hello! my name is magpie/maggie. i'm 31, he/him pronouns, and this is my sideblog specifically centred around my magical practice and general spirit work. i want to create a safe space for people to find resources, information, personal experience, and ask questions. this is a side blog, where my main is wormhead - don't feel like you have to follow though! i also have a blog dedicated to pop culture paganism and magic: @popculturealtar. feel free to check it out!

⛧ i am mentally ill and disabled. the condition that affects me the most is my chronic fatigue paired with arthritis which makes it 10x worse, so i can't promise i will always be here.

⛧ i am neurodivergent, which affects my ability to read unformatted, large chunks of text effectively. i will try to make my text as readable and followable as possible, but if there's anything i can do to help that, please let me know.

I've been seeing a lot of posts and clips online lately listing "meditation essentials" and going over things like incense scents, singing bowls and standing bells, chimes, meditation cushions, etc. As someone who has maintained a meditation practice for several years now and who meditates daily, I just want you all to know that if you're wanting to get started in meditation, the only essential is the will to actually meditate. That's it.

You can meditate anytime, anywhere. You can meditate sitting, standing, laying down, walking. You do not need anything aside from yourself to meditate. Genuinely, that is the only essential.

So, please do not feel like you cannot start a meditation practice if you don't have a shopping list of "essentials" you've seen online.

Emergency Comms

Hey all. I lasted a while on my job being all I needed (and it being the all consuming force of my life for a while), but right now we have literally only $30 left to afford food, gas, and other things like diapers for two weeks for my entire household. I got paid today and *almost all* the money had to go away to bills and other mandatory expenses. The same applies to my roommate who also got paid today, but he's got literally nothing left.

Comms are open as always, and I'm pushing them as an emergency thing. Any support in any way will help a lot. We have some food that *may* last for two weeks and plan on going to any pantries we can until the next paycheck comes, but we need gas so I can get to work and back, as well as the other things.

ai feeds off the art and passion we create. ai harms our brains and severely damages the planet that homes us. that homes you. your "devotion", your "craft", is not worth the sheer unyielding consequences of your actions. you are adding to every problem ai creates by using it freely and nothing "magical" you make from ai is worth the damage.

Witchcraft doesn't need to cost you a ton of money. Or any money really.

Dirt? Free

Rocks? Free

Salt? Most likely in your cupboard

Water? Free

Sticks? Free

Witchcraft uses what you have access to. Rain water, the dirt outside, a cool stick and rock you find outside. You probably even have a couple herbs in your cabinet or growing around you.

Your morning drink can be witchcraft. A walk outside can be witchcraft. Even a piece of paper can be witchcraft!
