“…If I said I returned the sentiment, I would be lying." Rick replied, not amused in the slightest by the demon’s whimsical gesture and tone. He was cautious, making sure not to be fooled by the other whenever they crossed paths. He wasn’t as naive as his sister, but they were crafty…
“I have business to attend to; don’t get in my way." It was best to shake the demon before they caused him any problems, though Rick suspected it would be harder to achieve than by simply asking. He started walking in the direction of that house, as he always did in the dream, paying no mind to the slinking form of the demon.
--Suffice to say this answer was as disappointing as Alice's lack of greeting. Rather than become discouraged, Cheshire continued to near the other (even as he walked away). Following. Eventually he would need to address them.
--"Mind letting an old friend in on said business? I would love to hear it." They brought their hands together to the satisfying sound of claw against claw. If you will not share, dear, I need only follow you to find out for myself. I'm sure you understand as much. "I'm very interested in these things, you know."

After saying farewell to Letty, the last thing Rick remembered was settling into a peaceful sleep. The dreams were far from pleasant, however, as he dreamt of being deep in the forest, like when she left them there. He looked around for any possible way to leave when he sensed a familiar presence…
"Ah… so it’s you. What do you want this time?”
--"A more enthused greeting, perhaps. Why, Alice, do you never seem pleased to see me? I eagerly await your visits, myself." Their hind paws made little sound over the debris of the forest floor, their tail just skirted leaves and kept them silent. The guide approached the other with their head bowed low. "We'll try again. Do as I do-- Hello, Alice. It's a pleasure, as always."
wow could it be that i am actually online))
ILL TRY TO BE ONLINE TOMORROW SORRY WOW))
❝Ah, really…❞ The last time he checked, scorching hot weather with cotton-candy esque clouds were normal from where he was from, raising his suspicion even more. This cat demon guy was not from around here, that was one thing he knew for sure.
❝..Yeah. I agree…❞ The conversation made him think about what happened before. Definitely something was amiss when you have a trusty dragon friend with you coming to investigate the area at night. But… That was no more, right? There was no more dragons with unstable powers as far as he knew.
--They cocked their head to one side, raising both forelegs to gesture loosely in the direction of the inn Alice mentioned before. "That way, you said? Is that where Alice is from?" It was the only thing Alice had bothered mentioning, and while he could certainly have been minding his manners and nothing more the guide was quite interested in its significance. Anything specific. "Then I will look there."
❝…Uh.❞ He was not particularly troubled, now that he thought about it, albeit quite worried about not being able to control his powers well enough. Did that count?
This cat demon was weird. With a hood to cover his face from the bright sun? He had never seen anyone hating the sun that much. It was quite odd.
❝Skeletons in closets…?❞ That was something he did not know about. No, there was no… Dead people of the sort in Azure Resort, if that was what he was hinting at. He remembered a little about it being a metaphor and all, but he did not know the meaning of it.
--They turned their eyes from their subject again, glancing up over light walls and into the sky. Not clear, but clearly clear enough to be a bother. There were no clouds where Cheshire was from. There was no sun, either, and so it was never a problem. Cheshire's hind paws kneaded at the ground-- tiled, nothing to sink their claws into and ill-suited to the activity.
--"Skeletons in closets. Secrets. I've known of a few small towns," --Even if I wasn't the one to see them, myself-- "And there's always something amiss about them. Perhaps it's that your sky is broken, but I severely doubt that."
"We will see."
He said gesturing for the Cheshire cat to lead the way. He had no idea where he would be going what the world had in store for him. He did know one thing tho Someone was going to be greatly disappointed.
--They snickered, offering a wave before beginning to walk. There must have been a new door around here somewhere, if a visitor arrived. Of course the rabbit had been of no help to their new friend, but they expected nothing more of him. "Now, I don't know you. Please, if anything looks familiar, let me know. This is where you'll be going."
❝…Alright, then.❞ He was a little relieved that the circling had stopped. It was making him a little dizzy, although he hardly noticed him. Who, exactly was this cat-like demon, anyway? He was still a little awkward around him, seeing that he might not be a guest or someone who wants to reside there.
❝…I’m William…❞ He mumbled quietly, once again, continuing on to reply to his question.
❝This… Is Azure Town. There’s a resort not far from this area we’re in, so it acts like an inn… Or hotel, I guess.❞
--"I've not heard of it. It's really a shame; this place looks adorable." Now, if only my retinas weren't burning. Such light colors, and such sun! A ridiculous amount, if they were honest. The hood they wore, though, was keeping light off of their face, and they were happy. "I'm sure a place like this keeps its dirty little secrets-- skeletons in its closet and monsters and nightmares. Of course, that must be why you're here. Troubled, Alice?" The guide turned back to face the other, eyes narrowing as their grin only grew.
——-♜ The child tenses, cheeks puffing out in the smallest of pouts. Did the Cheshire simply believe they were just opening another door? He guesses if that’s what they’ve been doing their whole life, then perhaps it really was akin to opening a door. But still, they supposedly had dear people on the other side. Why wouldn’t they remember? It confused him.
He was thinking too hard about it.
“I… suppose you’re right. I couldn’t tell you how many doors I’ve opened. But,” an added emphasis, “I could tell you the names of all my treasured friends. Yet, you don’t even remember how many you’ve had. I just…find it strange, is all.” Well, he wasn’t so sure about the ones he had, if any, before arriving with Teacher.
”Loathes you? Why? Shouldn’t you guys get along with how long you’ve known each other. And what is he even assisting you with? You’re always here, guiding me supposedly.” He can’t deny the next statement, glancing over at the doors lining the walls a long breath passes through lightly chapped lips. "I suppose you’re right, though. I should be on my way…"
--The guide nodded while Alice spoke, their tail slowly slowing to a halt and touching down on the ground. Was it really that strange? No, certainly not. Cheshire had had many friends, many more than Alice could acquire in his short lifetime, and so it only made sense they have fewer memories of such fleeting relationships. "I've been around for a long time, Alice. My friends have all gone, and I have forgotten them. That doesn't matter now." The most important person to me, now, is you. When you are gone, then I suppose it will be someone else.
--"When I am with the rabbit I'm hardly on my best behavior..." They turned their eyes up and to the left, quick to add a disclaimer on their behalf, "Mind you; it's only because that one steps out of line first, and he gets very angry very quickly. Do not believe what he says-- he deserved it." Cheshire looked slightly flustered, having no real explanation for the boy and pushing choppy words out through their teeth. Something more precise would have helped Alice, but this answer just wouldn't do. They couldn't elaborate, and they outright refused to offer information on their own purposes.
Straightening up, picking their tail up out of the dirt, Cheshire blinked. They nodded several times. Yes, Alice should be on his way. It would be disappointing, but only later. Now he only needed to do his job, enable Cheshire to do theirs. "Good, I've reminded you! Worry not, Alice, I will be here should you need me-- I will be here anyway, but I wouldn't want to distract you."
and that's about it from me for about a week! goin' away, gotta do some things, etc. ))
❝…Ah, okay then….❞ He was not sure if it was a mistake, but seeing the cat-like person come out of his hiding space, it was already well known that he was… Not normal, that was what he would describe him. This person seemed happy to know that someone took notice of him, he noted.
❝..No, I don’t need any help… And my name is William, not Alice…❞ That was his introduction to the cat creature. Where did he come from, anyway? He did not seem to be the people who live in Azure Town.
--"Certainly, Alice. Of course." Cheshire ceased their circling only when they were sure they'd sized Alice up. He seemed to be of the more nervous type, wasn't exactly uncommon in the children they saw and so they were not discouraged. "I must inquire, though, about this lovely little place. Tell me, where are you?"
He was terribly confused was he suppose to dream, of something happy or sit down with a unknown cat man. His dreams he didn’t have many, all of them were memories, ones where his corpse was set a blaze. When silent was suppose to roll in, when he would be at rest, only to wake up to a very pleased man explaining his new job.
His short really alive life, was that of starvation and fearing winter. Only to be followed with hope, cut short by a mad man craving his eye out and a crying little girl.
The only calming thing he remember was a girl he met briefly how he felt about how she had grown was a mystery. His eyes had wondered off until they set back on the odd cat man.
“I’ll play along. “
--They had no way of knowing what the other was thinking, though they could guess by the look on his face. Some frustration or another-- nothing Alice would need to worry about in here. Unless, of course, it was everything he would need to worry about in here. No new doors had opened, that Cheshire knew of, and so they hadn't been expecting anyone new that night.
"I'll play along."
Cheshire shrugged back into their hood, offered a muffled clap to approve of his decision.
--"Wonderful. In that case, you'd get started. That is, if you ever want to leave."
Pesky cat. He wasn’t in the mood to be interrupted from his train of thought for the sake of their infuriating antics. But it seemed that no matter what he would do to keep him in his line of vision, it was better to see what was coming to him after all, the demon would escape from his vision.
It wasn’t until a momentary pause from their laughing by his coughing, did they finally decided to spit it out.
“…Oh." Well then. Flipping the picture in his hands, he observed it once more. And true to his word, it really was easier to make out. (Even if he still wasn’t too sure on what it was that he was looking at.) Sometimes Allen has to ask himself why people consider him the smart one. That was completely air-headed of him, perhaps Teacher’s inattentiveness was starting to rub off on him? He certainly hoped not.
Regardless of whether or not the demon’s presence was welcomed, he still felt that it was necessary to mind his manners.
Pushing back his growing ire as the demon snicked, he forced himself to speak. “..Thank you.”
--Their tail curled, happy they were acknowledged positively. It wasn't often such a thing occurred, and they were very grateful for that reason. Cheshire wrung their hands-- at least, as well as they could considering the cushioned outerwear --, grinned down over the drawing in Alice's hands. Though they'd been able to make out enough of the drawing to tell that it wasn't right-way-up, they hadn't any more useful information to share. They weren't entirely sure what the picture was, either.
--"I guess you'll still need to figure the rest of it out on your own. Yet another chance to exhibit your puzzle-solving skills, dear Alice." They brought both hands up to cover their mouth and stifle another bought of laughter before it could further disturb the other. Cheshire wanted no part in impeding his progress, and wasn't laughter just such an awful distraction.
also HEY im going away for a week starting saturday. i won't be doing any rping (mobile, yk), but i might check in once in a while to idk see whats going on or send s/s or something
anyway slow week ahead, gonna get my drafts done by tomorrow))
Eyes trailed over to that unfamiliar hooded figure over in the resort. A late night it was, and William still could not sleep. More like, the nightmares he ate were delicious. People had often told him that eating right before sleeping was bad, and it was unhealthy, so he stayed up.
But, on to that hooded figure. It looked really suspicious. Was it a terrorist? A robber, someone bad? A hooded man could only mean trouble, or that was what his narrow mind thought of.
❝…Oh, uhm… Excuse me, sir.❞ Crimson orbs flicker with a slight concern, his leather shoes clacking across the marbled tiles. It was only polite to invite guests to stay, whether they were hooded or not.
--"Cat!" Cheshire corrected, content now-- despite the mistake --that they had been addressed. They stalked curiously across the floor towards the other and thin fingers flexed excitedly in their wrappings. It wasn't often somebody came along with visible horns. This was an oddity and they wanted to know more. "I'll forgive you, don't worry. We all make mistakes."
Swishing their tail with a flourish, the guide began to circle in a wide perimeter.
"Did you want something, Alice?"
