Most of my stuff is slowburn with an unhealthy balance of hurt/comfort and fluff. NSFW/Smut tagged appropriately. I tend to post a few chapters at a time before disappearing for a few weeks.

Nothing about the street is different. Maybe the time of day you're driving down it, if anything, but otherwise it's all the same. It's the same feeling as coming home from vacation as a kid. Except that when you've only been gone a week or two, you know that nothing should've changed, even if it feels like it should all be different. You aren't much different either, really. Which might be more confusing than every house looking as it did when you left. Of course you've grown, changed, learned. It's just a new coat of paint, though. The floorplan is still the same once you get through the door and start looking at who you really are.
Mrrrrow!
"I know, Beans, we're almost there. For real this time."
You poke a finger through a hole in the carrier. The tip of your finger brushes the very end of Beans' whisker. It's a pathetic attempt at comforting him and it almost feels more cruel than ignoring his pleas, but you don't have much choice in the matter.
A wave of relief washes over you as you creep closer to your destination and find the driveway empty. Tomorrow. The hard part will be tomorrow. You hum to yourself and watch for a free spot near enough to unload from. Beans groans and twists in his carrier, eager to stretch his legs and get his revenge. You can't say you blame him, it's been an unreasonably long drive. Another night curled up in this car might have done more damage to your spine than you could ever hope to reverse. Sleeping in a bed would be worth the awkwardness of being home. Probably.
When you open the car door the silence of suburbia leaves you feeling like you're under water. Beans does you the favor of interrupting it as you find your land legs, in case you've forgotten him already. Your knees wobble under you as you round to your passenger door and retrieve your cat. "Can you wait just one second?" you ask him.
Mrow. No. It's been many seconds.
Which is true. Maybe you should've gotten some cat audiobooks, too, to help him pass the time better.
You set his carrier on the ground next to you. It's a shame you hadn't taken on a minimalist lifestyle. Moving all of this into the house was not something you were looking forward to. Tomorrow me's problem, you decide. It takes a moment, but you pry the bag with Beans' and your essentials for the night and close the door behind you. Arms full between your cat and his many things, you head toward a front door you hadn't pictured yourself ever walking through again.
on the topic of disabled characters, though, i think a LOT of artists give characters mobility aids that their character wouldn't actually benefit from using.
i'm sort of having a mild brain fog moment rn so i can't fully articulate what i'm on about, but i think a lot of able-bodied artists view things like canes and crutches as interchangeable. and they often don't know enough about the wide range of mobility aids to make an informed decision about what their character might actually use based on their disability
i also think that aids like walkers and rollators are sort of viewed as "cringe" on some level, and many people view them to be "just for old people," so many artists will opt for giving a character who has full-body pain and fatigue a cane (which, in many cases, can potentially WORSEN full-body pain) instead. and a lot of people don't realize that most wheelchair users are able to walk, so they don't consider it an option for characters with chronic pain
idk it's kind of frustrating. i've genuinely never, ever seen a character that uses a rollator before. not once. i cannot name a single one. i know of multiple ocs who are described to have full-body pain, dizziness, and fatigue that are drawn as cane users and are never shown with wheelchairs or walkers, though
it's also sort of sad? i've been diagnosed since i was twelve years old, and i only heard of rollators LAST YEAR. and that was only because i saw one irl and immediately asked what it was. i wonder how many disabled people out there don't even know it's an option solely because they're completely underrepresented online and in media
if you're a creative with a disabled oc, PLEASEEE check out this link. it's a very nice and detailed guide for telling which mobility aids suit someone's needs best. it's incredibly important to make the right choice for your character! mobility aids tell you a LOT about someone's lived experience. picking the right one will communicate to your audience #1 what your character goes through #2 that you UNDERSTAND what your character goes through!
Going insane thinking about inumimi!Hobie who is trying to hide his excitement next to me but I hear a suspicious amount of thumping on the bed because his tail is wagging at 800 mph and giving him away... 🥹🖤ansbxjsbdjsbs
Bie... is just so very pretty. Does he know that? Of course, he knows he's gorgeous, look at how he carries himself, but... could he ever hope to know, how my chest tightens when we're sat together, shoulder to shoulder? Admiring how the shitty tv light hits his face? Staring at the rise and fall of his chest and how it stutters when he chuckles? DOES HE KNOW????? DOES HE KNOW HOW UNWELL HE MAKES ME. DOES HE KNOW I WOULD KILL TO PRESERVE THAT NORMALCY. UGH. 😫😫
