Okay so kinda cherry and Luke but not, could you do a blurb about Nico and Jack in that universe? Like either Luke noticing them or maybe the two of them trying to figure out what’s going on with Luke/sneaking around? I feel like either could be at anytime so you don’t have to figure out where it is in the timeline :)
okay i LOVED this!! kinda lost on how to tag it but we move!! thank you for requesting!🫶🏽

“Oh, come on.”
“You’re being dramatic.”
“And you’re being mean.”
“Mean?” Nico repeated, a grin on his face as he laughed at the downright pissy expression on the younger boy’s face. He was seconds away from pouting and a voice in the back of his head told him he shouldn’t be that endeared by the whole thing.
But he was. He always was when it came to Jack.
“Mean,” Jack confirmed with a nod, huffing a little as he spun around on the breakfast counter chair, waiting to do a full loop before he could see Nico again. “I’m his brother. It’s, like, my constitutional right to know his business.”
Nico looked at him with an absolutely lovesick expression. “Müüsli, that is not a thing.”
Jack’s cheeks turned pink. “It so too is a thing.”
Nico snorted. “It is not. But hypothetically, if it was—”
“Which it is,” Jack added.
“Would it not be my constitutional right as his captain to keep some form of confidentiality between us?” Nico countered, his own sentence feeling like molasses in his mouth as he tried to push through the awkward way his accent wrapped around the words.
“Absolutely not,” Jack replied instantly, his eyes narrowing at the Swiss with newfound annoyance. “Not when it means you are hiding stuff from me.”
“You’re too nosy for your own good,” Nico retorted, turning his attention back to the stove in front of him. It had become a familiar routine for Jack to plant himself on the second seat at the breakfast counter whilst Nico whipped something up for them after practices. They had been doing it for years, and hopefully continuing it for years to come.
However, somewhere between the rink and the journey home, Jack had caught on that his little brother had been confiding in his captain. Which, in itself, isn’t a bad thing. Jack loved that Luke trusted the team, that he was settling in well.
He just didn’t like it when it was at the expense of him being out of the loop.
“You’re making this into a bigger deal than it needs to be,” Nico continued, ignoring the squawk of disagreements Jack let out. “He’s a big boy. He can handle himself. I just gave him a fresh perspective on something. That’s all.”
“It was love advice, wasn’t it? That’s why you’re being so cagey, right?” Jack questioned, his glare hardening against the back of Nico’s head when the boy didn’t reply. “Or were you getting love advice from Luke?”
Nico’s head snapped around, his lips parted in surprise. “What?”
Jack kept going. “Because, no offence to Luke—I love the boy, I do—but he is, like, the worst person to ask. Until recently, I was ninety-nine percent sure he was scared of women and somehow used some, like, mime flirting to get this far in life.”
Nico blinked. “Mime flirting?”
“It’s a thing.”
“It is not a thing.”
“It so is.”
“Oh my god,” Nico laughed, shaking his head. “Maybe I should go to Luke for advice if this is the advice you are giving.”
Something burned in his chest. “Wait, you were actually getting advice from Luke? You’re seeing someone and didn’t tell me? Who is it? Why didn’t you say anything? Do I know them—”
Nico looked smitten and fond as he shook his head. “It was me helping him, Müüsli, don’t worry about it.”
Jack hummed, nodding. “So, you’re definitely not seeing anyone?”
It continues to break my heart that people continue to go through masterlists and "read" fic upon fic and not say a word. Not even consider a reblog of it, just pass by with a simple like.
What makes the blow even worse is getting a new follower, and checking their blog (mainly to verify they're not a bot or minor) and see that they DO in fact, reblog other fics from other writers, just not the numerous ones they've gone through of yours.
And then what really rubs salt in the wound is when they're fics from the most niche fandom, for a character hardly anyone knows/cares about, and they still have nothing to say about it. I just know if it were me finding an author who dedicated hours to creating a whole life for my beloved character outside of the one small piece of media we were given, I'd be singing their praises from the rooftops and thanking them, and most definitely doing my best to strike up a conversation because how amazing is it to find someone else who loves that one unpopular thing as much as you?
More and more incredibly talented writers and artists are leaving this platform because of issues like this and it's honestly no longer surprising. Engagement and interaction are so tragically low and only getting worse, and it's discouraging people from wanting to continue sharing the things they love because fandom was, and should be, about the community that surrounds it.
Please, for the love of fandom and all the things you love, engage in some way other than likes.
what if you were an ANNOYING AMERICAN BOY who beat a SWEET CANADIAN BOY at THE junior tournament and he HATED you but then you SAT ON THE PLANE TOGETHER and you made him LAUGH and you became BEST FRIENDS and a SECRET HANDSHAKE and a SHARED ROOFTOP PLAYLIST and DEBUT GOALS MINUTES APART and you both became the SUPERSTAR SAVIORS of your FAILING FRANCHISE but then he got TRADED away and you kept getting INJURED and said the injuries HURT LESS THAN THE TRADE and EVERYBODY called you WASHED UP while he THRIVED but THEN YOU GOT TRADED BACK TO HIM??
