In fairness to the show, both the monastery and running off to the theatre scenes in the book are told in summary (as in we dont ‘sit in the scenes) so I’m actually not mad that we only get shown the aftermath of those. But the wooooooooollllvvvveeeesss. 🥲

I’ll stop bitching soon I promise. I’m just a bit disappointed.

ep 2 thoughts :(

The breakneck speed through the backstory this ep is a little disappointing. I saw a post of someone theorising this is lestat avoiding his past which I think is likely a good take and I hope true - I really am hoping they do revisit it (the scene with Gabi plunging her hand into his wound from the trailer wasnt in this ep? So maybeee).

I know it would be too hard/goofy to show the full wolf fight on screen but I so wish we’d had a little bit more of it… the flail…

:( (watching after dark rn and I can see sam feels the same lmao… ‘the fight you didnt see’ and confirming there’s a lil glimpse of flail when he’s riding out apparently) and I wish it had been snowy! Sorry, the snooow. It’s iconic! ;-;. Girl do you know how long we have waited for this scene for you to spend like 2 minutes on it?! Fuck man. 😭. Maybe other backstory stuff will come back but i don’t think the wolf fight will bcoz budget. I cant help but feel like why are we rushing through this book to get to QOTD seemingly? Iwtv, a much shorter book, gets 2 series but this thicker book is being rushed through to reach an even fatter one… and mixing the two does make a bit of sense as they are interlinked, but not at the expense of this book, which people have been waiting to be adapted for DECADES at this point being rushed. 😭😭. Idk im really in my feels lol… trying to trust the processsssssss but. Idk. If we do get s4 maybe we will get some more lestat backstory through a qotd lens… i sort of do feel each book should have 2 series.

Also don’t like the stutter replacing the illiteracy that they seem to be going for…. That feels like a big thing to remove to me. Being isolated from this world of knowledge. Wah. Unless they outright confirm that I’m saying its still the case in my mind.

Idk like I enjoyed the ep i think, but the pacing feels so odd rn. Again I wish we had the whole series out at once so I could stop being so anxious lol. I’m gonna rewatch it and see how I feel because I had mixed emotions after e1 too. And nicki already/still being in paris. Sigh. Ep3 seems like its gonna be good tho… so maybe I should stfu.

thing i did like: the present day stuff was all good, and thank god, the ott popculture refs in the narration has calmed down somewhat, the songs were better (RELEASE THEM). Just… balance it plzzzzz. If the magnus and nicki stuff is this brief im gonna… keep watching lol who am I kidding but im gonna be fucking big mad.
