“are you KIDDING? baby, i’m TERRIFYING. i have long, sharp fangs.” eddie used the TABLE to prop himself up as he HISSED in her direction. “just like a-- CARRION CRAWLER!” if there was one thing he knew the other understood, it was a good dungeons and dragons reference. “although i relate much more to a gelationous cube.”

now that was enough to get pepper’s interest. her brow is raised and she thinks back to all of the things she’d heard. people didn’t talk much about it as a dead child is a taboo subject. “yeah uh… that’s what everyone thought.”

she shouldn’t ask she knows that but god she can’t help it. “so did your mom lie to him or something? i mean that’s kind of fucked up. he spent forever a sad alcoholic loser because he thought had a dad kid.

“yeah well he isn’t my hero that’s for sure he didn’t save anyone that mattered- not to me.” pepper mumbles before she shakes her head. it didn’t matter it was bullshit but it didn’t matter. “he’s in there with my -” no joyce wasn’t her mom it wasn’t her place to be jealous or angry that shew as moving on and even fi it was why would she care. “he’s in that store over there. why do you want to know anyways?”

the pause was loud, even if sara wouldn’t admit it. whoever else was in that store meant... something to the other. the question was, did sara care enough to pursue an answer? on one hand, if this guy was a dick, she wanted to know. wanted to be able to get out before it was too late...

...but what if she couldn’t un-learn this stuff before even MEETING HIM?

“...he’s my dad.” she admitted with a sigh. a streak of protectiveness roared through her body and she raised a hand. “and before you go implying anything... he thought i was dead.”

“--are you ashamed’a me, robin?” her voice was SOFT and FRAGILE, two words that dottie HATED being used to describe her. still, when in reference to her current mood, there were no better adjectives. because the truth was, robin was the FIRST person to make her feel that way since BUCK. and she was the ONLY one who really seemed to deserve it. even kali and the gang couldn’t get her feeling this way.

but their relationship was different.

because dottie and robin could only be FRIENDS, as far as anyone else was concerned, and that was a concept dottie hadn’t yet been able to grasp. because none of her friends cared about who you loved shacked up with, and society around them hadn’t concerned her until recently. so now she was dealing with a whole new world where she could LOVE her girl, but NOT hold her hand. not kiss her cheek. none’a that innocent-- and gay-- shit she wanted to do all the time and everywhere.

but she thought she could meet robin’s friends, right?

like... like STEVE? or NANCY?

but so far, nothing.

and sure, it made sense. dottie had wild, untamed hair and just as bad of an attitude. and sometimes she swiped stuff from the local stores-- but NEVER from the little mom and pops! she knew how important those were to hawkins, and therefore to robin! just the radio shack and shit. everyone went to radio shack...

but nonetheless, none of the reasons she agreed with in her head made the seeming REJECTION hurt any less.
