so! it turns out that one area of town we've been handing out food is barrio azteca turf. they're the u.s. wing of a cartel, so that's terrifying.
as if i wasn't overwhelmed enough before. 🙃🙃🙃
it turns out on the other side of town the cops are harrassing our clients and amar members.
fucking hell, all we're doing is handing out food! what's wrong with these men??

i wanted to wait a bit before sharing this, but no one should be having to deal with shakedowns, beatings, and arrests while trying to survive without shelter in 110 degree heat. please share and donate to our fundraiser if you can!
this is lily, she's an afro-latina woman i've been helping for about the past month. when i first met her she has just become homeless due to leaving an abusive husband, and was living without a tent in the camp in cartel territory.
i've gotten her food and clothes, and she was the first person to get a tent. i want to raise enough money to help her get an apartment.
she's spending most of her days just riding back and forth on the bus for the free air conditioning. she and dozens of other women like her need housing.
please, if you can, donate.
(and yes, i asked her if she was alright with me sharing her name and face and she said yes.)
