If you don’t believe being asexual has any negative affect on people I was told by a psychiatrist that none of my relationships count because we didn’t have sex, and I can’t say I’m gay since I don’t want to have sex with girls.

and I was taken off my antidepressants because they may be lowering the libido I never had in the first place (plus various other reasons, but still immediately, cold turkey, which should NEVER happen unless they’re switching you to something else)

Sorry to add to this but I wanted to say since I’ve had bad experiences with mental health professionals and biphobia, I usually get asked “but are you sure you are sexually attracted to both sexes, are you sure it’s not just an emotional attraction?!” Like my dude don’t you think I can tell the difference between wanting to date someone and wanting to be friends? Also, due to be gray ace 90% of the time I am not even attracted to anyone but like sure, make me feel guilty that I can’t “prove” my bisexuality.

Sorry too but to add on, being aro isn’t much different. I told my therapist and she was immediately concerned that my meds were repressing “all my emotions” and wanted to take me off them. My insurance ran out and I went off them bc of no money before that happened. She also suggested dating someone anyway to “fix” the “issue” and expressed concern that my emotions (romantic feelings) weren’t present because “I’m suspicious and untrusting of everyone and don’t want to try hard enough.”

Having your orientation medicalized and invalidated is bad enough, but its fucking dangerous to have your meds taken away because you’re not performing relationships the way some doctor thinks you’re required to.

When undocumented immigrants are detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), they are held in detention until they go to trial where the court will decide whether they can stay in the country. In some cases, the immigration judge will let them go while they await trial if they first pay a bail bond. Bail is set at a legal minimum of $1,500, but can be much higher. The bond is meant as a deposit to ensure the accused will report to their trial. If they attend all of their court appointments, they can get the money back. But many people have trouble coming up with the funds. The average bail bond issued by the San Francisco immigration courts in 2014 was $3,411 and the average cost of bond in immigration courts nationally is $6,500. Bond amounts could be as high as $80,500 on Central District of California immigration bonds, according to a 2015 study by USC law professor Emily Ryo. Donating to community bond funds can immediately “lead to freedom,” she said. Community bond funds are charities, like RAICES, that use funds to post bail and provide legal defense for detained people.This is one of the fastest ways to reunite immigrants with their family, said Pilar Weiss, project director at the National Bail Fund Network.

Cringy does not simply apply to things people don’t like, though. Sometimes it means feeling secondhand embarrassment for someone who appears to be lacking in self awareness.

For instance, I find a loud-mouthed director entering a franchise late in the game, completely ignoring canon, inventing a lead OC for himself to play, and taking over the promo junkets and DVD extras, to be super cringy. And if anyone thinks it’s “bullying” to point that out, they can suck a dick.

People overuse the word, yes. And they certainly use it to dismiss others. But are some things in fandom cringy? Absolutely.

On 9th July, a bill called the Anti-terrorism Bill will be passed in the Philippines, but don’t let the name of the bill fool you. The bill, as quoted, “is declared a policy of the State to protect life, liberty, and property from terrorism, to condemn terrorism as inimical and dangerous to the national security of the country and to the welfare of the people, and to make any terrorism a crime against the Filipino people, against humanity, and against the law of nations “. The bill is extremely alarming because:

1. It enables the government to secretly overhear your conversations or observe your activities, which is a breach of privacy

2. It enables warrantless arrest. You can literally be arrested anytime at all, even if you didn’t commit a crime.

3. It lets the government arrest anyone who is suspected of being a terrorist and thus silences the voices of the people who is unhappy with the government. It steals their freedom of speech.

Heck, it doesn’t even need President Duterte to sign it for it to lapse into the law.

It’s trans men and trans women, not transmen and transwomen—trans is an adjective that answers “what kind of men/women"—cis works the same way

Never call trans men FTMs or trans women MTFs without their permission

Trans is short for transgender, it’s not plural for anything—trans person and trans people are both correct

Never use “born in the wrong body” or “used to be a boy and became a girl” or “biologically/genetically male/female”—all are just fancy ways to misgender someone (self identification with these phrases is different)

Transgendered is wrong, so is “a transgender” and “transgenders”

Being trans is not a sexuality nor is it a “sexual disorder” or any kind of disorder at all—gender identity disorder is not a real thing, and being trans isn’t a medical condition

“Transsexual” is generally considered an offensive term and should never be used to describe someone without their permission

Don’t refer to a trans person’s gender as their gender identity, it’s just their gender

Similarly don’t refer to their pronouns as “preferred pronouns"—they’re not preferred, they’re mandatory

fully agree with all of these, but as far as i am aware the term “trans*” is used to specify that you are talking about trans men, trans women, AND non binary people. when i call myself a trans* lesbian, it means i am a non binary lesbian and the * separates me from transfeminine lesbians.
