“Really? Why not? Let’s try again.” He took her wrist and started walking.
As she was pulled along, Helena narrowed her eyes at his back. “You think you can get me in?”
Really, Grant had no business being out here - so far off from his facility. He’d missed breakfast for this. Gone out on his own even though he knew it wasn’t in his best interest. He was a lousy shot and frankly, anyone who had seen him with a gun in his hand knew his aim needed work. Apparently, scouring abandoned buildings for extra parts took precedence over anything else. He was risking his own life for a project that might not amount to much in the end. But Grant was convinced he could handle himself. Bruised and out of breath, he was starting to second guess himself.
Helena caught sight of someone and approached them. When she was close enough, she fell into step beside him, smiling. “You look lost,” she commented.
The night set in and Kaleb was feeling a good buzz, he sat in front of a fire enjoying being out away from the group. He didn’t have any responsibility tonight, just to relax. Closing his eyes for a moment, he listened to the distance moans of zombies. Opening his eyes a moment later, he noticed a figure approaching and reached for his gun, ready to take them out.
Helena approached a fire and took out her knife when she saw the man sitting there was armed. “Whoa,” she said when she saw him reaching for his gun. “I’m not a zombie.” She put her hands up. “Obviously.” She smiled a little at him.
Avery frowned. “That’s awful; I’m sorry.” He sighed. “And I lied about sleeping in a tree. I’m with the Reapers actually. Have you heard of us? We have a compound and it’s safe. Let me take you there.” He doesn’t mention how Colton might not let her join.
She shook her head. “No, I already tried. They didn’t want me.” She frowns deeply.
Parker was hiding out in a garage, barracading the door to ensure that no walker was going to come through. He had been searching for his travel partner for days, perhaps even weeks ever since she went missing. It was easy to lose track of time and date but still, he hadn’t given up just yet. A part of him believed she was still out there alive, but what if that was just his idealism talking? The world became even crueler ever since this zombie thing broke out. He’ll just have to keep pushing forward until he finds her whether she’s dead or not - at least he’ll have an answer. Just when he was about to get up and continue his journey, he heard a noise outside. Grabbing his knife, Parker snuck behind the door, waiting to see who it was.
Helena had been walking along, looking for things in homes she liked. She did this out of boredom, mostly. There wasn’t much to do when you were alone with no one but the undead for company. When she approached the next place she would tear apart, she banged on the garage door. There was a sound inside but it didn’t sound like there was more than one zombie so she took out her knife and made her way inside. She was greeted by no zombie or any noises that a zombie would make so she lowered her knife. When she turned though, she was greeted by a familiar face. She looked at him for a brief moment before smiling at him. “Parker. It’s so nice to see you again.” She looked around. “Where’s Erin?”
It was too late by the time Connor got there. He hadn’t seen what was happening until it was too late. The girl looked about 15. She was still a child. At first glance, he’d thought she was fine, he’d been going to offer her a weapon if she didn’t have one – though realistically, if she was alone out here, she probably had one – when he saw the walker behind her. It had come out of nowhere. Still, as soon as he saw it bite into the girl’s neck, his anger became overwhelming. She was just a freaking child. Even once he’d taken out the walker, Connor couldn’t bring himself to stop. He wasn’t sad– he was angry. This world was an awful place.
Helena noticed the man she had met a few days ago walking alone. So she followed him at a distance. This didn’t go on for long. She watched as a walker approached a young girl. The man she was following did too, but seconds too late. She watched the girl die without any expression on her face and watched with the same look as the man hacked at the corpse. She moved a little closer after a moment to watch, allowing herself to be seen by him. “You just about done there?” she asked, not bothering to put on any act for him. He knew what she was.

He couldn’t fucking believe Helena left him – no, he could. He wasn’t even sure how she was still alive if the only thing she was was a coward. Nolan killed the zombies and left, rushing to the campgrounds before anything pops up, remembering to seek out his sister once more. END.
Nolan rolled his eyes and pushed his sister away harshly, feeling the pressure of the knife leave him. The open wound stung but wasn’t something he was going to start crying about. He would’t be seen as vulnerable in front of her. Crazy bitch, he thought as he turned around and took out his weapon, the blade still painted with faded blood. He didn’t know what to do - leave her to die? He couldn’t now. The rush of pleasure he got from almost taking her life, from inflicting the silver amount of pain in comparison to his own; that was irreplaceable. A walker wouldn’t do her justice. “Don’t do anything stupid,” he warned her, careful not to incorporate his own death with hers.Â
Helena stumbled back at Nolan pushed her and she gasped for air, doubling over. She glared up at his back, thinking about how easy it would be to just stab him right there and then. It wouldn’t be the first time she stabbed her brother in the back. But that wouldn’t suffice. Helena wanted nothing more than for her brother to die a slow, painful death at her hands. She had always dedicated her life to ruining his, taking everything that belonged to him and making sure there was no way he would be happy. Taking his life was her ultimate goal. Still, she wasn’t going to stick around and help him fight off the zombies that approached. Helena was not a fighter--that was not the way she managed to survive as long as she did. She was a runner and a thief among other things. She stood up straight as the zombies drew closer, smirking at Nolan’s back. “Of course, little brother,” she cooed. When the zombies came within a few feet of them, Helena turned and ran the other way, leaving her brother to take care of them on his own. She knew he’d be able to handle the few of them that were there. She’d seen him fight. There wasn’t even the slightest chance that the zombies would kill him, taking away her only chance at ruining him one last time. They would meet again, this much she knew, and next time she wouldn’t be so merciful.
Lynn shook her head, staying silent as she listened for any possible noise that might come from the other side of the closet. “The last thing we need is to get out of here right before they completely leave the room.”
Helena’s face was blank she just nodded. “Right.” Her voice was strained and she sighed, resting her head against the wall behind her. She didn’t move until there was silence beyond the closet door. “You want to check if the coast is clear?” she asked the other, nodding her head toward the door.
“Lachlan.” He replied looking at the girl across from him. “Are you a member of a group, or are you alone?” He enquired, wanting to know if she was a member of the crimson tide or not.
“I like Lachlan,” she said fondly. She lowered her juice box, her eyebrows pulling together like she thought about something painful. “I’m alone. I used to be with someone but...” She sighed and shrugged. “They left.”
Braxton offered the woman a wide smile, and slowly approached her in case she was the cautious type. “Damn. Well, consider me self conscious.” he joked, then shrugged. “I’m Braxton.”
Helena watched him carefully, smiling just a bit. “I’m Helena.” She looked him up and down, smirking. “What brings you out here all alone? You are alone, right?”
“Are you really all alone?” he asked, concerned.
She shrugged. “Yeah. My brother kind of left me out here.”
Her eyes were focused on the door, her father had taught her to do this and the fact that she never really thought she’d need to do this, was actually rather surprising to her. Hearing footsteps, as she finished unlocking the door, she looked up at the girl. “No, thank you.” She replied. “I’m already done.”Â
“Oh,” she said, looking in the doorway. “Fast work. It usually takes me twice as long. Maybe you could help me perfect the art of lock picking.” She smiled. “I’m Helena.” She held out her hand for her to shake.
“Well it’s a heard, so over ten.” She replied, biting down on her lip and looking worried in the direction she’d come.
“Oh. Okay.” She nodded. “So what should we do?”
His gun slowly lowered as he looked at the person who crawled out of the bushes, she’d looked like she’d been rolling around in them personally, so it took a bit to stop himself from laughing at her. “Alright… what were you doing in the bush?” He questioned slowly raising an eyebrow at her.Â
Helena breathed a sigh of relief and lowered her knife. “I was hiding from some zombies,” she explained. “There were too many I couldn’t take them all on my own.”
“Keep quiet, will you? Or we’ll be heard.”
“I’m sorry!” she whispered quietly to the other girl and tried to stop fidgeting. As the group of zombies passed by outside the door of the closet the two had stuffed themselves inside of, Helena could hear less and less growls. “I think we can go soon,” she said.
