How can a stranger wander into your life one day and change everything you know and then just leave? Someone who’s built their way around your heart and made a home there. Crawled under the deepest cracks of your skin into the dark secrets you thought you’d never share. Someone who’s seen you in every possible light. When you’re angry, when your sad, when you’re irritated, when you’re happy, when you’re glad, when you’re hurt, to when you’re broken. Someone you’ve shared your daily thoughts with and the happenings of your everyday life. Someone who’s memorized you like the back of their hand. Someone who knows what you look like from when you fall asleep to when you wake up. Someone who has an image of you ingrained in their brain. From the tips of your toes, to the gaze in your eyes. Someone who’s hands became the natural puzzle piece to yours. Someone you’ve began to love with your whole heart.

And then it felt like it was tearing.. and ripping and being demolished inside you when they left. Physically the pain was as great as the pain you felt emotionally. And just like that you wondered how did this stranger affect you this way? How did they build a nest inside your heart and destroy it at the same time? The pain you knew before had never been anywhere near the complete desolation of your soul, body, and mind. From then you knew you could never be the same, your heart was fractured in a way that completely paralyzed your feelings. The word love became your least favorite and you never saw it the same way. Love. What is it, and why do we need it anyways?

one of my roommates used to work with 5th graders in a creative writing class thing and they had to write a romance and most of the kids wrote stories about princesses and crap but this one little girl wrote about how a marshmallow fell in love with a mug of cocoa and he loved the cocoa so much that in order to be with her he melted and died like wow kid that’s some shakespearian shit right there
