What really aggravates me about anti-feminist Christian white women is that they have no idea how good they have it and how stupid they are for willing to throw away over a hundred years of protesting, essay writing, imprisonment, and hunger strikes just to look appealing to men who hate them and want to disenfranchise them. They really have no idea how comparatively good they have it as white women in the 21st century versus white woman in the 1920's or before. Black women, Indigenous, and other women of color obviously have had it far worse for centuries, and these same anti-feminist white Christian women are also not thinking about how their determination to steal the right to vote from women will disproportionately harm non-white women. I'm speaking specifically about this demographic because you don't see large, noteworthy advocates of repealing the 19th Amendment from Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, etc. women, do you?
Erica Kirk and her anti-feminist Christian influencer friends she hires to speak at her events are rich. They're so rich, they don't have to work minimum wage jobs. They can afford to have nannies, cooks, drivers, and doctors to help them. They can afford to tell women less well off than them that losing their political voice is...actually a good thing. They can LIE to these women's face and force the idea that a marriage with no education, no bank account, no savings is a great idea. Just hope and pray that your husband is a millionaire or isn't a violent abuser, drug or alcoholic addict, a criminal fraud, or mortal. Because he beats you, dies of his addiction, goes to jail, or dies, and you don't have a backup plan or millions of dollars to fall back on, you're fucked. There is a pretty little lie that they probably tell each other that if something happened, their church will step in. The kind of church that tells women that education is useless to them because they're only goal in life is to get married and have babies, isn't typically going to be the same church that helps them escape abusive relationship or help them get on their feet if they find themselves widowed suddenly. Churches and organizations like that are founded and rooted in misogyny, purity culture, and hyper-capitalism.
You're trying to leave your husband after he hit you? Well, what did you do to deserve that? You must have done something to upset him.
Your husband died in a car accident and now you don't have money to pay bills? I'm sorry to hear that. Sorry, we don't have the money in our budget to support you in your time of need. Would you like a casserole?
Your husband left you for a younger woman and you have five kids to raise by yourself? Well, you should have thought of that before having so many kids.
These could be so many women in the future and some are happening right now. It's bonkers to me how women who have it so good want to ruin everything for everyone else. And for what? To please men who wouldn't think twice about throwing women under the bus to protect their fragile egos?
And if they repeal the 19th, it'll just be a domino effect of repealing all sorts of rights these women have taken for granted. No more property rights. No more equal opportunity jobs. No more right to a jury of your own peers. Little, if any, education, which means fewer nurses, doctors, teachers, professors, therapists, etc. Say goodbye to half of the country's work force too.
You can bet these same self-loathing women are scared of sharia law and go into hysterics about Muslims, yet they're okay with living like Muslim women under Islamic theocratic regimes? Same ideology, different skin. While the religion is different, they don't mind being reduced to household maids who do all the thankless work but still expected to provide children for a man who could kill them or dump them or die on them with no resources. It's so enraging to the point of hair-pulling how they advocate for stripping their own rights away and live under a Christian version of radical Islamic law. It makes me want to put my head through a wall. We have swung so far right, I don't know how we're going to dig ourselves out.
