I haven’t totally caught up with Witch Hat Atelier yet so I haven’t really dipped in the tags, but I hope someone makes one of those “kids yelling McDonald’s” memes of it

Controversial but outside of the rough brush strokes, I don’t understand the Parks and Recs comparisons with City Council of Darkness?

I keep seeing people on Reddit saying they get a Parks and Recs vibe from this season, and then of course Purpee/Pawnee. But even without the vampire stuff the two seem completely different to me.

And this is from someone who watched every episode of Parks and Rec. like… I get that these are both about small town civics … but is that it?

I really want to gush about how Brennan Lee Mulligan puts his politics in his art. I think it’s incredibly well-done, and I think he is finding very novel ways to express his political ideas. I just really want to see more discussions about it

There was a Sound of Music parody on Animaniacs where they didn’t actually know how to deal with their new governess because even though she annoyed them, she was basically a good person, so they couldn’t just harm her

Anyway I love how this is sort of what’s happening with Nancy Danderhoof in A City Council of Darkness. Darkness Man and Bat Child respect her too much to just kill her.

I also love that she is not .. scaled up to their level at all. Their other enemies are like … warlocks, an ancient vampire hunting society, maybe a government conspiracy … and then like … a small-town civic minded journalist who runs stories about dog parades

So the Whittakers are Democrats and the Douglasses are Republicans and it seems "they probably fight about superficial stuff to make you think that there's an illusion of choice, but really they're exactly the same people." Yeah, that tracks

D20 City Council of Darkness ep 5

So Purpee has two "rival" families that basically run the town. One family is Republican, and the other family is Democrats. Everyone swears the families are always feuding with each other. But in city council both families have identical voting records (in favor of corporate interests.)

I love how City Council of Darkness has revealed itself to be a "weirdos from out of town act as a catalyst for change" plot. Lets fucking go!
