If you're against educated self diagnosis (for both physical and mental conditions), do something about medical gaslighting, biases, stigmas, inaccessibility, and ableism in the medical field, especially if you're part of the medical community
I'm a big fan (in that I'm not a fan at all) of how transfems are targeted by "gender traitor" rhetoric. The two most common variations I've seen:
-transfem disagrees publicly with cis woman on issues of gender, is hounded for it by all sides (except cis men but I think that's mostly because the spaces I'm in don't have many cis men proportionately), with other transfems either joining in or cutting the victim off, either way almost always out of fear for being next
-transfem publicly disagrees with other transfem on issues of gender, is hounded for it by other transfems and people (mostly cis women but also other trans people) in their circles until it breaks outside those circles and the transfem in question gets dogpiled by literal thousands of people, most of whom aren't transfem at this point (though that's likely as much down to demographics as anything else) and are often just happy to have an acceptable target to try and ruin the life of.
This harassment typically includes the classic accusations of sexual deviance/predation, but (especially the first version) also includes things like a modified version of the classic "you haven't unpacked your toxic masculinity yet" wherein the transfem is framed specifically as having political interests that align with cis men's, and not being trustworthy as a result (most common in the first one).
And for the second, it's generally accusations of faking being trans, or accusations of being a "not like other tgirls," or of being a "pick-me" who's thinking with her girldick. Either way there's a lot of "how dare you betray the sisterhood" vibes (it's almost like, as women, we often internalize the exact same toxic self-policing behavior as cis women often do, with the added factor of knowing how easy it is for others to go in on smear campaigns on us, leading to transfem only/mostly spaces framing themselves as the only safe place for us*, creating an us vs them mentality that leads to culty stuff).
*what's funny (read: not funny at all) is that these spaces often seem to turn on themselves, usually either because specific members turn out to be abusers and if that's acknowledged then clearly the space wasn't uniquely safe for us, or because a cis woman started a transmisogynistic smear campaign and all the transfems jumped to dogpile the victim or went radio silent, because otherwise they knew they'd be next
tl;dr gender traitor rhetoric is pervasively applied to transfems and specific-identity-based spaces are rarely safe, and these issues are not the same thing but they are intertwined when it comes to transfems
How about we just have like... hey trans people, post your pay links or wishlist or whatever you got without the exclusionist stuff. I'll just reblog em a bunch.
Hey it's October and you know what would cheer me up? Seeing lots of trans people sharing donation links and maybe getting a help. No trans too big, no trans too small, no binary necessary, intersex folx welcome too.
Everyone gets a reblog, posts I see from 10pm to 10am get queued, but I can't reblog a comment or tag. Especially would like to boost BIPOC enby and intersex voices but this here is a no limits no exclusion all welcome all hours deal.

Hi, I’m a physically disabled Non-binary person with chronic pain and depression and a mess of other stuff. I get by by living with my parents, working 40 hours a week at one job, 15 hours a week at my university I attend, and 3 ish a week as a tutor plus any chance to side hustle I can take. I lost my insurance this year and I can’t really afford to pay into a new one and keep myself afloat. I’d also love to save up to move out when I go to grad school and maybe even quit my full time job to focus more on school and hobbies, but that doesn’t seem possible. I don’t really have time to make anything physical, but I have this and I have TikTok @the_feral_mathematician and I can make posts to either about a math or trivia topic of your choice!

when women have balls. share if you agree
been told t is making me ugly. constantly flipping between "yes thats the point" and "no im actually even hotter now".
anyways i love being a man. i love my pronouns. i love being on t. i love becoming "ugly". i love my hair and my beard and my sideburns and my mustache and my legs and my big stomach and my voice and everything about it. im going to love my top scars and my surgeries and my efforts.
if its not about being transmasc and loving it make a different post.
Fuck the people who tell you that you're ugly for being on Testosterone. Your body is awesome and I hope you have an amazing transition. You're not alone in being targeted by this kind of transphobic rhetoric.
It took me six years after identifying as transmasc to go on t for this reason. I was in spaces, even in-person queer spaces, where I felt like going on hormones would be a betrayal to myself or those people I was making community with. That it would make me undesirable and unknowable.
It took me til grad school and moving to a new place for me to sit in a doctor's office and ask seriously about t. I nervously told this doc I'd been hesitant because, well, I was afraid I'd become unattractive to most of the people who previously had been into how I looked. I hope what she told me helps others on here: she said "then those people aren't the ones who will make you happy and this process is for you, for you to be happy. Besides, the most attractive quality someone can have is to feel good and confident in who they are and how they look. You should go on hormones for you, if you want to, not for anyone else."
This process is for you. This process will make you You in an amazing way. I'm so happy I went on t, eventually got top surgery, and everything else that's changed about me. I have the deep voice I wanted, a fluffy belly I didn't expect but embrace, and, yes, some folliculitis I didn't reaaally want. It's all worth it. I never add onto other people's posts but I couldn't miss an opportunity to share some love for those on t or considering t!
we need more women. 3,822,561,000 isn't enough.
thank you trans women
thank you trans women
basically you guys need to stop acting so weird about having sex with men. fucking a man is not a political statement it’s not an act of emasculating a man if you peg him or fuck him with your dick. it’s literally just sex. consensual sex is just sex. like i know it’s an online insult to say you people aren’t having sex but genuinely you people either do not have sex or have a seriously unhealthy relationship with sex. i’m so tired of hearing these absolutely shit takes about sex with men. you guys are seriously tweaked.
This is literally how misogynistic men often see sex with women. They see being penetrated as inherently shameful/humiliation and submission, and they think less of women who allow men to “do that to them”. They use sex as an act of using someone, violence, domination. Also ties into homophobia. I get the rage and the resentment, and it can feel good to “give it back”. But let’s not do the same gross bs that men do to us.
Don’t want to hear that invisibility is a positive feature of being trans men when y’all ignored the very targeted “rapid gender dysphoria onset stealing our daughters” or whatever the fuck Joanne was talking about and are now either ignoring Margret agreeing with the terf talking point of calling menstruaters “women” only, or worse, defending it as a confused woman who didn’t know it was transphobic.
Even if she does believe in supporting trans people, the confusion comes when someone only thinks of trans people to mean trans women. That is how terfs get their foot in the door. If they can’t convince you that trans women are predators, they’ll try making you think trans men transitioning or even existing is a threat to female empowerment and anti-feminist. And it’s working.
Some of y’all are joining them. Attacking trans masc people when we talk about sexual assault stats (1 in 2 for trans men. Fifty percent.) or reproductive healthcare. Picking apart whatever term we try to use because us being able to search a tag and build a community after being exiled from a larger community is a threat. It’s a threat if you hate trans men specifically, and the doublethink of using that hate for trans masc ppl to try and convince us that no one hates trans masc ppl is so ironic it would be funny if we weren’t dying.
You see a group of people marginalized for their agab, and for their gender, and you don’t know what to do with it. Men who are oppressed for our anatomy and our gender is not something easily understood if you haven’t lived it. So, like any transphobe who can’t reconcile their worldview with trans people, you create a villain narrative in your mind and cling to the bad actions of a few to condemn us all.
The fire is coming from inside the house. People like Margaret Atwood think they’re being trans friendly while boycotting gender inclusive language because we as a community have allowed that to become a norm.
(Note: I’m using the word gender in place of gender identity. Being a man is a gender. Sometimes, it’s a trans one. These are intrinsically linked for people who are trans men. Don’t know why I always need to explain this.)
first wizard wednesday since they rent me in twain

When I was in darker points in my recovery, it really bothered me that I couldn’t find many C-PTSD success stories. I heard all about people’s trauma and their PTSD symptoms, but not about how they overcame it or how good their life was afterward. So now that I’m definitely on the mend, I wanted to post a bit about what things are like for me right now.
It was difficult transitioning from being unemployed for more than five years to having my first real full-time job. But although it’s been a little hard, it hasn’t been overwhelming. Things have been okay.
I do get triggered a bit still, but I haven’t had a massive flashback in a few weeks. For instance, I’m still training at my job, and I was on a Teams call with a co-worker who was training me. He was watching me work through screen-share and telling me everything I was doing wrong, which was a lot, because this job involves a lot of intricate little rules. And it started to be a little overwhelming, because criticism triggers me. I started to get a little teary, and maybe the stress was audible in my voice, because he backed off a little and then we ended the session. But despite getting stressed and everything, I didn’t actually have a flashback! I finished up my work day, talked to my bestie about it, got a hug (which made me cry a little) and I was fine. Which is a HUGE improvement for me.
Every 3 months, my therapist has to do an evaluation on where I am in my recovery and what we’re going to do for the next 3 months. We did that a couple of days ago (October). The last time we did this eval (July), I scored something like a 38. On this particular PTSD evaluation, anything over 30 is a positive score for PTSD.
Well, this time, I scored a 20.
This doesn’t mean that somehow all my residual symptoms will magically go away, or that I won’t ever struggle again, or even that I don’t need any more therapy. But it does mean that I have made a HUGE jump in my recovery since starting my job. I’m doing MUCH better; I’m feeling MUCH safer. I haven’t been able to get back into my hobbies yet (partly because I’m still adjusting to my work schedule!), but I’m starting to be able to have fun with my imagination again–starting to feel like myself again. I still cry at night sometimes for no particular reason, but now it doesn’t drag me down into a black hole of despair: it’s just a little catharsis.
I’ll try to keep updating with little vignettes about how things are going, because I think we all need some positivity sometimes.
For a brief while there was a boom in art among transgender men, deceptions of wombs in the midst of destruction, eraser lines across chests and stomach and groins, collages that covered dysphoric bodies in flowers or syringes – scars or tattoos. Art that reclaimed our bodies and our right to change it, our right to hate the parts of us that hurt us, our right to love the bodies that rise from the ashes of our “self-mutilation,” and “female death,”.
That time was short, art was marked as violence towards women. How dare we mutilate the female body, how dare we degrade, demean, or demonize the sacred womb. Don’t you know there are people who love theirs? How dare you express your pain on paper while you are denied your hormones and your surgeries.
Of course, it wasn’t about art. It was about control. It always has been, the desire of cis men and yes – cis women, to control our bodies. It was not just the drawings, that was a facade – even to those who didn’t recognize it as such, those who thought they were doing good when they beat us down. It was about the way you see our surgeries as mutilation, the way you create a double standard – that cisgender women have the right to a hysterectomy but the transgender man does not even have the right to say he never wants a child to pass his hips, god forbid.
Shouts of, “There are some trans men who want to give birth,” and yes – I know, but this is not about them and it never has been, because you hate them too – you do not care about the medical mistreatment of the pregnant trans man and you question his male identity for carrying a child to term. It was never about that, it was about seeing trans men being angry and then centering yourself in the conversation that your were not invited too.
I am very much a man, but I'm getting real tired of cis people (including and perhaps most painfully, cis queer people) judging, viewing, critiquing and understanding my manhood from the perspective of and in relation to cis manhood.
My experience as a man has very little to do with or overlap with the experiences of manhood cis men have. I don't want it to share any further similarities. I do not set or judge my own maleness based off a cis ideal, nor am I trying to achieve any proximity to it.
And most interestingly, I find, I am only truly being held up to this standard and assumption of proximity, in discussions of other people assuming my access to privilege. Any and all other times, I seem to quite strangely fail to meet these same exact standards of maleness that would be make me a "real man" in these people's eyes.
It's almost, okay no it is as if, people decide when to view a trans man as a man based off whether it benefits them. I'm only a man when I'm being told by cis women that I hold privilege over them, nevermind that these same women don't see me as a man and actively misgender me.
And unfortunately this conversation here is the only one I ever get to have about my own masculinity, because people are so uncomfortable with anyone sharing or feeling positivity about their own maleness, because their whole concept of gender hasn't adjusted at all to how trans people fit into the picture.
I'd love to talk about maleness as divorced from cis people, just myself as well as with other transmascs, but cis people work harder every day to make any space they can (up to and including queer ones, as this is a big problem in this community at the moment) hostile to us, or even the mere idea of this kind of conversation.
(I wanna specify before anything else that I’m a trans woman, and that my intention here isn’t to talk over trans men, but rather to lend them my voice in bringing attention to an issue. I don’t speak for trans men.)
Just another reminder that if your queer spaces aren’t radically inclusive of trans men, those spaces fail as a queer space.
And this shouldn’t be a controversial statement.
What the hell have we been fighting for all this time if we’re not fighting for our whole community?
Some of y’all just wanna hate guys so damn much that you skip right over the nuances of why that’s maybe not great. Half of leftist spaces just took “guys make me uncomfortable and male privilege can make people act in really shitty ways” and turned it into “actually, men are scum, and that includes men that are marginalized. Hate is okay when it’s us doing it!”
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
Trans. Guys. Don’t. Have. Male. Privilege.
Cis men aren’t gonna flock to excuse, like, everything a trans guy does, like they do for cis guys.
A lot of rhetoric STILL defines masculinity by inherently cis standards (and toxic masculine standards as well), in ways that will ALWAYS put trans guys at a disadvantage.
Cis guys tend to treat trans men as women. They just… do. Because they’re transphobic and shitty about it.
Trans guys ARE marginalized and do experience discrimination that’s an intersection of transphobia, and unique issues that only really apply to trans guys in that way.
That’s why the term ‘transandrophobia’ or ‘transmisandry’ is a term that’s important within the community. Just like we experience transmisogyny, trans guys experience transandrophobia/transmisandry and a lot of y’all just wanna ignore that to say “but I’m less privileged than you.”
Please, for once, stop trying to win this ridiculous game of most-oppressed-olympics. A future where we get equality for us by throwing trans guys to the wolves… that should horrify you. That’s the same exact thing cis gays and cis lesbians have been doing to the ENTIRE trans community for years. I’m real uncomfortable with how many of you were willing to mimic that behavior once you were on the other side of it.
We make it through as a community, as a FAMILY, or not at all.
