One detail from the book that didn't make it into the movie that I think is neat is that Eva Stratt did not just stumble across Ryland Grace. He was not the 'potentially disposable' option. She went to the top microbiologists in some of the best research labs in the world and was told multiple times "you know what? I think Dr. Grace might be your guy." It's not even a killing related trauma thing. She just thinks they're neat.

I joke but on some level I do think Bruce really struggles to understand having a thorny and difficult relationship with a parent because he never got to that point with his own parents. any friction or problems in his upbringing have been so overshadowed by his polishing his grief into a shrine and it's been decades anyway. (he certainly has been in difficult parent-child relationships but uh. not on the kid end.) there are many reasons he is regularly turning down Talia's offers to throw over her father and run away with him but I think part of him instinctively cringes at the idea of cutting off a father who says he loves you no matter how much he plots to kill millions of people!

and Talia, on the other hand, has spent so so long trying to figure out a way to have her father allow her independence and trust without losing him altogether and is becoming increasingly convinced it isn't possible. and the killer thing is she did used to get to operate independently! he did used to trust her! and then she made choices he didn't agree with and he started treating her like a disobedient child to be brought in line and not an adult with her own beliefs.

Shout out to the ace icon Connor Hawke!! And shout out to all my fellow aces!! It's not nearly enough representation, but it is wonderful to remember that we do have a canon asexual character in DC.

Asexuality is so often forgotten about even in queer conversations and during pride month, so i encourage others to talk about asexuality more in fandoms, whether its headcanons or canon ace characters, and support ace creators and ace media!

"Dedication to the Mission" is a tricky thing to measure, she's probably the most dedicated to never killing someone, but most of the various Bats manage to not kill people without her level of dedication to not doing so. But even if she was, that wouldn't make her his favorite. "Cassandra Cain is Batman's favorite because her borderline mind-reading powers means he doesn't need to talk to her" Correct. This man would communicate entierly via grunts and silent stares if he could. Half of his "Other heroes stay out of gotham" Schtick is just to minimize the degree to which he needs to spend time talking to said other heroes. A sidekick who can understand what he means with a minimal number of actual human words exchanged is the dream.
