I come to ask some questions, 'cause you're always asking me questions and I wanna return the favor!
What drew you to Dibella in the first place?
What's your current favorite memory or something like it related to Dibella?
What's an offering you've given that was taken especially well?
What's the Dibella you see like?
What's a lesson you've already learned from Dibella?
Oh!! Khajiit, thank you so much, I really appreciate it!! It's so good that we can go back and forth like this, thank you so much!!
Q: What drew you to Dibella in the first place?
A: Non-bigoted (it's complicated but I'll spare you the half-baked rant) concepts of beauty, love, and kindness have always been incredibly interesting to me, and Dibella was very approachable about the knowledge she held about them. She was open but interested in setting boundaries, she was kind and expected kindness but we didn't expect the world of each other. Learning that beauty was seen as inherent by a God of all people was really amazing, and that really solidified things.
That, and... a lot of people tell me I'm beautiful, I get a lot of compliments, and I definitely can understand why. I'm really grateful, too. But beauty is such a sanitized topic nowadays, and Dibella gives me an opportunity to understand and engage with it in a way that isn't suffocating. She also lets me be political about it lmao
Q: What's your current favorite memory or something like it related to Dibella?
A: DEFINITELY one of the first dreams I had about her. One of the nights we talked and was considering getting into TES PCP, I had a ton of religious dreams, namely of Dibella. I had three in a row, but the one I remember the most is the last one:
I was in a white water pool in a round stone tub, looking a lot like her shrine's shape. Dibella was leaning over me, and I remember so vividly her crowning me with a lily and daisy(?) flower crown, accepting me as her believer, and telling me that she wanted me to be Sybil. I woke up praying (not joking, I was mid-sentence) and professed myself as a devotee. I'm still so honoured by that dream.
Q: What's an offering you've given that was taken especially well?
A: Hmmm... all of my offerings have gone pretty well which I'm really grateful for - Dibella is very kind and understanding. But I think one that I would count here is building with birch wood in Minecraft for her; I associate birch forests with her, and this is something she's very endeared by from what she tells me. I plan on growing a bunch of birch trees near the house and shrine I'm making for her in-game!!
Q: What's the Dibella you see like?
A: Thank you so much for asking this question! Appearances, especially of the Divine, are really complex for me so I'm very happy to explain :]
To me, Dibella looks like a tall, thin, golden skinned and haired woman with a heart shaped face, square nose, thin brows, closed eyes, and brushed back hair... most of the time. I've seen her appear as a fat Black woman with golden makeup, a Venus-of-Willendorf looking woman, and a masculine, blonde, ball jointed doll.
The only real consistency is that she appears as a tall woman with a square nose. Her eyes are usually closed, and I can't quite look at them. Regardless of how she appears, her energy absolutely radiates from her; she has such a big signature, it's reassuring. I love her in every single one of her forms, known to me or not.
Q: What's a lesson you've already learned from Dibella?
A: To NEVER overexert myself. Beauty is inherent; it is not from whether I can walk, talk, dance, sing, run, jump, et cetera, and harming myself by acting "normal" is not a part of beauty. Beauty is inherent to every kind individual, no matter how society perceives your appearance or harmless behaviours.
Again, thank you so much for asking all of this!!
