cats & dogs --
He meant to follow after the cat but his stomach growled in protest. Staring down at it for a long moment, the memory that he’d let Adley stick her snout in nearly every box of takeout he ordered, came flooding back to him. He thought of his options for a moment. His fridge never did well. Not that he didn’t enjoy spending time in his kitchen, it was one of the more normal things he found himself indulging in if he could spare the time. Food however, could never last long in his place. He was gone for days on end and often when he returned everything was spoiled. He solved that problem by no longer keeping food in the house.
Pulling the fridge door open, he surveyed his choices. Yogurt, which may or may not have gone bad, slices of pizza in a Ziploc bag with mold growing along the crust, and bread. Slim pickings. He settled on the yogurt. Pulling the cup from the shelf, he peeled back the lid and gave it a childish sniff. Only a few days past the expiration date, but it should still be good. He spooned a glob into his mouth for a taste test and shrugged. It would do. Now he had to check on his house guest.
He’d barely made it down the hall when she spoke. She being the strange naked woman in his home. Blinking owlishly for just a moment, the combat knife tucked into his pants was pulled out. This fell under the category of unusal. He didn’t know how to react. This was either a very strange dream, some sinister way of distracting him from a kill squad, or—he was out of ideas. Eyes narrowing he took a step backward.
"Only the ones I like. Seems I made a mistake." He grinned, utilizing a trick the NIS taught him. Respond when the enemy taunts you, it buys more time and gives a few extra minutes for assessment. He didn’t want his eyes to roam but that’s precisely what he found himself doing. It was for preservation sake. He had to ensure she wasn’t armed. Being naked didn’t give her a free pass out, but it did bring up a few questions.
"Don’t get me wrong. I’m flattered that you wanted to get my attention but knocking on the door fully clothed would’ve sufficed too." Feeling brave he moved in toward her, twirling the pommel of the knife between his ingers. A reflex that meant if she didn’t move the way he liked, the knife would be thrown right at her throat.
"So plan on telling me why you’re here?" I have to point out this story better be a good one, or I’ll be pleading self defense in a court in a month or so."
Only the ones he liked. Lillith gave a derisive snort to show just how little she thought of that and crossed her arms just below her bosom. Naked though she was, she saw no reason to let that affect just how this situation was handled. Of course he'd made a mistake. Most men did. It wasn't their fault they ran about beating their chests. It was instinctually programmed into them, the poor sods. Her eyes snapped up to the gent's face at his next words, a delicate brow arching up at him as though she were asking if he really wanted to go there. "Well if I had come here of my own volition, perhaps I would have had a chance to consider knocking." She lifted a hand, waving it about to punctuate her words. "Instead, I was chased by that hellbeast of yours and you kidnapped me." Had she had her powers, this never would have happened. Hell, had she not been a cat, this never would have happened. Finally, she dropped her eyes to the knife and gave it a dry look. It was less likely to kill her then the man who wielded it was. Over the years, so much had happened to her and the only lasting damage she'd ever come into contact with had been those damned runes against cursed beings. So she figured that unless that knife was runed, she would be alright to some degree. He moved towards her and she moved with him, making his advance a sort of dance. It wasn't a retreat for she never truly moved away from him. She simply kept him at a distance she deemed best for the both of them. If she could get to the door without him realizing, then she would make a break for it. "Don't be a fool." Her voice crackled with animosity. "Put your knife away. Goodness, boys and their toys. I'm nude. Where do you expect me to put a weapon?!" She'd noticed the once over, oh yes she had. After a moment's speculation, she gestured down wards. "I'm really not willing to turn my nether regions into an armoury." Laughter bubbled, mocking. What was she doing here? "Well, you know what I'm doing here." The look on his face when he realized he'd brought her here would be priceless, she was sure. "Meow." She practically purred the word out.
