i never knew being in love could hurt this much… why does it hurt this much?
one of the most important things everyone forgets about nimoy's spock is that he very much does experience and express emotions. its just less often than the humans. and also he constantly talks about his lack of emotions so he's convinced people he doesn't have them. if you think he doesn't have emotions you're falling for his persona he's put up you're thinking exactly what he wants you to think.
i thiunk im sexyally attracted to music
Furthermore whoever removed the audio jack from phones should be grilled in front of congress. The fact that I need a dongle to listen to music on a modern telephone while 20 years ago I could have simply plugged a universally standardized cord into the audio jack everyone knew how to use is an anti-human move that should be punished.
I’m not a classicist, but I suspect one of the reasons so many of the Greek gods are portrayed so unflatteringly was less because they were seen as villains than because they represented their domains. Of course Zeus sometimes misuses his power, that’s what a king does. Of course Artemis’s wrath is wild and painful, that’s what nature can be. Of course Hades snatched away a young girl from her mother’s arms, that’s what death does. This is one of the reasons callout posts for some gods comparing them negatively to ‘nicer’ gods are kind of missing the point.
as someone who is partially a classicist, this is a better analysis of Greek mythology as a whole than 99.95% of the takes I’ve seen on here (and a substantial number of the takes I’ve seen in ~academia~)
This is cinema actually

Another thing I've noticed working as a children's librarian is like... kids get so Paralyzed By Choice and the adults in their lives never really register why. Like, for example, we have little scavenger hunt sheets in the children's section and when a kid completes it, they get to pick out a cute eraser from our prize basket. We also have a little toy prize chest as part of our "1000 books before Kindergarten" challenge for when kids complete 100 books--and kids will spend minutes carefully picking through everything while their parents are shooting us anxious looks like "sorry they're taking so long! I know this is silly and it's completely ridiculous that my child is taking so long to choose between a bath toy and a cube puzzle because these are cheap and arbitrary objects! Hurry up, Harper! Just pick something! You're embarrassing me!!" But in the kids' perspective, they already have so little control over what objects come into their lives, and in this case, the object represents labor and effort on their end, so of course they feel they must choose very carefully. I've always been an anxious and indecisive person, so it's striking to see how being rushed really doesn't help that and really only makes it harder for kids to figure out what they want.
I want this BLAZED across tumblr like a banner at the top of the screen, permanently
the hottest thing a man can have is a vaguely haunted look in his eyes like he had to confront an eldritch being a few years ago and the horror has mostly worn off but still sometimes sneaks up on him in quiet moments. the second hottest thing a man can have is a hoop earring.
no no. I trust that this will find its target audience
this fourth of july think of the indigenous people of america who had their country and land stolen from them with little to no reparations or apologies. land is still being taken. sacred grounds are still being ripped away. there is no “independence” for the people who were here first.
I know that everyone on here is an anarchist or Marxist or whatever else that traditionally does not care about this, but the damage that the Supreme Court has done to the US administrative state over the last five days (Loper Bright, Jarkesy, and Corner Post) is large enough to significantly alter the course of the 21st century, for the worse. It is massively easier for the wealthy to block a government regulation today than it was at the start of last week. It's an obscure set of policy reforms to anyone who's not a lawyer, but they've been a key goal of the right-neoliberal agenda for longer than any of us have been alive.
