LITTTLE Women is finally frigging out! okay I didn’t mean to tease or alarm you if you were one of the ones waiting for it, but it’s finally screening for reviews and SAG membership and as Ive always said that shit doesn’t matter to me. What matters to me is that people emotionally connect with it and in doing what I never do and reading reviews early, they do! They really really do! And it’s so beautiful that they do I could cry. Cause as an actor you know you make something and you don’t know how it’s going to go for months and months people fill that time with their own speculations ad expectations and you can’t let them get to your head no matter how loud they are because it will be received how it will be.

But it gives me great happiness, we did some kind of justice to this story, this story where women of all temperaments, drives, and just general being are given representation. That promotes self acceptance, love, and sisterly bonding. And that makes me happy cause some little Saoirse who likes playing rugby with the boys and has a very vivid story telling imagination is going to find out she has a very real place to belong just as she is.

on the personal side so much of me is in this movie more than anything before, to the 4am shoot and me being untamed wild as her, to me being a rebellious little shit at the etiquette lessons Greta scheduled for us, cause of course Jo would be. And it all started with me outright demanding this role, this is the first time Ive ever done that in my career. Gone to a producer and said ‘No one can play this role better than me, cast me’ Fucking limb for someone like me to go out on. Im just not a very self promoting person. Ive never promoted myself for awards or campaigned for my career it’s just not who I am. I know my abilities but I always thought it was arrogant to assert it to someone else. But in that moment I told Greta I wanted to play Jo I never had a more clear image of my capabilities, never more assure in my own confidence. Sometimes there are just those things worth being wholly assertive for. Don’t you agree? 

And my career is at the top always. 

. Anyway this is a lot of me joyously rambling. I see now why my loving husband whisked me away to Austria before the madness of all the Little Women press about to go down. He’s wonderfully thoughtful like that and an inspiration. But if you get to see the movie here soon I really hope it speaks to you in some way. Makes you feel empowered or makes you feel like ‘hey thats a bit of me up there’. That would make me most proud.

I, for one, cannot fucking wait to watch this movie, and then watch it again, and again, and then to watch it every year on a certain date and make it become an annual tradition. And I might have a kid or two specifically so that I can one day show them this movie and force them to watch it year after year with me until they, too, love it just as much as I always have. And then they will have children and, I mean, you see the pattern here. My personal mission in life is to ensure that this film gains the landmark status that it deserves. It’s what you and Greta and all the other fabulous women deserve.

To be fair, we’ve been having some 3-4 am call times here lately, and then working until dinner time so by the time I get home, I’m wiped. Screw feeling 23 when your ass has to be at work at 3am. Normal 23 year olds aren’t up til noon so you’re playing a whole different game than those other lazy asses, honey boy. Teleportation would be hella convenient, I tell ya. I’d be all over the dang world every chance I got. And also to work, I guess, but that’s boring. I still die over night shoots and early calls so I’ve got no tip for you other than don’t do what I do.
