It is! At least that’s what I’m calling it.

I figure Ryl would be a pretty common language on Tatooine, especially in the slave quarters, since there are so many Twi’lek slaves.

So canon Anakin speaks Amatakka, Huttese, Ryl, Basic, and Binary. (Though that last isn’t something most people in the Republic would think of as a language.) He also picks up some Mando’a during the war.

(Anabasis Anakin, who was raised by Palpatine, speaks all of those plus Nubié (the language of Naboo), Neimoidian, Alda (the language of Alderaan) and Rodian. Palpatine realized pretty early that his apprentice had an aptitude for language and that this could be a useful weapon for him.)

Anakin being multilingual at a young age is extremely canon but Does this mean Anakin sometimes forget which language he’s speaking? Like he says something in Ryl instead of Huttese by accident, or he starts writing something in Basic and ends in Binary because there are so many languages he’s fluent in that sometimes the wires get crossed

Almost certainly yes. With one exception. I think he’d be very careful about slipping up and speaking Amatakka, since the secrecy of that language is very important.

Also I imagine this may have given him some trouble in his early days with the Jedi: if he was assigned a report and ended up writing it partly in Basic, partly in Huttese.

(On the flip side, he definitely slipped curse words in Binary into mission reports more than once, because there are pretty much no other Jedi who bother to learn Binary. Jedi don’t, as a rule, have much respect for droids.)

This is absolutely true. They are the biggest potty mouths. Threepio is perpetually horrified.

Anakin thinks that it’s totally safe to talk to Artoo about anything in any company because no other biologicals bother with learning droid language. Until the day that Padme casually tells him that he really shouldn’t talk about Senator Aak that way, even if the guy is a coolant-spewing, out-dated overseer.

Padme’s com console beeps but then it’s just a string of numbers and Dorme scowls at it and mutters, “Sorry, Senator, the com’s glitching again.”

“Oh, is it?” Padme says distantly, like she’s only half paying attention. “I’ll take a look at it.”

(Also she keeps getting bouquets that are really messages in Naboo flower language. The handmaidens understand those, of course, but they’re very discreet.)

Keeper -- a short comic about an angel meeting a robotic lighthouse keeper that doesn't know the world has already ended. Made in about 18 hours for a 24-hour 24-page* black and white comic challenge (that I arrived late to, ha.)

*the actual submission does not include the cover, which was created after the fact for this post.

This was a really great learning experience as someone who's... never really made a completed comic. I ended up really attached to the story by the end of the project (possibly due to all-nighter deliriousness lol) and ultimately am very proud of what I made.There are some things I'd still like to change, particularly text placement, but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge I've elected to leave it as is.

so essentially there’s this cool horse drawn into the hills in england made out of chalk and it’s like 3,000 years old.

people carved trenches 3,000 years ago and filled them with chalk in the shape of a horse but what’s interesting is that if you fail to maintain the horse by adding new chalk regularly, it will disappear. for 3,000 years, we’ve been filling in chalk in this horse so it doesn’t disappear.

we’ll never know what the purpose of the horse was originally. we’ll never know if it had ritual or spiritual significance or if it was just art. but we do know that people maintained it then, and, even though the meaning of the horse has long been lost to time, we continue to maintain it now.

the people who made this horse are long dead, but they live through us still, don’t you think?

For all my fellow Aussies remember, voting yes in the referendum quite literally means that Indigenous Australians will get a proper spot in parliament. If someone tells you to vote no they are racist, there is no reason why Indigenous Australians shouldn’t be allowed in parliament.
