Do animals cuddle in the wild ?
(Totally not me wanting an excuse to see cute animals photos)
pretty much all animals with social or semi-social lifestyles cuddle at least occasionally in the wild for everything from protection to enhancing bonds and relieving stress! this includes everything from birds and mammals to some really unexpected animals like sharks.
touch is just a near-universal love language.
SHARK CUDDLES?!?!
SHARK CUDDLES!!!
no. they hate each other with the burning fury of a thousand suns
Some cephalopods want to touch so little that instead of mating like most animals the male will rip off his mating arm and sort of toss it at the female before quickly fucking off

Always one of my faves 🌊
"It's just a TV show" maybe to you. I absorbed it into my soul though.
This is Money Snake. She only appears every 312 years.
If you reblog her picture within the next twenty-five seconds you will have good luck and fortune for the rest of your life.

I was meant to be a character in a low budget horror movie in 2005 wearing a short sleeved shirt over a long sleeved shirt to signify to the audience that I am an enjoyer of music
Hot soup... and..... butter on bread
not to be a nerd but it’s so crazy how he (Bernini) really did that from cold hard stone……. truly a spectacle, truly breathtaking, an honor to behold
I think you should know he was 23 when he finished this and the ass gets a lot of attention but the hand on Persepina’s side/tummy is also exquisite
before i saw the caption I knew that HAD to be bernini.
I try not to make sweeping statements but I think there’s a case to be made for bernini as the greater sculptor there’s ever been.
here’s his bust of costanza bonarelli
here’s apollo and daphne from the front, where she’s mostly human
from the back, where she’s mostly tree
and details
this is the one art form I genuinely just cannot get my brain to accept as real. I’ve watched sped-up videos of it being done, read about it, seen in-progress marble statues and I still just can’t get it to sink in or stick. My mind doesn’t want to believe that any person has ever been able to start with a big block and break little bits off of it until it looks like a finely detailed person. At some point it has no recognizable shape and they still know where and how deep they should take a chip out of it that’ll still be the right decision 50,000 fucking chips later?!?
The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa has a hidden skylight for gold rays of actual light to shine down on their expressions and clothes and clouds.
"Everything the light touches belong to us"
It's been on for 700 years
We need reminding.
For historical context: Christmas used to be the festivity where everyone got drunk out of their skulls. Even people who didn't drink otherwise for whatever reason would get drunk on Christmas, and people would be drinking more heavily than otherwise. So, yeah. Absolutely people needed reminding.
this tweet genre is so fucking funny i need more of them

Big shout out to the coalition of Catholic nuns who just told the US bishops to stop being transphobic.
“As members of the body of Christ, we cannot be whole without the full inclusion of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals,” the letter reads. It goes on to argue that “we will remain oppressors until we — as vowed Catholic religious — acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people in our own congregations. We seek to cultivate a faith community where all, especially our transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive siblings, experience a deep belonging.”
The letter also states transgender people are “experiencing harm and erasure” in various ways, listing daily discrimination, a groundswell of state-level legislation aimed at LGBTQ rights and “harmful rhetoric from some Christian institutions and their leaders, including the Catholic Church.”
