YES, OKAY, ONE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL THINGS ABOUT OBI-WAN KENOBI IS THAT HE NEVER LOST FAITH. He grieved, he was sad, it was the kind of loss that most of us couldn’t bear, but Obi-Wan Kenobi never gave up.
“And yet he never faltered. As the rest of the galaxy burned, his path remained true. It is the kind of victory that most people never recognize and yet the bedrock all goodness is built upon.”
Obi-Wan lost nearly everything–his loved ones, his home, his people, his culture, his place, his galaxy, all of it was burned to the ground through death and loss and betrayal–and yet he never wavered in his path. The kind of strength of character that took, to not fall into darkness or bitterness, to be gentle to Maul when he came to Tatooine after so many years of anger and death and chasing after Obi-Wan, to still have a genuine smile to offer to Ezra, to leave toys for Luke, to still jump into the fray when he could help fight off Jabba’s men, to still love Luke, to give up his life to let Luke and Leia escape the Death Star and continue on, to do so with a smile to know it was worth it to see those children live, to offer forgiveness and love to Anakin when he turned away from the dark.
Obi-Wan Kenobi never lost faith for even a second and I love him so much, too.
