nobodyâs doing it like neil josten because yeah heâs a weird guy but his love interest isnât a manic pixie dream girl. no, his love interest is instead a depressive monster nightmare boy. and theyâre also both jocks somehow
Kevin should not date anyone he is Andrewâs and Neilâs third but not in a sexual way he is just kinda like their little purse dog
I still don't know my purpose on this planet but I do love reading fanfiction.
what makes Snow such a formidable villain within THG universe is that nothing he does was set in stone. there was no sense of inevitability about his actions and his brutality. Snow had enough perspective of poverty, capital cruelty, district hunger and not to mention his own arena experienceâ and yet he actively chose at every moment to stray from natural goodness. its even more terrifying in the sense that he had the ability to care. Snow is not a mindless sociopath, he displays feelings to others such as sejanus, lucy grey and tigris but ultimately he will always choose himself. his ability to betray those he cared about in order yo advance himself makes him so much more than the stereotypical villain who is forced into his actions.
Suzanne collins wrote a trilogy where a main media propaganda strategy was to market a horrific act of violence as a love story to distract ppl and then it got adapted into a box office breaking movie and ppl made it all about the love triangle. so then since they didnât get the point the first time Suzanne collins wrote a prequel story about the main dictator and she makes it so that you as a reader want it to be a genuine love story so badly even tho itâs so very clearly not and instead feels extremely unsettling to make her point even more meta which then gets adapted into another box office breaking film and now ppl are making romantic snowbaird tik toks. do u think sheâs gonna write another book thatâs somehow even more blatant or just give up and start executing ppl? hard to say but I wouldnât blame her for the second one
probably tomorrow i'm gonna somehow be more organized and disciplined than i ever have been in my whole life so i'm fine probably
so a very long time ago, my dad worked with an arson investigator
this guy was often one of the first people on the scene following a suspected arson, once emergency services had done what they needed to do. at times, there were also civilians on the periphery. often, they were freaking out, and understandably so; their home or workplace had just, quite literally, gone up in smoke
this investigator wouldnât try to calm them down. he wouldnât comfort them or be a shoulder to cry on.
instead, heâd walk up to the person most visibly losing their shit, hand them a fire extinguisher, and say âhey, can you keep an eye out for any other fires, and if you see one, can you put it out with this?â
of course, there was no actual risk of another fire. he wouldnât be on the scene investigating if there was even a chance that the fire wasnât completely put out. but the bystander didnât need to know that
because that person, without fail, would immediately pull it together, take the fire extinguisher, and stand guard. they were, at least temporarily, calm enough for this investigator to do this job
my dad has told me the parable of the fire extinguisher a hundred times, and i think about it a lot. i think about what it says about people and crises. i think about what it says about the grounding power of having a purpose. and i think about the importance of letting someone help me through something, even if that help is just going to be another casserole to throw into the freezer, because useless or not, that fire extinguisher might be the only thing holding them together
you have to be in a certain specific mood to listen to classic rock because sometimes a guy is playing his guitar and you're just like shut the fuck up man
when u look at 2017 and think âoh thatâs only like 3 years agoâ and itâs actually 12,000 years ago and everything is gone and everyone you know has been reduced to ash and the world is completely different
truly just as we have universal health care we need to have universal death care. dying is not optional and funerals should not be a financial burden for families.
Everyone warns you agaist going to the supermarket hungry, but nobody tells you about the dangers of going there too full: I do not want any of these things, for I will never require any food again at all!

Ok finished Next To Normal and 10/10 I cried my eyes out.
No shade to PBS but being so pearl clutching about curse words in a show about severe mental health conditions, drug abuse, and a suicide attempt is so fucking american and ridiculous
As someone who knows the text too well, I was low key distracted by Natalie being unable to say "FUCK THIS"
