Thanks for buying my poem :) I guess I never posted on here that I moved to Virginia in August to begin pursuing my MFA in poetry, but that happened. Going on two years with my partner; we share a cute little brick duplex that has so much art on the wall & so many books & not enough shelves. Uh, other life updates… I read at an unveiling of an original copy of John Keats’ death mask on Halloween, just finished rereading the Hunger Games trilogy, I’ve been crocheting a blanket for nearly a year now & I think it might be bigger than my bed now.

But basically: I’m kind of living my dream life rn. Shout out to any of the real ones who have been here since I was an unstable teenager. Adulthood is a revelation 🫶

I wrote this poem in my first MFA workshop after finishing the early X-Files episode it's named for, & while thinking about proximity to & performance of violence in movies & TV, "celebrity" "doppelgangers," donating plasma, etc etc. It's stream-of-consciousness, but there's a lot of intention with the throughline.

Over a decade ago now (woof), I "got my start" by sharing my poetry on Tumblr, & as PDF ebooks available for a small price. I'm going back to those roots to make some progress in filling a hundreds-of-dollars gap in my school funding. This poem is available on a sliding scale—fill out the order form linked above, then pay whatever you can or want to.
