The more I learn about the setup of Monmouth the less I judge Adam for his absolute refusal to live there. He goes to get something from the fridge? Someone’s pissing right next to it. Has to go somewhere at night? He has walk past Gansey sleeping bc his mattress is in the middle of the fucking main room. Bedroom? Literally haunted. I too would have snapped after about a week of that.

this paired with the knowledge that if adam had even casually mentioned that the layout/general essence of monmouth was part of why he didn’t want to live there, gansey would have a contractor in seconds. walls would be built. rooms would be made. the bathroom would separate from the kitchen. in a matter of weeks.

will never not be funny to me that ronan describes adam living above st agnes as a "fortuitous combination that focused most of the objects of ronan's worship into one downtown block" and we all stopped and marveled at the use of worship (me included hello) because he's a stupid lovesick bird but hold up. ronan it isn't fortuitous YOU literally did that you brought him to the only apartment in town where you visit the downstairs area of every week to pray looking up and you made sure he stayed there indefinitely by secretly bribing the nuns lmao. ronan tries to act so coy and romantic and selfless in his POV like he didn't architect all that on purpose and like adam doesn't know he did. pining wannabe machiavellis who deserve each other bringing intricate rituals to a competitive level

and looking at it from adam's perspective he found out at the same time that ronan can literally bend reality with the blink of an eye AND that ronan specifically made it so that he lives inside his church because he wants him there, and keeps breaking into adam's car to leave him gifts like a fucked up cat, and in normal circumstances this would be, to be honest, creepy as fuck. this god has its eye on you, and you've read ovid, and you know how this always ends. and even without all these implications, it should be adam's bane on paper, because his whole shtick is that he hates being forced to accept help or controlled - but not only he doesnt care, he's... grateful? elated even??? he thinks it's wild that he was chosen. he's sooo into it. I guess ronan is in fact so damn lucky he tried this shit on the only guy who finds displays of power arousing and was kinda already psychosexually obsessed with him, because the usual outcome would be either a restraining order or straight up turning into a tree to escape him.
