i try to keep Cookie Clicker as compatible as possible which means i have to write it with the same html/js/css standards that were around back when it released 11 years ago which means once in a while i have to resort to using <table>.

okay it's actually not that bad i'm just setting a parent with display:table with its child as display:table-cell to center it vertically (in modern times i'd just use flexbox). it just feels a little dirty on principle. what is REALLY stifling is that i can't initialize variables with let and i can't use arrow functions and the workarounds for scoping are soooo tedious but it's worth it for the 2.6% of people out there still playing on. idk internet explorer 10 or something

once in a while i let a "let" slip in unpatched and a couple days later i get a dm like "hey boss my machine can't play the new update :(" absolutely heartbreaking. you really think i'm just gonna tell them to get a better browser? i don't know what people's setups are like. when i was younger for whatever reason the family macintosh stayed unupgraded for years and years. we were stuck on mac OS 9 well into 2007. bro i was on netscape navigator. i couldn't even load youtube
