Wǒ ài nǐ (Mandarin) - The first time he says it, it had been after dinner at Porthos. He walked you home. You looked at him in confusion, before you could question him, he kissed you, leaving you too stunned to remember his words.
사랑해요 (Korean) - The second time he told you. It was as you were laughing at Sakura's and Sugashita's squabbling. He has said it so quietly, you thought you might have misheard him.
Anh yêu em (Vietnamese) - The third time he used a phrase you didn't understand, you were in the middle of apologizing for dropping a canister of his favorite tea. You were in a rush making dinner for him to take home and you hadn't noticed the canister close by.
You always packed him food home, hoping he would eat it. You didn't know why he didn't eat when he was around others but you hoped that he would on his way home. You even packed enough for several people.
You assumed he would share with his family. He took your hand and kissed your fingers, noticing the burn marks from your hurry. He whispered those words, before you could question him, he helped you cook the remainder of the meal with a smile.
I love you too - You told him right after the fight with Red Chanpuru had concluded. You waited for him back in Makochi. He came back bruised and wounded, and changed. A heavy burden off his shoulders. He tried to speak before you covered his mouth with your hand. You whispered the words to him. His eye widened. You wiped the tear that escaped. The kiss you two shared was one of healing and reunion.
His smile was so soft in the latest chapter I had to use it as a banner 🥹💚💞

Thinking about the importance of names…and how you didn’t know about Suo’s other name.
Thinking about Suo getting used to his name being pronounced this way….
How he enjoys it even more so the way you pronounce it. This name that he didn’t hold a connection to before now comes with so many he cares about. It’s also a connection to you, somehow he holds great affection for.
You who have a contract with Suo Hayato. Thinking maybe he is a fox familiar, you had a contract with him for years. He’d help you around your shop, making potions or keeping guard. Helping you find the best ingredients. It was a relationship full of teasing and comfort. Until one day, his clan comes for him and you find out his name was not Suo Hayato at all.
You picked up a tiny, wounded cat on your way home. It was a rainy day and you came across the little one shivering and bleeding at the corner of the alley. There’s no way you would leave him there, so you take him home and treat him. He’s guarded and hisses at you, but gradually softens up. He reminds you of the soft petals of Sakura blossoms, so you name him Sakura Haruka. When you go to sleep, you kiss him on the head. To both your surprise, he turns into a human. What an amazing way to find out you’re a witch.
Skimming through the first big arc again and Suo was the one who helped strategize their battle against Endo.
Learning that he’s one of the officers makes me wonder the scale and how the big fight will go.
Furin has their own strategists and history but they are more recent too. But they are also a team who is surprising so even Suo won’t see their moves coming.
Like the wind which comes peacefully but might also come at you like a hurricane (Sakura)
I hope we see this side more. This was chef kiss. I need to see Suo let go and show this sadistic side again.

I need this with Suo lolol it would be funny though I think he’ll dodge like he always does.
Thinking about it but maybe the reason why Suo volunteered Sakura as the leader of the squad was because he saw what furin was lacking leadership wise and they needed the change.
Bankoku-gai and the red chanpuru not only has many styles of fighting because of its multicultural roots but also experience because of its history. Suo own fighting style is a mixture as was pointed out.
Maybe while at Makochi, Suo saw that they were too stagnant, and without change or adapting, eventually Furin will lose.
So when Sakura came, Suo might have seen Sakura as “the wind that brings change” to Furin dynamics.
And Sakura does just that, he shows that outsiders can care about the town, he asked for other teams help when not even the captains of Furin thought to, he makes connections and brings a new perspective, etc.
“Because it’s Sakura” as Suo says.
I can see that being part of why Suo elected him as the leader and why he also wanted to be his vice captain.
Not only because Suo has experience, but maybe in his case, this was his own choice and not something forced on him (possibly). He might have even wanted to see shoulder to shoulder what Sakura can do and do it by his side too.
Sakura being all hungry but he doesn't want to go to Pothos, so his partner makes food for him.

But can you imagine?? Sakura who rarely had home cooked meals until he came to Makochi, and someone who started learning to make his own? Enjoying the home cooked food of his friends and loved ones?
To him, each food he’s had is delicious. Maybe one day, after a long night out, he wanted to go home to call you so he didn’t stop by Pothos to eat.
He realized that he was hungry on the way but it’s okay, he can manage, it’s not his first time going without food.
When he arrives home, he’s surprised to see you. You’re wearing the cute apron Kiriyu bought him and you were stirring something on his stove.
You turn to him happily, welcoming him home and telling him how Nerei texted you that he left without eating so you wanted to make sure he was fed.
You brought ingredients over, used the key he gave you, and cooked his meal hoping by the time he arrived you would be done.
Hana. I'm being plagued by Wind Breaker scenarios.
One of them is truly a crime. It's about Sakura's partner calling him Haruka for the first time and he imagines a whole scenario where they're adults and married, eating together and he offers to help them with chores while they tell him they're glad to have met him.
And then Sakura snaps back to reality and is screaming like a yowling cat.

Thinking how maybe you two been dating for a while and you’ve always wanted to call him by his first name. Sakura wouldn’t mind surely.
So you do it, you call him “Haruka”
And he freezes, his mind goes blank. Very few called him by his first name and then you said it so softly…he wants to hear more. He thinks of all the moments where you would call him by his name….
And then he comes back to himself when you place a hand on him, worried, and he reacts as you would expect.
Blushing and waving his hands around before quietly mumbling your name, a bit hesitant and nervously eyeing you.
Thinking about Sakura who goes on a first date with you. He’s nervous and antsy and doesn’t know what to do.
So he asks for advice/help:
He asks Tsubaki for advice on popular places to take you to.
He asks Kiriyu for advice on what to wear. Kiriyu takes him shopping with the others to see what fits Sakura best. Kiriyu might even say there was a deal of buy one get one half off as a way to trick Sakura so he could buy some clothes for him.
Nerei and Suo talking about your interests and give dating tips. Of course there’s teasing involved and Nerei has to stop Suo from telling outlandish dating tips.
Ume gives Sakura flowers he had grown personally.
On the day of your date, Sakura arrives to your home dressed charmingly and with a bouquet.
You two have a wonderful date, even with Sakura’s friends “hiding” and taking pictures wherever you two go.
Later on, you ask Nerei for a copy while Sakura and a couple of them squabble in the background.

Sakura haruka (wind breaker) romance at a cafe would be adorable.
Maybe you are kotoha’s helper? Or someone she hired to help in the store or stock up. (It keeps getting busier at cafe pothos with everyone dropping by)
Sakura meets you and initially he’s nervous. That is until he tries the omelette rice you made and he’s in heaven. in love
It shocks you at first that he loves it so much, so you end up making it every time he comes. You even sneak in other stuff he can try to see his reaction.
Kotoha is always ‘busy’ when he comes around now. (Sneakily watching from a corner)
Maybe one night, when you’re in charge of closing the shop, Sakura helps you clean the dishes and you give him some extras to take home.
He ends up walking you home to make sure you get there safely, and in time, he’ll put his jacket on you and you’ll give him a kiss in front of your doorstep.
We still see how he’s affected by the past despite his healing journey. Healing, after all, takes time despite having come so far in such a short amount of time.
We see how his past haunts him through flashbacks, but new experiences heals him.
So I’m thinking of Sakura with a little one. He didn’t have a stable or loving home until he came to Makochi.
I can see him worried about providing enough love for his little one, worried about his tone of voice, worried if they have enough (clothing, food, love, experiences), etc.
Thinking of his past and hoping his little one would never have to go through that.
The day they are born he swore to protect them.
But that anxiety is there, and that’s where you come in, he’s not alone. He has friends, the town, and of course you. Even in this path, he’s taught how to love and give love.
The little Sakura in the past healing because of the love he gives to his own child.

The fact that Kiryu and Suo make such a similar expression and yet it's so different when you actually look at it. They were ready to beat up Sakura's father.
He does care, he cares so much in fact.
Bonus shocked face from him, those eyes don't lie when he's caught off guard or nobody is looking at him
More instances of Suo actually caring because he's a liar who lies to try and distance from his friends
More of him caring about Nirei, being proud of him, admitting his worry to a total stranger.
More scenes of him caring during the sick Sakura mini arc, that face in the second panel haunts me, he looks so haunted sometimes, like this immense sadness clinging to him. That's not just worry.
Him worried during the Noroshi war, that's his inner dialogue too
I keep thinking Suo understands Sakura to a level the others don't, and that only makes me feel like his backstory and his reason for leaving are going to be devastating.
Also, realising he looks so damn sad sometimes, I'll have to conduct a search for every single panel where I can see that deep sadness in his lone eye.

First up, this whole damn interaction, like look at those eyes of his, he was worried and saddened and he understood him.
Now, protecting Nirei and attacking in behalf of Sakura because of what Endo said to him
And again, one of the first things he ever said to Sakura and after the Noroshi fight, he does care, he cares so much actually, an she admires Sakura so much, that's why he didn't want to talk to him.
