Virginia Mason Medical Center

During the build-out of Level 5 at Virginia Mason's Seattle campus, deflection and flatness issues on the concrete slab were identified by Turner Construction, the GC on the project. The project team decided to deal with these problems early in the construction schedule, and High Tech Cement's MB 10 along with ABW Construction's pump truck, were chosen to deal with the issue.

ABW pumped 50,000lb of MB 10 from outside the building, through the occupied hospital and onto the 5th floor without any interruption to hospital operations. MB 10's superior compressive strength and abrasive resistance, allowed the rest of the space to be built out and still leave a floor ready to install finished flooring with minimal prep.

Smokey Point Medical Clinic, Marysville, WA

Early in the construction schedule, the contractor, JR Abbot, identified moisture issues along with flatness/deflection issues on their elevated slab on metal deck. JR Abbot decided to address these issues right away, in order to take advantage of the wide open slab they had available.

ABW Construction were chosen as the contractor to address these issue. High Tech Cement's MB 10 was chosen as the preferred material to deal with the encapsulation of the moisture mitigation system and flatness/deflections issues on the slab. High Tech Cement MB 10 with its low shrinkage characteristics, were crucial in making this a successful project, as the moisture mitigation system chosen left a non porous substrate for MB 10. 95,000lbs of High Tech Cement’s MB 10 material, was poured over 23,000sf.

Oregon Department of Transportation

During the renovation of Oregon's 60 year old Department of Transportation Building, Hoffman Construction Company required a material to encapsulate a 100% solids epoxy moisture mitigation system. High tech Cement's MB 10, was chosen as the preferred material, due to its superior performance characteristics, especially is low shrinkage value.

  Hoffman Construction and Floor Factors, utilized ABW Construction's pump truck to place the 2,500lb bulk sacks from outside the building to the lower basement. After just one day of prep and pouring, the 10,000 sq ft basement was ready to install finished flooring.

Boeing Field Warehouse

When it came time for Graham Construction to address the flooring on a warehouse renovation project at Boeing Field, High Tech Cement was brought to the table. The existing substrate was made up of a number of different materials and the floor itself was damaged tremendously in a past earthquake. High Tech Cement’s low shrinkage and high-abrasive resistance made it a perfect solution to the problem.

The decision was made to pre pour with High Tech Cement’s MB 10 SLU to bring the floor into a tolerance acceptable to the architect. The day following the pre pour, High Tech Cement’s MB 100 Topping was applied as a permanent wear surface. The result was a floor that was soundly bonded to a challenging substrate and a surface that was ready to withstand the high traffic volumes found in a Boeing warehouse.

Evergreen Cancer Center

The Cancer Center at Evergreen Hospital, was a 7,000 sqft shell space located on the first floor of the fully operational hospital. Lydig chose High Tech Cement’s MB 10 Self Leveling Underlayment, as the preferred product to bring the slab into tolerance for high end floor finishes.

The option to utilize High Tech Cement’s bulksacks (2,500 lb) and their ability to be pumped from outside the building, was one of the determining factors in choosing High Tech Cement. Along with this, High Tech Cement’s superior performance characteristics allowed the underlayment work to be carried out before any other trades hit the floor. Once the job was complete, the contactor was on the floor the following day mobilizing all other trades, confident that the material would stand up to months of hardship and be ready once it was time to install the floor finishes.

Polyclinic Seattle

Sellen Construction came across a number of slabs that needed to be either repaired due to rain, or brought into spec for floor finishes during their build out of this 205,000 sq ft shell space. High Tech Cement’s low prep requirements (no shotblasting) and superior performance characteristics made it an easy decision for Sellen. Due to the low prep requirements, the areas were addressed with minimal delay to other trades and the overall schedule.

Sellen also decided to utilize High Tech Cement’s pump truck service provided by  ABW Construction and purchased  2,500 lb bulksacks.  This service offered great cost savings to Sellen, as they were able to take advantage of their highly-trained crew to prep for and finish the underlayment. Once the larger areas were addressed, Sellen used 50lb bags to address the smaller areas.

Jackson Center Renovation

Western Ventures chose High Tech Cement’s MB 10 as the preferred product to address considerable settlement issues on an existing slab, in the Jackson Center at Everett Community College. Western Ventures took advantage of High Tech Cement’s pump truck service  provided by ABW Construction. This state of the art delivery system provided considerable savings to Western Ventures, as it allowed them to utilize their own labor in the prep and pouring of the material.

By following the installation guidelines set out by High Tech Cement and providing the required documentation, Western Ventures were able to take advantage of High Tech Cements extended installation warranty.

The Outcome:  A satisfied contractor and college owner who received a flat surface and a great warranty.
