life recently: missing the gloomy weather, lots of scribbling in my journal, finding cats to pet
Sunday reset ✨
Incredibly stressed. Met my deadlines for scholarships but now I only have 7 days for the main assignment for this year of studies
Haven't checked my notifications in a couple weeks so if you've commented something or texted I'm not ignoring on purpose I'll be back to semi-normal in a week :)

Okay I have things I should be seeing to but I couldn't help myself. In case you, like me, have not read all of these stories and would like to be amongst the lucky 10,000 today:
I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison
The King in Yellow by Robert W Chambers*
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson**
The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe
The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs
The Most Dangerous Game by Richard O'Connell
The Nameless City by HP Lovecraft
The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula K LeGuin
There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
The Veldt by Ray Bradbury
Honorable Mention from the comments/reblogs:
All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury
*note: this is actually a collection of short stories and clocks in at about 72k words
**Originally published in the New Yorker in 1948; interestingly, the New Yorker still has this story archived on their website BEHIND A PAYWALL. CAN YOU IMAGINE.

don’t make other people’s decisions for them. apply for the job you don’t think you’ll get. let them decide if you have the skills they’re looking for. tell that person you like them even though you think they’re out of your league. let them decide if they like you. stop trying to predict and control everything. bring what you have to the table. let the rest go.
Confidence is not ‘they will like me’, it is ‘I’ll be fine, or even better off, if they don’t’.
finished puzzle just in time for spring 🌷
one of the most boring lessons I’ve learned is that when a task feels overwhelming, you just have to start doing it. Even if you’re not sure how to do 90% of it, look for one small component that seems close and start there. Sometimes it’s reading one article on the topic, or searching one related term, or literally just googling how to do the task. Do anything other than thinking about it. The process of working on a thing inherently makes it less scary.

I haven't posted in ages but I'm starting a new teaching job tomorrow! Without taking pics for the studyblr my phone gallery has become just screenshots and that is a travesty because where is the record of whimsy? The documentation of memory? The preservation of everyday joy and struggle? Needless to say I will try to post more often now. I do have a small backlog of posts that I am determined to post soon. And no doubt will have new struggles to cry abt tmrw trustt ✊🏽 And Ramadan Mubarak to my fav tumblrinas!!! I miss doing the Ramadan posts lowkey 😭💔
