Other stuff: I have a guinea pig who I love to absolute pieces. (Don't worry, I'm working on finding him a buddy.) I have a bachelor's degree in zoology, but I work in IT for my day job, while helping with ornithological research on the side. I also do cosplay sometimes with the help of my amazing best friend.
Rules for engagement: I have had only positive experiences on here thus far, but harassment or bigotry (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, acephobia, etc.) will not be tolerated. I love to talk about shared interests, but I will be keeping my private life private.

Currently super excited over Taverntalk and Dreamwalker development, it is such a good game and I just mixed the worms with the older worms in my brain
decided to draw a good chunk of the npcs around angel falls and naturally ended up ocifying every single character there. full family trees and everything (see read more for notes). my somewhat lighthearted goal to draw every single character in game including the duplicate npcs is unlikely but never impossible
(these are my personal headcanons, some of which are extrapolated from context clues and others are pure imagination)
must be said that like all towns in game angel falls does NOT have enough houses/beds for all the characters there. i just pretend theres a few extra houses and rooms elsewhere.
there are 5-7ish distinct family clusters in angel falls, the mayor's family, erinn's family, hugo's family, the Horse Guy's family and then the Fat Lady's family which is connected to chanterelle's family and maybe also the merchant :) (not counting the priest and nun in town as I'm quite undecided on how i think they should fit in)
chanterelle and questelle are sisters! deeply autistic family. father who loves ruins with his beautiful spiderweb and mushroom loving daughters. their father is the brother of one of the fat men in the village, which is why chanterelle is using their kitchen - they're staying at relatives while their dad explores the hexagon :)
the two ladies that gossip by the well are mother and daughter in law! im considering having the dil be the merchants sister (or daughter), and im on the fence about whether the angel falls water guy or the one who stays in the house is the dil's husband, but we'll see
the old lady who loses her ring in the beginning of the game is hugo's grandmother. the blonde girl in the item shop + the little boy in the village are his older sister and little brother respectively. parents either deceased or travelling, maybe.
the merchant in town initially moved to angel falls through an old connection with erinn's father. though edwinn definitely tried his best to put his old life behind him, i think he just couldn't keep his business mind completely locked up and ended up contacting an old regular to set up shop in angel falls to allow for better trade in the village
the Horse Guy's sister helps take care of Hugo's grandmother (and the kids), though shes at most 3 years older than the eldest. I've decided that her name is bethica/beth, and when they were all younger hugo and ivor used to make fun of her for her red hair and compare her to she slimes (called slime beth in jp, hence the name) which led to her developing a complex of sorts. she ended up taking out her anger on some slimes, and because going out and fighting is pretty unusual in angel falls she ended up getting praised a bit Too much, so her insecurity swung right back round into a pver confidence and she applied for swinedimples. since the monsters around angel falls and swinedimples arent very strong at all, she got a massive wake up call and a pretty firm rejection, and shes been sort of awkwardly goalless ever since, so helping as a caretaker in hugos household is…relieving, in a way. she keeps trying to insist on being called betty rather than beth but basically no one actually listens to her.
i think hugo's granny should be called fáinne, maybe! irish name meaning ring. closest i can get to a pun/themed name for her beyond making up a new one, but being an irish name ties it geographically to the various british influences in game :)
Okay, real talk about Cherry Sk8 the Infinity... What the hell is an AI calligrapher??? Is it someone who does calligraphy and also happens to have an AI?
Aaaand she's done! I am so excited to show her off tomorrow. I ran out of time to bother with her cursed hand this year, but that will give me something to work on next year!

Hi, I work in the National Park Service. You're right that American recreational areas are threatened by this proposal, but the Parks are NOT among them. This pertains to lands administered by my colleagues in the U.S. Forest Service only, which is bad, but the National Forests are under the Department of Agriculture instead of Interior for a reason. They are there for resource management with optional recreation amenities provided as well. Sites like Redwood NP, Yosemite NP, Cedar Breaks NM, Big Cypress NPP, and the Everglades NP are forested areas that are part of the Parks and will still be protected.

^Something happened to separate LG and CXS as kids. The "long ago" always tripped me up re: CXS's death because that happened in the future, not the past, and anyhow, even if three years went by since LG's dive, I wouldn't consider that "long ago". But if it's referring to their childhood, I think this makes a lot more sense.

^Self-explanatory. Misery. But also I am intrigued by the "into the story as just an extra" - was LG meant to be assisting CXS with something? Has CXS always been a target for his powers even as a kid? CXS seems to be at the center of a lot of what's going on; maybe LG was never supposed to be such an important person in his life.

^Okay this makes me insane. The "little lamp": the heroine in Ran Xi Chronicles, the manga series in Yingdu ep 1, used a magic lamp to time travel. LG draws an explicit parallel between himself and her.

To have CXS forget LG, to isolate him from anyone besides the Photo Studio, to kill CXS and have LG hold the secret and burden of that future all on his own, unable to confide in or talk to anyone about it... doesn't it kind of seem like LG is being intentionally isolated? For what reason?
Can't wait to find out the meaning of the lyric, "Blanket, I need a blanket, not a synthetic one," and for it to become the most devastating part of the song.
