I MOVED. FIND ME HERE.
tbh i think shiro just feels personally responsible for pidge bc of matt and sam, both of which shiro was with when they got kidnapped and he probably feels guilt about it. i don’t think his relationship with pidge demonstrates favoritism, bc if you feel like it's pidge > anyone else for shiro, well... it's everyone = everyone for shiro. i don’t think there is favoritism for shiro. i’m under the impression that he feels like the only way he can be redeemed is if he saves everyone else, even if it means sacrificing himself, hence why he found it so hard for him to leave allura behind even if he had no other choice. he wants his team to pull through and to save everyone, because he has too much compassion to watch everything turn to ash. there’s too much passion there to be reserved for just one person.
SHOW ME OUR HAPPY ENDING.
“a little off–? I don’t get it,” Lance says, his face falling with concern (or, a fear he wasn’t aware of). His eyes fall, clouded with thought as he carefully – for once – considers what Keith is saying to him. Something clicks when Coran’s face appears in his memory, and Lance can barely hide the sentimentality that strikes with the discovery. Lance huffs through his nose, and he’s crossing his arms, lips curled into a frown.
“Nnnope – not pretending. I’m totally fine, so you guys can stop asking already!”
❛ yeah, whatever you say. i was just trying to help. ❜
THE CURVE OF HIS MOUTH flattens itself into an empty line, the hand on lance’s shoulder sliding off with a sudden heaviness as a sharp exhale breaches his lips. he doesn’t want to make assumptions without knowing more facts, but he’s never been one to misjudge a situation based on something he’d been able to pick up well. no, he can’t prove anything is wrong, but he noticed the shift in behavior a while ago, and he tends to trust his intuition more than the contrary piece offered by the person in question.
❛ ... we’re supposed to be a team, lance. i don’t know what your deal is, but no one ever told you that you had to take it all by yourself. ❜
alright, so, here’s the deal. i’m going to be going through my blog and cleaning it up. if i owe you a reply and i don't reply to your thread within the next month, consider it dropped. my muse for keith is here but he’s not cooperating; i think i’m just stressed out, so i’m doing this in an effort to bring the muse back full swing. thank you guys for being patient, and i apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

for those of you wondering why keith’s surname in the original voltron was pronounced as cogain when it’s supposedly spelled kogane: in the english version of voltron, keith’s name is spelled cogain. keith akira cogain.
LEAD US HOME.
at most times, shiro would feel it; LEADER-BORN to show his team the paths that made them victorious, OOZING with charisma and the command in his tone. at other times, it would feel like he was babysitting a party of children. this wasn’t exactly an exception ( would conversations like this start to become the norm? )
❛ i don’t know what the problem is between the pair of you. but this ISN’T how a team acts and you two need to know it off and set your differences aside. ❜
THERE’S A SIGH RESTING ON the corners of his lips as he places a hand on his hip, expression devoid of anything other than a lack of amusement on his part. he recognizes their difficulty in being able to portray efficiency more often than their portrayal of their inability to work together functionally, but if you were to ask him why he thinks that is, he wouldn’t really have an answer for you.
❛ we don’t even have a problem, really. … as far as i know. for some reason, he just singled me out as his proverbial punching bag. it’s annoying. ❜
lays tf down with his face on his lap, EXHAUSTED.
HIS BREATH GHOSTS THE CORNERS of his lips, lingering in soft surprise at the abruptness of weight now resting on his lap, but he doesn’t particularly mind the disturbance too much. one of his arms is draped across the back of his seat, the other quick to occupy itself by running through the hair at the base of lance’s neck. lance’s breathing is labored and choppy, jutting through the curve of his mouth, and keith’s words are presently wedged between his teeth. the silent gestures aren’t out of fear or hesitation, but rather out of his awareness in the lack of gentleness words would then create. the language in his eyes is in compliance with the adoration, and it’s lost in the sweat beginning to pool at the small of his back, grinding against the lining of his throat, a quiet hum playing against the shell of his ear.
just several moments prior, lance had finished sparring with shiro in the training room; allura and coran combined have been putting more emphasis on close combat and have asked the team to work on improving their personal performance in battle, due to their near failure in a previous mission to take back a small planet colonized by the galra, and the stress has been working against each paladin differently. keith, so far, has been extremely adept and his capability improves rapidly with each training exercise, mostly because he doesn’t want to disappoint the team. on the other hand, lance struggles with a lot of the maneuvers, although he’s growing to become a quick learner. for the most part, the both of them have frequently been training together in the comfort of solitude and in each other’s company, but recently keith had suggested that lance should practice with the drones on his own or begin to train with someone else; his reasoning for this suggestion is simple, really. not all combat situations are linear, and he feels it’s most important to be prepared for anything. shiro, naturally, was his first suggestion for a new sparring partner; he could vividly remember the look of sheer skepticism on lance’s face before it turned to mock confidence after keith made a comment about lance’s fear in taking shiro on. right now, he can feel the pressure that’s been placed on lance due to the circumstance, sweat causing his hair to stick to his skin, and he adjusts himself slightly in an effort to sit up straighter against the back of the couch to get more comfortable.
the heaviness in his lap is a welcomed warmth, keith’s once available hand now running up and down lance’s back softly, rubbing into his skin through the fabric of his jacket. touch isn’t something frequently initiated by keith; nonetheless, in the moment, it felt natural, and lance didn't appear to be disatissfied with it. they sit in comfortable silence for a while, the only sound breaking the tenderness being their breaths while lance adjusts his face slightly to give his mouth more accessibility, before lance decides to speak. ‘ dude, you should’ve warned me about shiro’s otherworldly strength before i walked in there. i don’t think i can feel my arms. ’ keith snorts, his fingers halting their movement momentarily, resuming after he feels a puff of air brush against his leg in response to keith’s gesture.
❛ i figured you made that assumption on your own a while ago. ❜
lance lets out a load groan, and keith’s lips curve upward; there’s a laugh underlining his tongue, but it doesn’t drape itself across the arch of his smile. his tone is suspended a little above a whisper.
❛ … stop opening your mouth. your chin keeps digging into my thigh. ❜
lol farts on u
Keith is a ball of pure angst. Someone please help this boy
THE DEATH OF SUNRISE LINGERS in the creases of his eyes, in the suspended vacancy of them where language once stood in immaculate, ancient refuge. hope has been underlined with hesitation, constricting his lungs and taking what stood in the space between his ribs; his heart is smeared across a scarlet wall of saturated calamity, and he hopes his caution doesn’t have to drown in legitimate threat. they have the resplendency of relative innocence still, enough to subtly silence the heavy thrum against the shell of his ear, a sharp exhale on his lips as he shares a glance.
❛ i, uh … you guys took me by surprise, that’s all. ❜ // petalscatter.
THE STRENGTH OF MIND.
“ What’s there to talk about? You saw what happened. I failed Coran’s stupid test again. ”
Escaping the training room only did so much to alleviate their accumulating frustration, the rest is cultivated into sharp words and a standoffish attitude that they imminently regret. True, Keith wears his skin thicker than the others, but he’s still undeserving to bear the brunt of Pidge’s irritation brought forth by their own shortcomings. The paladin’s gilded body falls to rest on the palace steps, tuckered out by the repertoire of failures taking its toll on their physical and mental strength. Anger simmers into an empty sadness, and all their usual gusto is sapped alongside their energy.
“ … Sorry. I didn’t mean… Look, it’s just hard. I’m not like you, I don’t have an aptitude for this sort of thing. I keep letting the team down and it’s just getting to me, y’know? ”
❛ those drones aren’t the easiest things to work with. even if it looks like i’m getting the hang of it, i’m actually struggling, too. ❜
HE ISN’T SLASHED WITH THE acidity of the words grinding against pidge’s teeth; rather, he finds it easy to identify with. his suit is draped across an arm, the other occupied with the various, separate components of the armor, still warm from the previous exercise identified as the source of the frustration from both. perhaps keith holds enough adaptability to assist him in the expanding awareness of his presence within team voltron, but he still maintains his own sets of faults and insecurities, and some of them may present themselves to be threats in the future. however, he reasoned long ago that if he spent too much time worrying about them, he would only hold himself back. the standard aloofness engraved into his demeanor is his own way of coping with the stress of it all.
he situates himself next to pidge, setting everything down on the steps to his right, a sharp exhale on the edges of his lips; he hopes the following words will be satisfactory enough to bring his friend to even a slight semblance of ease.
❛ … for what it’s worth, you’re not letting anyone down. you’ve made us all proud and you continue to; not everyone can step into a situation like this and do what you have. -— it’s impressive. ❜
ugh today i work a 9 hour shift from 10 to 7, and i work the same shift tomorrow. i’ll try to be here, but i literally am so exhausted when i come home that i’m probably just going to be aggressively sleeping for the next 2 days. i will try to be here after, since i get the following 3 off. thanks for being patient with me.
this scene right here, i want to talk about this. i’m pretty sure someone has already, but OH WELL, I WANT TO GET MY THOUGHTS OUT.
this was when allura was telling the boys that they were to be the new paladins, right? and shiro’s just YES MA’AM -- but in all seriousness, they all looked kind of uncertain, hesitant. you’re taking these teenagers that have no formal experience with anything other than what was taught at the garrison, and former prisoner struggling to figure out the truth behind everything while dealing with ptsd-like symptoms that interrupt his ability to accurately function, and you’re asking them to become defenders of the universe. they look lost. then flip over to this.
look at their facial expressions, and... notice that lance’s hasn’t changed whatsoever.
do correct me if i’m wrong here, but i think lance is paralyzed by the fact that he’s not going home any time soon, coupled with a lot of other things; for someone who comes off as being very obnoxious, he’s also extremely easy to read. lance, the goofball with a terrible sense of humor, has a lot of insecurities about himself and anything related, and he’s just generally a multifaceted character with a heart of gold. he’s worried over himself and over things that could go wrong in which he would blame himself for, but here is where he realizes that it’s going to be a while before his life shows a shred of previous normalcy. remember that conversation he has with coran where he misses home? i think that directly ties into this scene here. the lack of a changing facial expression to accompany everyone else’s is very powerful to me and i noticed it immediately; no one else can see his face but allura and coran, and i don’t even think they noticed. lance’s insecurities are what create his presence around others, which makes it difficult to tell when something with him is genuinely wrong until he cracks, like you see here.
but here, in this moment, he’s been struck with all of these negative feelings and he’s overwhelmed by them, he doesn’t even think to crack a joke or anything like that, because he’s struggling to process. it’s genuine. conveniently enough, no one’s looking (not that he would probably care to conceal his emotions in this instance anyway but still), so he’s free to... express himself in the moment, without fear of judgment. this is the moment where lance becomes more than the joke, but where you can see the extent of his humanity and everything he holds down for everyone else.
