Haha Ok, prepare yourselves, these are MANY characters, and LOTS of info! But i would reccomend reading it to get insight in the thoughts behind everything UuU
Tanaka- Have powers to control static electrics. It’s with other words not extremely strong forces he controls, but he as the flashy person he likes to be, he has concentrated on using it to cause small fires and explosions in the air (the electricity sets fire to dust or things in the air). More than once has the team been forced to have time out to put out small fires in the net or in someones clothes. (Kiyoko is mostly in charge of that, and there are some suspicions that it’s not solely ”accidents”)
Noya- Has wind powers, and can cause sudden gusts of wind to blow up, or creating small hurricanes. Nothing big enough to be dangerous (he could probably lift a small human with the force of the wind, but just for a short moment and they’d have to be pretty light) (like himself)(this explains his crazy jumping when he’s happy), but it’s flashy and he’s quite powerful and skillful.
Both Noya and Tanaka have a tendency to flash their underwear when they run around in their skirts, they don’t care one bit themselves and the team gets used to it. Not the first years though, they were a bit shaken the first week. Tanaka’s sister insists on choosing his wardrobe.
Asahi- Has a power that allows him to adjust the direction of an applied force. By doing so he can, for example, hit the ground and decide how the force should hit. By that he can clear a path or make sure all the force is in the same direction, and minimize the loss of force that always occurs (because it’s VERY hard/impossible to make a perfect hit on something). It makes his spike strong, but in his everyday life he keeps it to peaceful things, like helping building things. He and his bison familiar often have long talks about feelings and things, while Asahi grooms the fur.
One time he told Noya he would like to look a little ”wild”, and ever since Noya has taken it his mission to shop for Asahi. This leads to short short dresses in bright colors and shiny materials. Unfortunately Asahi isn’t THAT wild, and covers it all up with big sweaters. Noya is greatly disappointed. All his hard work. All his fashion sense. For nothing.
Suga- Has the power of manipulating the direction of light. You could say it’s a reflection power. However, it’s not very accurate, but he is creative with it, and use it to help his teammates by lighting up the court for them, or confuses their opponents for a short moment by screwing with the angle of the light (for a second it’s like they see things in water, so it’s hard to decide distances). He always carries a light source, a lamp or candle.
Daichi- has a balance power. It works best on himself, and he can keep himself stable for a long time, but so far he can only affect other’s balance for a second or two. he use it on himself most of the time, and on others when he gives his speeches to give them a stable feeling and a good start, and when the team gets too rowdy. He just lets them fall over a couple of times and they calm down.
Kageyama- ”takes” light for others. He makes them practically blind, and let the light that should have hit their eyes hit his instead, seeing things from their perspective. SUPER powerful!! A little bit too powerful. While he is great at using it, he got bad control over it and makes it completely dark for EVERYONE around him when just taking one persons light. He tried to make his former teammates jump anyway, saying he would just place the ball in their hands anyway. Understandably that wasn’t a very popular tactic.
Hinata- has the power of creating light (he literally shines, and it starts in his eyes). He never had any idea of how to use it AT ALL.
In the beginning, Hinata was the only one to dare jump when Kageyama used his powers. People thought it was simply a combination of Hinata being very very fast, and his will to spike. Hinata always closed his eyes, and everyone was pretty impressed with the level of trust. They soon realise that it’s a good combination to let Hinata use his light to catch their opponents attention, and let Kageyama use his power to not steal the light, but just making everything a little shady. Creating a shining decoy.
THEN!!!!! After their first tournament (after they lost) Hinata kind of just casually mentions that he can see perfectly fine even when Kageyama uses his powers!! and everyone is like ?????? WHY ARE YOU CLOSING YOUR EYES THEN??? And he is mostly like well, it doesn’t really matter if I see or not, right?? But in time he realise it DOES matter and decide to learn better control over his spikes and use that he can see when everyone else has to look through shadow.
Also he admires Tanaka and Noya’s short skirts, but gets WAY too flustered to wear one himself, so they solved by buying him a short but very frilly skirt that covers up even when he jumps around. Suga coordinated Kageyamas clothes to make him look a little kinder. It didn’t really work.
Enoshita- he isn’t as good with his powers because he hasn’t practiced as much with them, but he can change the air resistance. Making the air thick enough for things to fall slightly slower, or slightly faster. It’s not a flashy power at all, barely noticable so far, but in fact it takes A LOT to just change the air just a little, and he has come really far for someone with his practice! He just can’t realise it himself. It’s a power with a lot of potential, if he can build it up!
Tsukki- can make a sort of electric field, a shield around him. He or, that is what it can be in the future. At the moment, it’s very weak, and only enough to cause people trying to pass it a terrible migraine. He used it to protect Yamaguchi from the bullies when they were kids, and uses it to just mess with people sometimes. After their first tournament, and some encouragement, he decided to try to develop it more, and he can now create a tiny tiny weak field, size of a hand, that can’t stop a ball but cause some resistance.
Yamaguchi- His power is WAY more useful than he realise! He can for a short moment break a train of thoughts in others. When people are stuck in their own thought, he can just send a sort of alarm, that in most cases will help them leave a bad spiral. In time, he could be able to send short messages, like a word or two telepathically, but that is WAY in the future.
Kuroo- You could say it’s kind of a electricity power, as he can speed up the nerv signals in his body for a couple of minutes at a time! It makes his reflexes super fast, and he can react to things faster than a normal person could!
Kenma- has a power that isn’t noticable at all, and some even doubt he’s a witch, even though he’s the one to look like one. Complete with cat familiar and all. His power is that he can register small movements. It’s not that his vision is clearer or sharper, but he notices the tiniest motion as long as it is in his field of vision. He never knew how to use it, and thought it was mostly annoying, but Kuroo saw the potential and they developed a use for it. In combination with some knowledge in psychology, it’s a useful power. But it takes an entire science to use (obviously, human behaviour is complicated) so it’s far from perfected. It combines well, with Kuroo’s fast reaction, as Kenma can make sign when he sees a movement in some direction, and Kuroo can react immediately!
Bokuto- When a human eats, they store energy first one form that allows us to use it soon and fast, but if we don’t use it, it will be fat and not as easy for the body to use. It will be more of a ”in case of emergency” energy. Bokuto can with his magic keep the energy fast and easily usable, storing it like a human battery. He can basically give himself a sugar rush anytime ( and make his body able to handle it). But he has to keep track of it, or ALL his energy will be used up, making him very tired and down. He’s terrible at it and his teammates constantly has to keep track at it for him. He loves cute and frilly dresses.
Iwazumi- His power is similar to Asahi’s, but works backwards. Asahi manipulates the forces, but still has to calculate how himself to reach a result. Iwazumi can set out a goal, like a certain spot or area and the forces he applies will automatically adjust themselves to give the given result. BUT. He can’t, like Asahi, choose any direction of the forces, only concentrate them in points. So he decide a given point, and direct all forces applied there. This is sometimes used on Oikawa’s head.
Oikawa- Has attention powers. He turn people’s attention to himself or someone else, a little like if someone called their name. It doesn’t as powerful for a longer time, but it can lie there under the surface, and make people pay him slightly more attention than others.
Iwazumi hits him when he tries to use them on girls.
Kiyoko- Can collect small amounts of water from her surrounding ( a little like waterbedning, just no actual bending) and move it a little in the air. Thus she is in charge of putting out eventual fires caused by a certain someone. But she is not at all interested in magic herself, and wears pants. So her magic isn’t very powerful, and she wouldn’t use it at all if it weren’t for Tanaka.
Yachi- Thought for a LONG time she didn’t have powers, despite her lion familiar. But as she joins the team as a manager, she slowly realise that she does in fact have magic. And is particularly good with sound magic! Because she hasn’t even been aware of her powers, they aren’t very developed, but she is learning in an almost frightening speed. (as the lioness indicates, this is POWERFUL magic in it’s final stage)
Ukai- his grandfather was involved in the creation of magic sports, when the witch community first started to get accepted into the regular world, and the old ideas of an old hag with a cauldron in the deep forest started to change. Ukai was one of the first witches to play a version of a sport where magic was allowed (to a certain degree of course). He himself was never involved in the politics or even very interested in the witch culture. He liked to play, and his power to literally see the center of mass of an object was working well in volleyball. But magic sports were still not big enough to have as a profession, and it is harder for a witch to play regular sports, especially when you’re young and lacks good control + have a passive power, so he worked in the shop instead. His power made it easier to staple things too! But he kept the skirt because it was comfortable and an old habit.
Takeda- Is no witch, but very invested in the witch culture, and wants to support it the best he can. He doesn’t have a whole lot of knowledge about it, but is prepared and willing to listen and learn. He wears a skirt because it’s super comfortable, he thinks it looks good and he is all for trying new/sharing traditions.
Aone- has mirror powers, and can mirror other’s movements exactly, as long as they stand in front of him. But as soon as they’re not completely parallel it gets harder and less reliable. His team dresses him in cute clothes to make him less intimidating.
