The Birds of Prey in the Batman ‘66 universe

Earlier this week saw casting calls for Black Canary and the Huntress for the upcoming Birds of Prey film. They were interestingly looking to cast a black actress as Black Canary while seemingly limiting the casting choices for the Huntress to white women. The roles eventually went to Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead respectively.

Before Helena Bertinelli was Officially Rebooted as a Black Woman, and the racists pitched their pissy bitch fit, I didn’t even know that she was Supposed to be white?

I always thought that Helena was another character that Wasn’t supposed to be white but was frequently Whitewashed… Like Selina Kyle or Talia al Ghul.

I literally always assumed her mother was supposed to be a WOC and assholes forgot/ignored that Fact. Like Selina being Cuban….

Biggest hope for DCEU’s Birds of Prey

They don’t treat Black Canary or Huntress like the CW treated them.

you guys do know that they can have black helena in bop and still use her original backstory and personality, right. like they can pull from pre52 comics and use them as their inspiration and still have her be black

Hey guys. Been a while since I’ve been here.

But I went through a lot during these past three years, most notably after my father died (if you recall).

But, I just wanted to say that even though I’m disappointed they didn’t cast a woc as Helena Bertinelli in Birds of Prey, I’m still willing to give the movie a shot.

I’m still deeply disappointed they didn’t cast a woc as Helena, and more specifically a black woman.

But I still might see the movie just to support it, and more importantly, support Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary.

On a related note, SDCC badges will go on sale soon. I hope to be able to go to Comic-Con next year and attend any inevitable DC panels that will give us more info on the Birds of Prey movie.

This aside, I hope you are all doing well.
