The great Dinah Cancer, front-woman for the early Los Angeles death rock band 45 Grave. Not exactly Goth but 45 Grave was an early forerunner of it. They started in the L.A. punk scene with bands like T.S.O.L. and FEAR. They were near-weekly regulars on the old New Wave Theatre public access TV show that was rebroadcast on USA networks Night Flight series. This was in the early days of cable tv when networks were struggling to find content, and you could find great stuff like that on late nights.
Here's a Goth one hit wonder. What a great title for a goth song. First saw this video on MTV's 120 Minutes in the mid 80's. Had high hopes and bought the album. It sucked. This song is still great though.
Today's theme is songs that aren't goth but magically captured a goth vibe for one shining moment. Yea, I love this fucking song so get over yourself and let me just say that the first time I had ever heard this song was on a live TV performance, and when it cut to a growling Siobhan Fahey in her black Medusa curls and crazy eyes, I got such a goth boner...
