i do think its kinda sad that a lot of people on this website spent a good portion of their college years on tumblr instead of making friends. college is probably the easiest time to make friends with other newly independent adults, if you missed out on that it's no wonder you're socially stunted
but don't worry, if you missed your chance to be social in undergrad, they offer redos! search "grad school" to find out more
Clark & Lois' screensavers.
This show is still amazing
Imagine surviving one of Brainiac's massacres and then having to tell people that this is the being that wiped out your entire civilization.

If you went to a bar and the bartender was a mousegirl you could ask for a drink and she would balance it on her head and say "for you, it's on the mouse"
the crazy thing about this is that it took one single word to turn it horny. coulda been a normal cute post. coulda taken the high road & conjured a delightful image of a mouse scampering down the bar with a beer ten times its size balanced on its head. but you had to say "mousegirl" and not "mouse." don't pretend this isn't what's going on either i know the score i know what's up. i'm familiar with this sort of semantic trick. you want to fuck down on an anime girl with certain characteristics of a rodent and everyone's gotta know.

It is really important to me that all of you learn about Al Bean, astronaut on Apollo 12 and the fourth man to walk on the moon, who after 20 years in the US Navy and 18 years with NASA during which he spent 69 days in space and more than 10 hours doing EVAs on the moon , retired to become a painter.
He is my favorite astronaut for any number of reasons, but heās also one of my favorite visual artists.
Like, look at this stuff????
Itās all so expressive and textured and colorful! He literally painted his own experience on the moon! And that's just really fucking cool to me!
Just look at this! This is one of my absolute favorite emotions of all time. Is Anyone Out There? is like the ultimate reaction image. Any time I have an existential crisis, this is how I picture myself.
And then there's this one:
The Fantasy
For all of the six Apollo missions to land on the moon, there was no spare time. Every second of their time on the surface was budgeted to perfection: sleeping, eating, putting on the suits, entering and exiting the LEM, rock collection, setting up longterm experiments to transmit data back to Earth, everything. These timetables usually got screwed over by something, but for the most part the astronauts stuck to them.
The crew of Apollo 12 (Pete Conrad, Al Bean, and Dick Gordon) had other plans. Conrad and Bean had snuck a small camera with a timer into the LEM to take a couple pictures together on the moon throughout the mission. They had hidden the key for the timer in one of the rock collection bags, with the idea being to grab the key soon after landing, take some fun photos here and there, and then sneak the camera back to Earth to develop them. They had practiced where they would hide the key and how to get it out from under the collected rocks back on Earth dozens of times.
But when they got to the moon, the key was nowhere to be found. Al Bean spent precious time digging through the collection bags before he called it off. The camera had been pushing their luck anyways, he couldn't afford to spend anymore time not on the mission objectives. Conrad and Bean continued the mission as per the NASA plan while Dick Gordon orbited overhead.
Fast forward to the very end of the mission. Bean and Conrad are doing last checks of the LEM before they enter for the last time and depart from the moon. As Bean is stowing one of the collection bags, the camera key falls out. The unofficially planned photo time has come and gone, and he tosses the key over his shoulder to rest forever on the surface of the moon.
This painting, The Fantasy, is that moment. There have never been three people on the moon at the same time, there was never an unofficial photo shoot on the moon, this picture could never have happened.
"The most experienced astronaut was designated commander, in charge of all aspects of the mission, including flying the lunar module. Prudent thinking suggested that the next-most-experienced crew member be assigned to take care of the command module, since it was our only way back home. Pete had flown two Gemini flights, the second with Dick as his crewmate. This left the least experienced - me - to accompany the commander on the lunar surface.
"I was the rookie. I had not flown at all; yet I got the prize assignment. But not once during the three years of training which preceded our mission did Dick say that it wasn't fair and that he wished he could walk on the moon, too. I do not have his unwavering discipline or strength of character.
"We often fantasized about Dick's joining us on the moon but we never found a way. In my paintings, though, I can have it my way. Now, at last, our best friend has come the last sixty miles." - Al Bean, about The Fantasy.

To be honest, this one
Almost made me cry right now.
I love it. Something about it feels so incredibly human. The emotion on display, even without a face to show it. This is magnificent. Truly magnificent. I feel it in my soul.

Expressing regret that the interruption would delay the highly anticipated video game adaptation, the producers of A24ās upcoming Elden Ring film announced Tuesday that the project had stalled after a red phantom named TwinkPunisher invaded the set. āDespite our security teamās best efforts, a loincloth-wearing invader with the handle TwinkPunisher was able to gain access to the shoot through the use of a Festering Bloody Finger, disrupting production for the foreseeable future,ā said a spokesperson for the studio, adding that TwinkPunisher had tauntingly placed a Rainbow Stone on the ground for every take he managed to render unusable by performing the āwarm welcomeā gesture, by obscuring the actors with the Ekzykesās Decay incantation, or by repeatedly spamming the āYouāre beautifulā Prattling Pate over dialogue.

it's funny to me that in the original idea for pluribus vince gilligan intended for it to have a male protagonist but then he was like i really wanna work with rhea seehorn again so he made it about a lesbian instead. more writers should be doing this if you're considering writing a man stop what you're doing and make him a woman immediately
trying to explain to tumblr that the Middle Class in not their enemy
saw someone say that someone complaining about only having 7k in savings makes them contemplate ādoing something badā
you know that 7k covers like. one hospital visit WITH insurance, right?
āpeople who make six figures shouldnāt be allowed to complain āā most people who make six figures are, these days, solidly middle class. where i live, a combined household income of $110k is *lower middle class*.
āpeople who can afford homes āā are typically 400-600k in debt for them. also if ācan own your own homeā is your threshold for the rich you are contemplating eating, i think you are genuinely stupid
āboohoo your investments dropped, stop complaining rich boyā idk how to tell you this but. most of us have a retirement account. you should probably open one
Oh, BTW...
Judge Araceli MartĆnez-OlguĆn approved the landmark settlement in the class action copyright lawsuit on Monday. Authors and publishers are e
Anthropic illegally downloaded some 500,000 titles, and 92% of those eligible for an awardāboth authors and publishers are entitled to paymentāhad opted into the class action. MartĆnez-OlguĆn denied all but two requests to opt out of the agreement. āWe applaud the courtās final approval of this settlement, which represents an important victory in the larger battle to hold big tech accountable for its unscrupulous appropriation of intellectual and creative properties that clearly belong to authors and publishers,ā said Maria Pallante, president and CEO of the Association of American Publishers, in a statement. Pallante praised the court for recognizing that downloading from pirate sites āis not a choice we should simply accept as an efficiency for the infringer; on the contrary, itās abhorrent conduct that should never be normalized.ā She also argued that fair use should not be extended to allow tech companies to copy copyrighted materials, and that tech giants should look to licensing agreements to train their AI models.
Now we'll see how long the payouts take to come through. I had between a half and two-thirds of my lifetime output stolen by these schmucks, but payouts from many of those thefts will be split 50/50 with the publishers. (Which strikes me as fair enough.)
So the waiting continues. Meanwhile, so does work...
