It doesn't matter how much you think a spirit is your friend, they will 👏 still 👏 hide 👏 your 👏 keys 👏
I want my keys back and I'm not going to clean.
You can't make me.
My apartment complex has a no candles rule in the lease and my roommates don't want to break any rules. Can anyone give me tips on how to set up a deity altar without using fire on a budget. I have been doing devotional acts but I really want something that I can physically see every day.
Hekate
Recently I have been researching the Greek goddess Hekate. Finding useful information on her has been exceedingly difficult. Due to the idolization of Hekate in the Wiccan religion it is often difficult to find useful information as a Hellenic.
What I have found:
Hekate (eh-kAh-tee) Hekate is the Greek goddess of Witchcraft, Necromancy, and boundaries. She is the guardian of crossroads. She will often help followers with big decision making when they come to a “cross roads” in their life. She is often said to help the newly dead adjust to being dead. Hekate often is worshiped by witches who work with spirits although this is not explicitly necessary for worshiping or working with this goddess. Hekate is best known in Mythos as the goddess who helped Demeter locate her daughter Persepone in the underworld after Persephone’s marriage to Hades. Hekate lit and held the torch for Demeter during the search. Hekate has been known to appear in dreams, meditation, or astral projections.

Red flags when researching:
I have noticed and begun to pick out certain red flags for researching Hekate. When simply using google it is easy to find misinformation. When I click on a new website, if the website has any Wiccan symbolism I immediately disregard it. As someone who does not personally practice Wicca I do not wish to find my information through Wiccan sources.
Anther red flag I tend to look out for is any source that demonizes Hekate. I have found many sources claiming that not perfectly worshiping Hekate causes her to become angry and vengeful. I personally do not buy into that belief. The Theoi are not wrathful and vengeful towards their followers. Some may use “tough love” but a deity is not likely to want to inflict harm or hardship to a follower.

A Page Out Of My Book Of Shadows: Powerful Binding Spell
Only you can decide what you are ready to practice this <3
Make a poppet (doll) to represent the person you wish to bind. Bonus points if you use their clothing to make it.
Write the full name and date of birth of the person on a piece of paper three times. If you do not have all this information just the first name can also work.
Fold the paper away from you to send out your intentions. Place the paper inside of the poppet.
Sew the poppet up while saying “This poppet and person are one in the same. I command you poppet this is your name.”
Get a black, white, or red cord and sharp thorns or needles.
Wrap the poppet in the cord and stick the sharp objects into it while repeating “I blind you and bind you by this charm that you may no longer do any harm” nine times. Make sure you stick thorns in the eyes of the poppet.
Hold over a lit candle and say “By power of fire know this is true all harm you have done is now done to you.” do the same substituting for different elements until you have done all. Bury the poppet in the earth far away from your home.
Use this with caution and only for ones who deserve it. Cross reference all steps and ingredients of this and any other spell you find before preforming. Always cleanse and protect your space afterwards. Feel free to add, subtract or substitute anything appropriately.
Hope this helps <3
Warding
What is warding? Warding is a form of protection magic. Warding is very important to keep negativity out of your space. This applies to negative energies, entities, and potential spiritual attacks. Spiritual attacks are not common but can happen and it is honestly best to be prepared.
A ward is a barrier you put up around your space and your self to protect from negativity. This can be done in countless different ways. Finding proper information as a novice practitioner on how to ward your space can be very difficult.
How can I ward? Warding can be as simple or as complicated as you wish for it to be. There are countless different types of wards with differing levels of complexity. If you are not someone who deals with entities regularly or you are not expecting any psychic attacks from other practitioners then simple warding should work perfectly fine. However, you can do any kind of warding you deem necessary, it is always better to over protect than under protect in my opinion.
Small list of simple wards: Mix together moon water and black salt, use a paint brush to draw Xs over your windows doors and mirrors.
Enchant your wind chimes as protection charms that will sound cleanse your space when the wind blows through them.
Draw sigils on walls, doors, or windows in clear nail polish or protection oils.
Draw a protective sigil under your welcome mat and on your sidewalk in chalk.
Place small protection spell jars around your home.
Place protective crystals around your home and in windowsills. Just make sure the crystals you put in your windowsills will not fade from over exposure to sunlight.
Place a thorny branch on your door step, cleanse and replace it if it disappears.
Grow protective herbs in your garden.
Water house plants with moon water and feed them crushed egg shells, decorate the plant pots with protective sigils.
Draw or sew in sigils into pet collars. Enchant the bell on your cats collar. Enchant the collar its self.
Turn house hold jar candles used for smell into protection spell candles by carving sigils into the wax and putting protective herbs in them. Light them for smell or when you need more protection.
Draw sigils on the underside of dresser drawers.
Wipe down doorways with moon water or protection oils.
Draw protection sigils inside your mask so when you leave home you are protected.
Draw sigils on the backs of picture frames hanging on your walls.
Enchant makeup products to become protection charms before applying makeup.
Put sigils in your phone case to ward your self when you go out.
Carve small protective sigils into your deodorant stick.
If you are an artist use moon water to active water color paints or to water down acrylics. This will enchant your art work and make it into something that can be used as a protection charm for your home.
How To Cleanse Your Space
What is cleansing? Cleansing is the act of removing negativity and stagnate energy from your space. Cleansing is an important part of any practice. Certain energies or entities could potentially interfere with any spell work you are doing in that space. Not cleansing can also sometimes interfere with your emotional state if there is too much negative energy.
How can I cleanse? There are plenty of ways to cleanse your space.
One of the more common ways to cleanse is to smoke cleanse; you can smoke cleanse using, herb bundles and incense. However, it is important to be mindful of lung problems, allergies, and pets. Smoke can easily interfere with allergies or lung conditions of you or another person you may be sharing your space with. Smoke cleansing can also be harmful to animals, typically, smaller animals with small lungs can be the most affected by this. If your animal is bigger like a cat or dog I would recommend not having them in the house until the smoke dissipates just to be safe. Also remember to be mindful of any herbs or incense that can be poisonous to certain animals. For example, you can not burn pine if you own cats.
An alternative form of cleansing that does not interfere with lung problems or allergies is to make a room spray. By infusing a water of your choice with specific herbs for cleansing you can create a spray that will do the same thing as smoke cleansing. Just be sure not to spray it directly onto anything that will take water damage.
Sound cleansing is a good way to cleanse that does not involve water or smoke. To sound cleanse you can use your voice, an instrument, wind chimes, singing bowls, or just about anything that makes noise. If you are using your voice or an instrument be sure to have the intention of cleansing your space as you do so. If you are using something like wind chimes you can charge the chimes with sigils, crystals, moon water, moon light, sun light, etc. These chimes will become your a protective charm that also cleanse your space when they make noise. Alternatively, you could scream all your anger out with the intention of cleansing your space and your self if you would rather do that.
Crystal cleansing is a lung friendly, pet friendly, wont cause damage, and wont concern neighbors if you have thin walls. If you are a person who uses crystals in your practice or wish to because you believe in the magical properties of crystals then crystal cleansing is a great way to go. Research different types of crystals and how the cleanse and what they cleanse and research the crystal shapes and what they mean. My personal favorites for cleansing are selenite and snow flake obsidian. Aside from my geological fascination with these two crystals they have amazing cleansing and purifying properties. Those are not the only two you can use, make sure you research as much as possible because crystals can be pricey.
Hey, hi, hello. So, just wanted to reiterate this again.
The Greek Gods are not their myths.
Myths were not written by the gods.
Myths were written by flawed ancient men who really didn't like women and it shows.
Your goddesses are not vain, petty, or shallow.
They are not bound to the myths written by flawed men.
Altars in Witchcraft
What is an altar? An altar is a designated space to preform witchcraft. These typically look like a table in ones home or even outside. Some people create more than just one alter. Typically if you are not following a specific practice or religion (such as wicca) there are not guide lines on how an altar is supposed to be set up.
Why set up an altar? For me personally it allowed me to have the structure I was severely lacking in my craft. It gave me a place to store my magical items and a place to focus on my spell work.
Should I set up an altar? This is entirely up to you. If you feel like this is something that will help you in your craft then go for it. However, if you are younger and in an unaccepting household I would advise against it. Altars can be quite obvious and if a parent or guardian were to figure out what its use is it may not end well. Please stay safe if you are stuck in a toxic environment.
How can I set up an altar? If you are not following a specific path or religious based path setting up an altar is pretty personal. As I was starting my practice I was vey confused on how to set up an altar. My sources were often contradictory and vague, usually heavily wicca based. However, as a secular practice there really are not any rules for how an altar should be set up. Personally I started with the basics, a table and an altar cloth. My altar table is a recycled end table that a hotel was throwing out while replacing furniture, it was nothing special. I wiped the table down with moon water, you can do this with any cleansing water of your choice or cleanse it with any means you see fit. I then drew protective sigils on the wood of the table top. I washed an old pillow case and smoke cleansed it. I used that pillow case as my altar cloth, it was the perfect size for the table I was using and I did not have to spend any money. When I began I had flowers in a pot in the corner as a decoration and a reminder of my connection to the earth. I later replaced those flowers with fake flowers in accordance to the season, seeing as I often struggle to remember to water my plants. Aside from an incense holder that was the only parts of my alter that I felt was necessary. It is now filled with my crystals, incense sticks, chime candles, taper candles, and candle holders. Above my altar I hung decorations made from sticks I found and art work that fit. Underneath my altar is where I store all of my herbs and other tools for my craft. Setting up an altar is not difficult nor does it have to cost money.
Hello! I’m a kind of new practitioner- I don’t even know what to call myself. I’ve been working with a deity recently and we get along great, but I feel a second presence in my home. It’s kind of giving off a creepy and malevolent vibe, and communicating with my patron feels more difficult. I’m not sure what it could be or what to do other than open all the windows, sweep with my besom and apply salt, then shut them all again. Do you have any ideas or advice? Thank you for your time.
Hello! I am so glad to hear you are creating a strong relationship with your deity. If I were you I would try to contact my deity or spirit guides safely and ask them if they are able to tell you any information on the entity that may be an issue. For me I find it is easier to contact my guides than my deities just because I get anxious and worry I may bother them, however, I feel like it may be safer to contact your deity just because their energy is so much stronger. It is honestly personal preference. After learning about what it is that may be in your home you can do a banishing spell directing your intention towards banishing the specific entity. Make sure when looking for a spell to use you cross reference and make sure that the spell will be successful. I hope this helps and I hope you are able to resolve your issue!
A Page Out of my Book Of Shadows: Powerful Banishing Spell
The Spell:
Cleanse the area, using your preferred cleansing method.
Make a circle of salt around you going counter clockwise.
Use a large black or white taper candle.
Carve, sigils, runes, or intent into your candle. Personalize this step to your own practice.
Anoint your candle with banishing oil from top to bottom.
Meditate on your intent of banishing and specifically what it is you wish to banish from your home.
Repeat, “With the power of the elements in me, toxic energy will no longer be, Negative [Entity / person / spirit / etc.] be out of my life, leave my space with only light.” Three times.
On the last chant light your candle.
Meditate with your candle in the circle of salt until the candle has completely burnt down.
The oil:
Use any oil of your choice as a base. Such as: Olive Oil, Vegetable Oil, Sun Flower Oil, Avocado Oil, etc.
Add: Cayenne pepper
Chili powder
Cinnamon
Black Pepper
Make sure to mix the ingredients together regularly.
Let this sit for about a week before use.
When the oil is done sitting strain through a cheese cloth to get only oil.
This oil can be a skin irritant so please try not to touch it directly with your skin.
Why am I sharing this?
When I began my practice I made a lot of mistakes and invited a lot of entities into my home that I should not have. I did not know how to banish entities from my space so I spent years living in a very heavily haunted home. There was never a dull moment. The entities in my home made the mental health of me and my family much worse. We had a bird that could speak and would often speak to one of the entities in the home. After the bird unexpectedly died of unknown causes the entity was claiming that he killed the bird and continued to brag about it. Finally after a lot of research I was able to banish them.
I do not think that banishing spells are accessible enough to young witches. In fact I see many people preach about how important banishing is and then refuse to teach novice witches how to banish. I agree that young witches should not rely on social medias as their only source of information. However, it is important to continue to keep this kind of information as accessible as possible for the ones that do or the ones who may have limited access to resources.
I have used this method of banishing multiple times and it has worked without a problem every time. I wanted to share this incase anyone needed to know how to banish.
Please stay safe.

What is cartomancy?
Cartomancy is a form of divination using a deck of regular playing cards. Cartomancy has been a common form of divination since the 14th century. This form of divination uses the same card lay outs as tarot readings.
Why Practice cartomancy?

Ableism in witch craft
Witch craft and spiritualism has always had a bad reputation, a lot of this has to do with ableist beliefs from a surprising amount of people.
The fact that most of the representation for witches and spiritualists in non cartoon media is usually a woman who uses essential oils to cure cancer and reads everyone's tarot incorrectly, does not help make us look better to the general public.
I have heard from both people I know and people on the internet that people who are schizophrenic are not mentally ill and are actually hearing entities. These people have gone on to explain something like the government is trying to suppress the psychic abilities of the general public by classifying this as a mental illness and putting them on medication that blocks their abilities. Similarly, people with these beliefs may also say that any medication for a mental illness is created to block spiritual abilities. Please stop spreading harmful and incorrect information. Mental illness is real, do not encourage anyone to stop taking their meds. Never tell a mentally ill person that what they are experiencing as hallucinations are real, this is extremely dangerous.
As someone who is on medications and is a witch, my medications help me and do not hinder my spiritual practice in any way.
To anyone with mental illnesses, you are safe, please take your prescribed medications, do not listen to anyone who tells you hallucinations are real or that your medication is blocking psychic powers.
The idea that medications for illnesses such as schizophrenia or anything similar are bad is ableist. In fact I believe medication can help. If you have ADD or ADHD taking your medication can help you meditate and focus intention. Medications that help with auditory or visual hallucinations can clear your head and let you focus on actual spirits energies rather than something purely in your mind.
Take your medication.
Whenever it rains I like to set out a bucket and stand out in the rain. I use rain storms to release stagnate energy that no longer serves me. I let the rain soak and engulf me in its droplets. I plant my bare feet onto the grass below me and remember that this connects me to the entire planet. I feel the bottoms of my feet connecting me to the earths core.
Nothing makes me feel more connected to my self and the world around me than a rain storm.
I thank the gods for every drop of rain that hits my skin.
Planetary retrogrades keep catching me off guard lately and I'm not okay with that.
