Billy Dent Profiling
So first things first: I am no Profiler. Nor Detective, Criminologist, Psychologist, or anything of the sorts. I just have accumulated a lot of knowledge over the years. But i would like to look at Billy Dents career for a minute here.
So yeah, Billy is the type of killer that is a sexual sadist and violent urged. This isn’t new to the serial killer profile. We see this in Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Richard Ramirez, most the biggies. But Billy also has a god complex and made his killing a career. This still coincides with some serial killers we know.
The point i want to introduce, is that Billy was mainly known by his mutilating and positioning of his victims. (Mutilating is nothing new to us, we’ve seen this since the dawn ages of Jack the Ripper.) So the main distinguishing characteristic of Billy Dent is his posing.
Most killers don’t position bodies for the pure reason that the more you touch and spend time with the victims, the higher chance you have of getting caught. Although we have seen killers “display their victims” like Boston Strangler who would display his victims with the weapon they were killed with, Billy went the extra to pose the actual body. Dent went to the extent of dislocating joints and using fishing line and costumes to further play with cops and degrade human life. This is his god complex showing.
The question is: Why? Well like i said before, it was to play with cops and show that he was above them. But this must contribute to Billy’s signature. (Signature: the psychological need that is satisfied when people kill ((super general def.))) So Billy changed his MO of killing multiple times (how he killed) but he always killed for the same reason as all killers usually do. This is similar to Jeffery Dahmer’s case, his MO changed but his signature didn’t. But i still don’t understand the posing of it all besides to show people who is the boss, create a legacy, and further inflict pain on families after the killing.
So we still don’t really know why Billy posed his victims. It is a mystery of the psyche. It’s all just interesting to me idk.
In other words, Barry Lyga did a magnificent job of creating a character that is complicated and horrific yet tangible and realistic.

SPOILERS: BOMB ending
I was thinking about IHK while driving the other day (because what else do you do when you drive) and I was thinking that at the end of bomb when Jazz is suffocating Jan, he was laying on his back with her on top of him, and literally minutes before he had just had his ribs broken from her shooting his chest. Not to mention that he was also stabbed multiple times in the side before hand. Like...just imagine the kind of pain he was in while doing this. I'm sure there was adrenaline and endorphins running through his veins, but still. I act like ill never walk again when I stub my toe. @barrylyga @welcometothenod @dentedlives

Could I please have your best description of Howie's physical appearance? I have read that he is really tall and has brown hair and eyes, but I want to attempt to draw him, but I need a little more info, please? Thank you!
Hello, narrow-shades-of-love.
Of course I can give you my best description of Howie! That would be my pleasure. But, keep in mind, that I’m going off what I know from the whole series collectively, and what I know based on what I found out from Barry himself. (As it is, the whole idea of knowing that he has brown hair was something I only figured out by emailing him directly), so the description I’m giving isn’t one you’ll find in the books necessarily. That being said, let’s get to it.

Howie Gersten is your basic, run-of-the-mill average looking teenager who just happens to be extraordinarily tall. He has limbs that look almost disjointed, like they don’t work with his body because they are so naturally long. So much so that it’s hard for Howie to find clothes because of his size, and most of what he wears just doesn’t fit him properly. Most of the time, he sticks to T-shirts (presumably with logos - that Howie, he probably dons all kinds of band/tv show shirts) and jeans that always look to be a bit too short.
He’s also quite pale. Mentioned to “look like a skeleton” sometimes, Howie’s skin is almost ivory in color, and almost completely white and without much color. When he blushes, it’s known because the sharp contrast of the red is made known. If you were to stand him next to, say, Jasper, Howie would appear to be not only really tall and gangly with wiry limbs, but really tall, gangly, and pale.
He has brown eyes, and brown hair. It’s imagined that his hair would be sort of soft, and fluffy and his eyes would be like those a puppy dog. He’s got not real defining face, as in he’s not eye-candy but he’s probably on the easy side to look at. Keep in mind, that of the two, Jasper is described as “more handsome”.
One critical part of Howie, should you draw him, is getting his character right. Howie moves fluidly, and awkwardly because he to avoid getting pushed into because of his condition, and he also is towering over others that he always watches where he walks. He’s loose, and probably has a “swagger” walk.
Due to his condition, it wouldn’t be too off the mark to draw him with a bruise.

That help me a lot! Thank you, and I will be sure to let you know when it finished! When you mention puppy eyes, though, it makes me want to draw cartoon eyes, so, that will be how I draw the eyes, he will be quite tall, but, what kind of logos do you think that he would wear?
That’s up in the air, but I see him with fandom shirts or shirts with puns. Draw him with the COME AT ME BRO or COOL STORY BRO, TELL IT AGAIN shirt. I feel like he’d wear stuff like that. Anything that reflects his choice in tattoos.
