Summer Three way Showdown(AOA, SISTAR, and 9MUSES): SISTAR is the weakest link of them all.
I just got into K-Pop again last year after taking a long absence from it, and I’m back into it heavily. In that time period, I’ve made myself familiar with a lot of groups, boy and girls alike but the ones that stuck out to me the most were AOA, T-ARA, SISTAR, and 9MUSES. With the exception of T-ARA, the rest of em just so happened to be participating in this battle royal that is the summer girl group showdown. I’m focusing on these three because they’re the only ones I care about the most.
I got into AOA late last year, right when they dropped Like A Cat. The song and the album in my opinion was one of the best releases of 2014 and is one of my fav K-pop albums of all time that i play till this day. I went back and checked out a few more of their older songs that didn’t appeal to me as much but still, they gained enough credibility for me to wanna see what else they might drop in the near future. When Heart Attack was announced, I got hype. Based on the snippets, I knew this would be awesome. And they did not disappoint. My only complaint was that the Video didn’t match the song but the song was great enough as is so its whatever. The rest of the album was also very well done for the most part. “Come to me” is my favorite song on it by far, followed by “Really really” and “Chocolate.” The production and overall flow of these songs are extremely grabbing and show growth. AOA’s Heart Attack is the best summer come back, to me, this summer. The girls made a clear statement and set the bar for this season.
9MUSES, came back from their hiatus with DRAMA, earlier this year. While Drama (by itself) did have some cool qualities to it, it paled in comparison to some of my favorite songs (such as “Miss Agent”. “Wild”, “Action”, Pretty much the entirety of the Sweet Rendezvous EP, and Glue). The album really wasn’t much to praise either. In general, I was let down. I felt that they should’ve had a stronger come back into the scene. But still...I kept hope. The announcement of Hurt Locker, followed by previews came out and based on what I heard, I could tell that this was gonna be a step up. Fast forward and the Hurt Locker MV is released. I was disappointed. Hurt locker was a boring song. No real grabbing elements. But unlike DRAMA, the rest of the album was amazing. “A”, “Fancy,” and “Yes or No” are just sex. The production on all three songs are a nice blend of sexy, smooth, and upbeat and most importantly, grabbing. 9MUSES redeemed themselves in my eyes and they showed me once again why i loved them, when i got into em, during their hiatus. They also showed growth and made their mark.
SISTAR is a group that I have a love hate complex with. ALONE is why I got into them. Itunes radio pretty much played the entirety of the album, which i ended up purchasing because it was that great. My curiosity made me go explore more of their discography and while i did find a few songs here and there that were exceptional such as “Gone not around any loner”, “Give it to me” and “But I love you”, there was nothing that stood out to me or as well flowing as the ALONE album. Hyorin’s solo stuff appealed more to me musically. SISTAR is pretty much the group that I like to keep an eye out for because here or there, they’ll drop a good song that i’ll end up liking. SHAKE IT was more or less of a continuation this. Lackluster, song that I won’t go back to. Wasn’t clicking with me at all, production wise. The only two songs that did standout to me were 애처럼 굴지마 and 나쁜놈. The first song is a chill and smooth track that flows nice musically. The second is another well produced, emotional ballad. I will def keep bumping them. But overall, SISTAR didn’t do it for me, again. Compared to the other two groups they were the weakest but I still have 2 new songs that i can bump of theirs, which is nice.
What do yall think?
Hey peeps, I’m back with some new music and news. I’ve decided to write a song in 24 hours, once a week. I’ll be doing my best to mess with as many different sounds and styles as possible. So there’s bound to be something for everyone.
This song is the result of the first effort. Its called Wasteland. Its an K-indie and ambient influenced song. I feel like it does an accurate job of making the listener feel like they ended up in a location where everything is Withering to Death. But who knows? Maybe you feel something different when listening?
Let me know!
Anyways, enjoy and feel free to share and DL as you please and follow me on soundcloud for new music (regularly, now), and my twitter and Fb pages for updates and such (Hellion_01).
Enjoy!
Lionsgate must’ve not realized that you can easily find these with a simple google search. Most of these came from the pages that they forcefully had take em down.
Nothing leaves the net forever.
Nice try.
I’ma leave this here.

Its been awhile since I've dropped anything. Been hard at work with this cover and other material as well! So here's a snippet of the (long over due) new cover I'll have up soon. Its The Distance from ART METAL band BatAAr from Sweden. Please check them out if you haven't yet. They're a kickass group!
I'm playing Simon's part (right channel) and i recorded all the parts using my Les Paul Special II. For the most part, this was pretty fun to do and I'm looking forward to showing you guys the full video (which I'll be recording in the next few days)! Stay tuned!

MELTING is a track that i finished over the summer. I showed no constraint on the guitar parts which made adding bass impossible, haha. Also, this song didn't make the cut for my upcoming release but
