Moving In
 After hearing about the new female student arriving at the Academy, Megan couldnât think of anything better than to welcome the girl with open arms, whoever she was. Sheâd managed to get the name âZatannaâ from Mr. Kent and she also learned that the girl was related to a teacher at the school, though she wasnât sure who. Still, it was enough information for Megan to feel comfortable searching the girl out and introducing herself.Â
Figuring the new girl would be unpacking or settling in, Megan went to the only dorm she knew to be previously uninhabited and knocked on the door lightly, hoping for the best outcome. Or at least for this room to belong to the new student. âZatanna?â the ginger called out to the closed door.Â
When she first heard the knock, Zatanna thought she was hearing things, because who would be knocking on her door when she didnât know anyone? Her next thought was that it was her dad, but it couldnât be because her dad was teaching a class now. Then she heard a girlâs voice ask âZatanna?â and she knew she was wrong on both accounts. She leapt off her bed, deciding to leave the still-crooked poster for later, and walked quickly to the door, not wanting the girl to wait for long.Â
She pulled open the door, revealing a red haired girl wearing one of the school uniforms. âHi,â Zatanna said. Behind her, she heard something fall, and turned to see a pile of clothes slip off of her bed. Groaning, she went to pick them up. To the girl she said, âSorry about the mess- I just got here. But you can come in, if youâd like.â
Accepting the new studentâs offer, Megan slipped into the bedroom after her and let the door fall shut behind them. She immediately moved to help Zatanna with the clothes, stacking them on the bed and refolding a few as she spoke up. âThatâs alright. I know how hectic move in is,â Her words were followed by a smile to show sincerity as Megan recalled how disastrous her own room had been when there was not one person moving in, but two.Â
Once all of the clothes were picked up from where they had dropped the redhead stretched her hand out as an offer to the new girl. âIâm Megan. I heard the Academy was getting a new student so I thought I should introduce myself.â Meganâs smile never faded throughout the introduction as if to show Zatanna she was a friend and could be trusted.
"Thanks," Zatanna said to Megan as the redhead helped her with the fallen pile. Once all of the clothes were back on the bed and in a mostly neat stack. She took a look around the room and laughed. "I still can't believe how much stuff I actually have- it's kind of ridiculous."
Megan's smile reassured the raven haired girl- maybe making friends wouldn't actually be too hard. "Yeah, I just got here a little while ago. What grade are you in?" Maybe she was being too forward, but Zee wanted to know if she would have any classes with a familiar face.

The beginning of February was cold, but that didnât stop Tim from sitting outside and fiddling with his camera. His fingers were numb because his gloves were too bulky to wear to work with the camera. It wasnât all bad though. He had figured out a couple of new tricks to work with all of the light bouncing off the snow.
While he was working on switching to a different lens he heard someone walking up behind him, but he didnât turn to see who it was.
Even though it was February and freezing, Zatanna still wanted to see the school grounds. So after she deemed that she had done a decent amount of unpacking, She put on her coat, hat and a pair of gloves, and headed outside. She left the map of the school back in her room, so she didnât really have any idea of where she was going except for outside, but that was a problem for later.Â
She was walking through one of the fields when she saw another person. Funny, she thought she would be the only person out in the cold. As she moved closer, she saw a boy fiddling with a camera. He didnât turn around as she approached, so she spoke, trying not to seem like she was sneaking up on him. âWhat are you taking pictures of?â Dumb question. Most of what was around them was snow. Oh, well, she thought, and waited for him to respond.
Not expecting anyone to actually talk to him he glanced over his shoulder at the sound of the unfamiliar voice. âUm, nothing in particular.â Tim said. âJust experimenting.â
Trying to put a name and face together Tim was positive heâd never seen this student before. âWhat are you doing outside? Itâs not exactly nice out.â he said, trying to sound talkative. (He was sure Dick would be proud.)
"Oh, okay," Zatanna replied. "Are you in the photography club? I was thinking about joining that."Â
"I was just going for a walk outside. I just moved in, so I was trying to explore a little," she explained. "It's probably nicer out when it's not freezing, though- you probably don't get snow in your boots whenever you go outside." She smiled, gesturing to her not-as-tall-as-she-would-like-them-to-be boots. "I'm Zatanna, by the way," the dark haired girl said as she held out her hand.Â

Government. Itâs good to be in for college resumes. Also it gives you a good work ethic. Just donât do too many because you might not have time for other stuff.
Yeah, I thought about that, I just want to try and do as many things as possible. After all, that's how you meet a lot of new people. So, what are the teachers here like?

Most of her bags were in her room already, courtesy of her dad, so she didnât have to worry about anything except for finding the right room. When she reached the door, she fished her key out of her pocket, pushed open the door, and walked inside. The room was a decent size and her bags surrounded one of the two beds in the room. The other one was empty, and Zatanna remembered her dad telling her she would have her own room, which would be nice. Maybe she would get blankets for the other one to make it look nice.
She started taking things out of her bag, arranging and rearranging until she was satisfied. It was tedious, but when she was done the room looked more homey. She was in the process of hanging up her Wicked poster (which she could not get to be straight for some reason) when she heard a knock on the door.

Zatanna smiled. Maybe she could have a good start here. âYeah, I just moved in. Iâm Zatanna,â she said, shaking his hand. âDo you know where the cafeteria is? I thought I knew where it was, but I guess not.â Maybe she had sent her dad away too early, even if she couldnât stand his coddling any longer.
"Thanks," Zatanna told him as she followed his lead. "The school is a lot bigger than I thought," she said, smiling. When he mentioned her dad, that smile turned into a slight grimace. Hopes of her fresh start started to fade. "Yeah, heâs my dad. Do you have him as a teacher?"
Billy smiled and nodded. âYeah. For Theatre. Iâm also in the club.â He said, a little more happier. He was glad he got to met the daughter of one of his favorite teachers, especially one that Mr. Zatara talks about all the time. âWell, itâs nice to finally meet his daughter. He talks about you most of the time. Good things, actually.â
"Oh, okay. I'm doing both of those, too! So I guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other," Zatanna said, smiling. "I guess I expected him to talk about me a lot, but I'm glad it's all good and not embarrassing stories or anything. What are the other teachers like?"
