Being a hunter was not easy. ever. in any regard. either you’re in some horrible, life altering or terrifying situation, or the doofuses that you’re stuck with are having an unspoken competition to see who can be the most stubborn and stupid. although, some days, it’s really not that bad. sometimes it might even be nice. today, however, is not one of those days.
It all started after a particularly grisly case. you would assume it would’ve been easy. just a vamp nest, nothing special, right?
wrong. it went so far south that everyone was exhausted to the point of limping back to the car, mumbling to themselves about aching limbs and wanting to sleep. Dean took the drivers seat, sam took the passenger seat, and you sat in the back, forehead against the window groaning half in pain, half from tiredness, and with a sprinkle of relief that it was over.
“alright. let’s get the hell out of here,” dean spoke to himself as the car moved to flee the scene. It was getting dark quickly, and all there was to witness outside of the fogged up impala windows was a forest of trees and a never ending empty road. you massaged your temples, trying to calm a headache caused by a brutal punch during the fight while dean silently cranks up the radio and sam complains to himself about his injuries.
after a long and tiring ride you find yourself sat on the bunker couch, sitting beside sam on one side who is fully immersed in whatever he’s reading on his computer while castiel stares intensely at you on the other completely unblinking and ranting about a stray cat that he saw a few weeks ago. you silently nod, somewhat listening and somewhat daydreaming. dean is on the recliner pulling at a string on the sleeve of his shirt.
the air conditioner hums as you watch castiel’s lips move. other than his cat story and the sounds of the bunker, for once, for a second in time, there’s quiet. you feel a sliver of peace.
“oh for crying out loud. someone push his off button.” crowley groans.
everyone’s heads snap up at the sound of his voice.
the peace you thought you had found has slipped out of your grasp once again like sand through fingers. what’s it gonna be now?
“crowley?! how the hell did you get in here?” dean asks harshly.
“a magician never reveals his secrets.” crowley grins smugly as he strides over and sits on the arm of the couch, much to castiel’s disdain. “so, what is everyone up to?”
“the better question is why are you here and not ruling over hell?” castiel says sternly, narrowing his eyes with disgust.
“everyone is so inquisitive today. i love it.” crowley smiles wider and continues, completely dismissing the question like usual. no one else is amused. “i have an idea. a day out,” he looks over at dean, “like old times sake. but all of us this time.”
“and why would we want to do that?” sam asks, his gaze finally lifted from his laptop.
“because you’ve been stuck in this little box for weeks, fighting and healing, fighting and healing.. should i go on?” crowley raises a brow.
“and so you just decided to do this out of the kindness of your heart?” dean counters, skepticism lacing every word.
“pfft. like i have kindness in my heart. anyway, that’s not important, curious george. what is important, however, is that you agree. i promise it’s not a trap. you know i always keep my promises. it’s one of the only things i have a sense of morality about.”
a swift and unanimous “no.” followed.
despite everyone’s better judgement, crowley managed to get what he wanted. he was the king of hell for a reason after all. the demon was great at bargaining.
after what felt like ages of bickering, all of team free will, now including crowley, are back in the impala, heading to the nearest movie theater. the tension is so thick you could cut it with your pocket knife and spread it on some toast.
“crowley. there is limited space back here. close your legs.” castiel huffs, trying to adjust himself. the poor angel is pressed up against the door while crowley is stretching comfortably in the middle.
“BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP! I WILL TURN THIS CAR AROUND!” dean slams his hand on the steering wheel.
“dean, calm down,” sam whispers.
“SAMMY, DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO. I CANT LISTEN TO THEM ANYMORE. CROWLEY, SIT RIGHT. CAS, SUCK IT UP, OR SO HELP ME THERE WILL BE NO MOVIE. UNDERSTOOD?”
“yes, dean, my apologies.” castiel sighs, lowering his head.
“he started it.” crowley mumbles, facing the opposite direction and pouting.
“i’m sorry dean.” crowley rolls his eyes sarcastically.
you try not to laugh at the scene unfolding in front you. sam shakes his head and goes back to staring out the window.
crowley turns back and glares at castiel, both silently challenging the other to make a move that they’re both too cowardly to actually do.
You couldn’t get out of the car fast enough. like most, it was a long ride, except this time it was cramped. you stretched a bit as the rest of your friends (and crowley) got out and stretched as well.
you all made your way through the doors, and inside the theatre.
Immediately, dean rushed over to the snack counter. “I’ll have some sour straws. what about you, sammy?”
“i’ll get some raisinets.”
“raisinets?? are you serious? sam, are you eighty years old?” dean flashes a judgemental look.
“i’ll have a pickle.” crowley announces.
the employee glances between crowley and dean.“seperate or together?” at the same time they both contradict each other. crowley says together and dean says seperate.
“crowley. i am not paying for you.”
“dean. i have saved your life countless times and even suggested this fun family bonding experience and you cant even buy me a two dollar movie theater pickle?”
“oh for gods sake. fine.”
“cas, do you want anything?”
“no thank you. i have no reason to eat.”
you order some popcorn and then off to the movie you all go. this should be fun.
if anyone has any suggestions, i’d love to make a part two. unfortunately my creative brain juice is running a little dry right now.
lmk if i should make a taglist!! love u guys!!
