My stuff never seems to make it in the tag and I donât have any real presence in the fandom but I want to post this even if itâs only to motivate myself to keep working on this story update!
Excerpt from Chapter 5 of âThreeâ Company Tooâ
Kai is no stranger to waiting for things. He spent years of his life waiting for freedom and before that years waiting for acceptance.
When it became clear heâd never get it, that desire for acceptance morphed into a thirst for power. After nearly two decades in magical prison waiting for the things he wants is a piece of cake.
If he admits it to himself heâd been waiting for Bonnie since the moment he first laid eyes on her, even before she knew he was there.
First he waited for her to see him. To notice his patient staking.
He waited for her to realize his interest, which Damon of all people had to point out.
And ever since heâs been waiting for her to see all that she could be if only she got out of her own way.
All that they could be.
Heâs wanted her by his side since unlocking her powers in that grocery store aisle. Taunting and terrorizing her was fun but heâd always wanted to escape together, heâd tried to tell her that countless times. When she proved sheâd only stand in his way he decided he had enough waiting.
In the past he blamed her for his actions, he felt misunderstood and judged by her the same way he had his family. Itâs part of why he lashed out as violently as he did. His old version was ill equipped to handle the resurfacing of dormant emotions triggered by her rejection.
Kai just wanted to live and Bonnie had stood in the way of that.
Her and her self righteousness.
Now, from the other side of the merge he can understand her better. She was a town witch responsible for keeping those she loved safe confronted with the likes of a fratricidal child killer. In retrospect her wanting to play warden to his inmate made sense.
Heâs tried to tell her he regrets his violence but itâs so far gotten him nowhere.
Each time heâd tried to confront Bonnie he ended up with a door slammed in his face or aneurysm drying his brain.
Only in the last couple months had she softened toward him. Not immediately turning tail or setting him on fire as soon as he came into view.
He suspected Nora had a lot to do with it. Since theyâve been together she hasnât been as prone to boiling his blood whenever they cross paths.
It seems the older witch brings out a new side to Bonnie, she doesnât jump into fire nearly as readily and she isnât at the beck and call of the Scooby-Doo crew the way she used to be.
Of course heâs kept tabs on the two of them.
Technically Nora was still in his coven, that made her and her life his responsibility.
And Nora was Bonnieâs partner so it was only natural he should keep tabs on the both of them.
You know, ensure their well-being.
Mystic Falls was a dangerous town in a dangerous world. He had to look out for them, he didnât want anyone thinking he was homophobic.
