Wednesday targeting Xavier as the hyde: A quick plot hole.

I just wanted to enlighten this fact I noticed: Season 2 proved us that hybrids in this universe do not exist. Tho different types of outcasts can get together and have children, they will never be born with 2 different kinds of powers. We could technically figure this out by s1 already, but s2 confirmed it by mentioning Wed's family and Capri ( who is born werewolf with a hyde's father ). It is important to note that this information is something that we understand collaterally, not a focus on the show. All characters are technically aware of this since forever. It's just us needing stuff to figure it out. For them, it's default world knowledge. Given this, a plot hole in s1 is born. Wed suspected of Xavier being the hyde for far too long. It is only justifiable for the short amount of time where, on the first few episodes, she wasn't even aware that Hydes where a type of outcasts. But soon after she'd figured it out, she should have dropped Xavier suspects on the spot, as he was already confirmed to be a different type of outcast from episode 1.

i perfectly agree that wednesday suspecting xavier even after learning that hydes are a type of outcast was a plot hole. that's an excellent analysis. 

but i would like to interject about the fact that outcast children will never be born with two types of abilities because it might be plausible though extremely rare. in fact, we might have already seen a hybrid as early as the first season of the show and that is xavier thorpe himself. we all know that he identify as a psychic (raven) because of his visions but what about his ability to bring his own drawings to life? isn't that a da vinci skillset? now, da vincis are known to move things with their minds and are naturally artistic, creative and/or geniuses to a degree. xavier obviously do not have telekinesis, however, he can control or animate his own drawings. it's also feasible that his painting skills/artistic talents comes from being part da vinci too, perhaps his mom is one but we'll never know. so it might be possible to inherit both traits but it does not manifest completely because xavier's da vinci abilities are way too toned down compared to a full-fledged one. that is possibly why he falls under the psychic umbrella rather than the alternative.

so if we follow that thought hypothetically, knowing he is already a mix of two outcast type, how can wednesday addams be so foolish as to think he is a hyde too? like, wasn't that overkill and statistically impossible? having a single outcast ability is a rarity in and of itself, having two is a nigh improbability, having three is a deadass impossibility it's just irrational lmao, definitely not a well-thought move from millar and gough XD

like he was given a task and he’s gonna do it. It’s just… he wasn’t trained the right way. He gets the job done but now they’re saying it’s not right. It’s not safe. What do you mean? You should have told him the right way the first time!

And I think that’s a lot of where his anger comes from.

He will listen to commands(Bucky correcting him when he moved to pull his gun on Val) and he liked praise(the girls jokingly praising his gun) but he gets mixed signals a lot. That can be frustrating.

i often see this sentiment floating around that John is so fragile ego and pathetic for always reacting to someone making fun of him for the Cap stuff, like Val's junior varsity cap comments, and i just have to wonder, did yall not grasp the fact that he lost everything in his life because of that whole Cap title stuff????

his best friend was killed in front of his eyes, his career that he bled and sacrificed for was stripped away from him, the government tossed him out with no access to healthcare, and his depression and trauma cost him his wife and kid - whether some of those things are his fault or not, it is still deeply traumatic, so why the fuck would you expect him to not react or get angry or "get triggered" every time someone decides to throw all that loss in his face like it's a funny joke?

he's a human being, not a machine. whether you think it's justified or not, there are very valid reasons that he is short-tempered when people make a Cap related joke at his expense.

are you gonna tell me that when people make fun of or is dismissive about your worst trauma, you'd just be fine with it? no, i doubt that, because you're a human being too.

and maybe, just maybe, people can also recognize that perhaps the reason he can't move on from all of that and stop being "triggered" and so "fragile ego" is because the world won't let him move on?? how the fuck is anyone supposed to process and heal from trauma if others are just gonna bring it up and throw it in their faces all the time??

maybe john's "ego" wouldn't have such a problem with all the cap jokes if people just took a moment to seriously recognize all the traumatic shit that's attached to it and not stick their fingers into an open wound and then act like he's "too sensitive" to get over it
