oopsie i tripped and spilled my link to archive dot org's downloadable copy of Microsoft office suite for 2007, which features no AI tools and is a powerful word processor that still holds up just fine on windows 10!
Happy Pride Month everyone! Remember 4 months ago when the CEO of this platform harassed and chased a trans woman off this website just for posting her transition timeline, then chased her to other social media platforms to continue harassing her, and threatened to call the FBI if she continued disputing the multiple dubious terminations of her blogs that did not violate tumblr's terms of service in any way? And despite tumblr staff insisting that the CEO was acting against their interests, the broad transmisogyny evident in the site's culture and moderation policy has still not been adequately addressed?
Remember that staff is continuing to nuke the blogs of trans women even after all of this. Remember this post when they call this site the queerest place on the internet again this month
This is an incredibly deep and troubling piece on a litigation battle at the heart of Williams. I can't even reduce it to a few key points, it really speaks to every possible issue in the sport, from the multiple kinds of discrimination at play to the role of dark money.
This is the kind of reporting I want on F1 and I can only imagine how hard it has been to put together and get past a team of (British!) media lawyers
Special report: Allegations of sexism, racism and expenses fiddling are flying across US courts, drawing in leading figures in motor racing
How very depressing that Neil Gaiman had trended not even a tiny bit for demonstrating what a fucking horrific person he is.
As a reminder, he's suing Caroline Wallner, one of his accusers, for breaking her NDA. Not for libel. He's saying she shouldn't have told anyone about it, not that she lied.
The author says Wallner broke her NDA by sharing her story with the media, including with New York Magazine.
He doesn't need the money. He's risking the Streisand effect. He is punishing Caroline, he's trying to intimidate other victims who have signed NDAs to scare them into continued silence.
He is no friend to women, to the LGBTQIA+ community, to anyone quite frankly unless he thinks they are of value to him.
Share the story. Put it on Facebook and bluesky and whatever else you're on. Make it clear what a horrifying person he is. Tell your friends. He's paying Edendale a fortune to try and cover this up. Make this hard for him. Make it cost him money.
If a website has a paywall, like New York Times, DO NOT use the ctrl+A shortcut then the ctrl+c shortcut as fast as you can because then you may accidentally copy the entire article before the paywall comes up. And definitely don't do ctrl+v into the next google doc or whatever you open because then you will accidentally paste the entire article into a google doc or something!!!! I repeat DO NOT do this because it is piracy which is absolutely totally wrong!!!
Also do NOT append "12ft.io/" before a URL ! Typing an URL like this https://12ft.io/<URL> will redirect to a site that would break the display of the page by removing the paywall !
Honestly it's kind of prohibited to mash CTRL+P before some paywall windows can load in to get a PDF of the article. Really shouldn't be done tbh very dangerous🤷🏿♂️ ❌️
as we all know the april races in saudi arabia and bahrain have been cancelled because of the ongoing war. so, to make good use of this “break” we decided to organize an event to make some fun art and support the people who are affected by this war.
To do so, we will do a commission style event where creators make art after proof of donation has been given to a select number of charities!
we have a collection of different artists who have already signed up to have commission slots open! (but if you still want to join you can sign up through this google form)
there isn't a minimum needed but we encourage to give as much as you can!!
now how does it work?:
step 1:
you donate to one of these charities and fill out this form.
(for fics it will be posted on tumblr and its a 1 euro/dollar per 100 words, so if you want 500 words that is 5 euros/dollars)
step 2:
we close the forms on friday the 3rd of april and connect you to a creator that is participating, does your requested form of art and has also submitted one of your drivers
step 3:
we inform said creator who and what is commissioned and they start working on it, they can in this time contact you for any extra info if they want, at this point you will also hear what creator is connected to your commission
step 4:
the comm is posted on tumblr under the #f1blrforaid tag and we have cool new art and other people have gotten some help!
FAQ:
what if a creator wont be able to make the april deadline?:
creators will have your username and you will know what CREATOR was matched to your commission sheet, through this you can stay in contact about the commission but remember that this is for charity and low stress!
can I commission/donate more then once?:
of course you can and its definitely encouraged! best way to go is to simply fill out the form as many times as you donated, that way they will all be processed as different slots and you will get matched to different creators!
why are fics posted ONLY on tumblr?
because its against ao3 TOS to write fanfic in exchange for money, that's why its very very important that we keep the fics to tumblr and tumblr alone!
Im gonna be so real can yall actually talk about ways we can support trans women in the UK instead of giving all the attention to fucking JKR. I already know that Harry Poter sucks, I wanna know how to actually HELP people. Something something you have to love the oppressed more than you hate the oppressor
The World War II-era "Simple Sabotage Field Manual" is full of steps that office workers can take to resist leadership.
A declassified World War II-era government guide to “simple sabotage” is currently one of the most popular open source books on the internet. The book, called “Simple Sabotage Field Manual,” was declassified in 2008 by the CIA and “describes ways to train normal people to be purposefully annoying telephone operators, dysfunctional train conductors, befuddling middle managers, blundering factory workers, unruly movie theater patrons, and so on. In other words, teaching people to do their jobs badly.”
Over the last week, the guide has surged to become the 5th-most-accessed book on Project Gutenberg, an open source repository of free and public domain ebooks. It is also the fifth most popular ebook on the site over the last 30 days, having been accessed nearly 60,000 times over the last month (just behind Romeo and Juliet).
