Sketchbook stuff, ladies, plants and peacocks 🌿
Illustration from my notebook April 2024
I've been working in my sketchbooks again for the first time in years, I've had some serious art block since I left college but thankfully I'm getting out of it

Hey Hollieeee how have you been? I didn't see you around for some time! How's life going? Hope u had a great Valentine's day!
Hey! I'm doing pretty good! Life's kind of stressful right now but when is it not 😂 how are you? I had a lovely valentine's day, my wonderful gf and I spent the day in bed drinking champagne and eating cheese, good times! 😂☺️✨
The uncensored version of this probably wouldn’t make it past Apples bs but trust me it’s a nice nipple lmao, my Commissions are open if anyone is interested in a digital illustration of their OCs whether it be DnD related or what have you, get in touch on here or through my email [email protected] :D
I’ve been trying to find my style as a digital illustrator recently, I want my digital work to be as impactful as my watercolour illustrations
print available on my Redbubble https://www.redbubble.com/people/Holliepaints/shop?asc=u
I’ve been getting back into working this past month and it’s felt great! Here’s a visual development page for one of my characters Carla
I went back to my angsty dark style I loved to do when I was a teenager for this notebook and it was a lot of fun
some notebook stuff from last year, I’ve barely made any art since finishing college, there’s something wrong with be :(
Can we talk private
Haha I mean sure, about what?
How are your drawings/paintings so good?
I have sacrificed many a goat... Nah I think that the most important thing I did when learning to paint/draw was keeping sketch books, drawing every day, finding artists I really love and trying to emulate what they do in my own work. The trick to not seeming like a total rip off of other artists is to have as many influences as possible and to borrow from all of them! Another thing I strongly encourage is to lean into your medium! Whether it be watercolour, oil pastel, acrylic, markers, graphite or whatever you like to use, use the shit out of it, figure out what your medium/mediums does/do best and take full advantage of it. Do not be afraid to experiment and be messy! Add texture and pattern and light into your work, be nuts and do everything and eventually you'll figure out what suits you best! You can take the skills you learned from traditional media and apply them to your digital works as well, I did not know how to paint digitally until I had to do it for an assignment in third year of college and rather than watching tutorials by loish or those guys who make video game concept art (you know very much "digital art") I stayed tru to myself as a traditional painter and made photoshop do what I needed it to do. I made textures and brought in swatches and traditionally painted elements and learned how to use the filters (hard light at 80% is my fave) to build layers of light and colour and texture and I ended up really enjoying it! I don't know where I'm going with this haha, what I'm trying to say is in order to make good art you have to make a shit ton of art, if you really want to do it professionally you have to love it and want to do it all the time! Otherwise just have fun and don't worry about your skill level, if you're looking at other for inspiration and you draw enough the improvement will come 😊
When's the movie coming out
It's out! Sorta, I'm still submitting to festivals and stuff so I can't really post it anywhere but if you found my portfolio you'd be able to watch it... (my portfolio is linked on my linked in, Hollie Murphy :))
Love your art. Any chance you will sell some digital prints?
Thanks so much! I want to! now that I have a job I should probably look into getting some prints done... I'll get back to you on that :D
Can talk to you
Yah, hey!
Watercolour on paper, December 2020
Ya boi got a full time job recently as a 2d designer and Background artist in Kavaleer! It's weird how having job has motivated me to paint again when I was free all summer and barely painted at all! Maybe I'm the kind of person who needs structure in order to create 🤔
