✏️Lexi’s 2026 Classroom Wishlist✏️

As many of you know by now, I am a math teacher at a poorly funded Title 1 school that specializes in teaching students with autism and ADHD.

I return to work for the new school year in 2 weeks, which means it’s time for me to shamelessly beg for help supplying my classroom! Our students are from a very low income area, so they don’t bring any supplies from home or pay any school fees.

To be clear, I never want anyone to feel obligated to contribute! I put a lot of my personal finances back into my job (which pays abysmally) and I know most of us don’t have “spare cash,” but I’m not at my job to make a fortune. I’m there to teach a demographic whose struggles I understand firsthand.

It’s embarrassing to beg my internet friends for help stocking my classroom every year, but there’s nothing I wouldn’t do on behalf of my students who just need a fighting chance and someone to believe in them.

(Side note: it was really funny to tell my middle schoolers to “thank Ms. Lexi’s internet friends” for the powerful fan in our classroom when the building had no AC for two months and we were dying in the summer heat)

As always, I’m endlessly grateful for your support and the way it’s made my classroom a more welcoming and inclusive space for my kids to learn.

Join us for an event celebrating the rarest of pairings you can find in the Murderbot fandom!

This is a TMBD event to celebrate all those underappreciated romances, crackships you've been harbouring, and brand new, never been shipped before pairings (extra bragging rights if you create the first fanwork for a pairing on Ao3!)

To be included a ship must have less than 50 works on Ao3 or less than 5 authors writing for the ship!

And for those who don't have a specific idea in mind, don't worry! We have a Wheel of Names which you can use to generate some absurd and interesting fics, as well as a list of fourteen tropey romance prompts to be released on 2nd of August! These aren't a requirement for the event, just a little extra support for those who are interested!

We are welcoming all types of TMBD fanworks for this event, if you've got an underappreciated work you can post it!

What is Murderbot RarePair Rendezvous

Murderbot RarePair Rendezvous is, to put it simply, an event inspiring people to write rarepairs's for the Murderbot Diaries! Easy peasy!

The event starts with the release of the Trope List on August 2nd and works will be revealed from August 24th!, bringing together artists, graphic makers, and authors from The Murderbot Diaries Fandom and challenging them to create at least one rarepair fanwork for the month!

If you feel like pushing yourself, you can create a piece of work for every prompt - we have 14 exciting ones to choose from! - but if you know that's a bit too much work for you personally feel free to just submit one piece for your favourite rarepair

Where can I find the prompt list?

The prompt list will be published on the 2nd of August! You can find it here on the official Murderbot RarePair Rendezvous blog when the time comes!

How to submit works?

You can add any fanwork to the Murderbot Diaries RarePair Rendezvous Collection on Ao3 or to this tumblr!

Make sure to tag your work appropriately and with whichever rarepair you've created, and use the MurderbotRarePairRendezvous2026 on Ao3 and Tumblr!

This is an Open Event

 What does this mean? It means anyone is allowed to enter as long as their fill follows the rules of the event!

Acceptance for All

All rarepairs and any TMBD characters are accepted, as long as the pairing has less than 50 works or fewer than 5 creators it will be accepted into the collection!

Crossovers?

Crossovers are allowed, so long as they follow the previous established guidelines!

Please submit via the methods previously described and please don't reveal works until August! If you want to publish your work elsewhere (DeviantArt, Twitter, Pillowfort etc) please wait until after August 1st

I watched an insane amount of TikTok and other short form videos for the story I'm writing right now. I gotta say, afterwards, I found myself picking up my phone and opening the apps, almost unconsciously. I was walking and I thought about watching some vids at the same time. I was on hold to the ATO... maybe some videos.

I also happen to specialise in gambling addiction (although I'm not practicing in that area right now), and all I could fucking think about was how these fucking apps were conditioning me in the same fucking way gambling apps do. To be constantly plugged in, consuming. To not even think about just picking it up and having a look. To feel bored when I wasn't watching them, to think about watching them when I wasn't watching them....

That shit is fucking evil.

I deleted it. I'm not exposing myself to that.

That shit will fry your dopamine/reward system so fucking bad you will never read a book or watching a movie again without it.

Love yourself and your potential enough to put that fucking shit away. Watch longer form things that require focus and engagement. Listen to podcasts and audiobooks. Read books. DO ANYTHING BUT CONSUME SHORT FORM CONTENT IN AN UNSTRUCTURED WAY.

If you MUST consume it (I'm sure people will be like 'but my classmates' or 'but my own channel'.... etc), do it in a siloed and structured way. 30 minutes between x time and x time on x day. Focus on it. Don't eat and do it. Watch each short form video to completion. Engage critically with the content. ANd never watch them first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

PLEASE. From a gambling professional, short form videos ping your SAME circuitry and you will fuck up your life and your brain so badly if you don't put up guardrails for yourself.
