Ah Mo Xiuyao is becoming more and more enchanted with his wife, as he should be! She is the whole package, horrible dad terrorizer by night and cheerful outfit fixing life by day.
Just the thought of her makes him smile now!!
Wuyou! Getting to have a childhood with a supportive family! That whole prince mansion no longer drowning in sorrow. So much happiness this early in a cdrama never lasts though 😢
I think this is the first time I've seen a drama where the servants eat with the masters? :o In fact it's rare that a drama even shows servants eating at all lol
The prefecture office stuff is a bit boring so far but mmmm it is hot to see him so competent.
The drama is so pretty, and I'm appreciating how it's dealing with its themes and how it's letting our two mains get closer very naturally, they have such organic chemistry, its not scorching (yet?) but they have this comfortable intimacy that's lovely to watch and I feel quite rare in dramas.
I love the visual language this drama is going for, her with the Celestial maiden painting, them sharing a bed and the shot of two pairs of shoes, him asking for her help for the first time and the shot of their two clasped hands
That whole temple sequence was a delight and then the "kidnapping" and "assassination" oh dear. Ye Li, this is where plotting things doesn't always work out the way you think or want. Your poor husband was so concerned!!! (but mmmm distraught Cheng Lei is A Look)
Loser Prince needs to step the fuck off I really don't care about his pain, but Ye Ying and her wannabe assassin continue to be a delight and I want them to make the prettiest (and dumbest) babies please. I just need Ye Ying to not have a shitty husband.
Ye Li is about as messed up in the head as she is cute, which is kinda terrifying. It is lovely to see her turn on the charm for her husband though, and how quickly he folds in the face of her puppy eyes.
Truly Ye Li has masked so well she's basically fooling herself, which definitely is part of her coping mechanism and trauma response but oof, Mo Xiuyao is also justifiably mad at her for forcing him and manipulating his choice
Welp so her family is responsible for the lost decree? God everyone but her and her Mom were useless in that family, did they basically let her mom starve??
