kill bill x mcr 😝
i’m not an actual hater of the boys s5, i think the reason why people say it’s bad are mostly wrong. i, however, think it is bad in the way that the boys spends so much time calling out racist societal views to then do the very thing they are critiquing. in s3, one of my fav moments is when MM tells annie how unfair it is that butcher is allowed to be absolutely hellbent and fucking insane about killing homelander but the SECOND he wants to be upset and angry and do something about soldier boy, everyone tells him he basically isn’t allowed to and has to control his emotions. in the same vein, in s2 in butcher and stan edgar’s conversation, butcher asks stan edgar why he works for a racist company and edgar’s reply is “rage is a white man’s luxury” (i think). i loved these two moments a lot because i think it is the first time i’ve seen a critique like that in such a popular media source.
(spoilers) so why THE FUCK did MM not get to kill soldier boy. why the fuck did soldier boy not come back at all in the season finale. HE GETS TO LIVE???? after all that??? annie gets to (inadvertently) kill her rapist, butcher gets to kill homelander but MM isn’t “allowed” to enact his revenge against THE MAN WHO MURDERED HIS FAMILY. he doesn’t even really get a final confrontation at all!!! sure, one could argue he’s winning already because he “let go” and is happy with his wife and now two kids, but once again, why did MM have to “turn the other cheek” when the show quite literally made a point to show the injustice in that. eric kripke when i get you.

edward norton PLEASEEEE run around in your boxers and calf socks some more. please. and stick some more guns in your mouth while you’re at it
this is the core of why some women defend beauty standards - if they’re deconstructed even a little they have to face how much money/time they’ve sunk into them. it also exposes how untrue “i did it for myself” really is - if that was true, you wouldn’t be upset that other bodies are being uplifted
el camino is important to me for so many reasons. one of many is that i think jesse’s probable rape (and general abuse) at the hands of todd (and jack + others) is not portrayed mundanely, but rather, quietly sinister. the interactions between todd and jesse are sooo horrific in the most implied way possible and it shows how badly it fucked up jesse. like he’s so numb at this point and literally has no one left so his only friend is also his abuser.
