Nothing is more devastating than this. The UN World Food Program has officially suspended aid delivery to northern Gaza, citing violence and lack of safety as major reasons the aid trucks aren’t getting through. Israeli officers are liberally shooting at Palestinians who try to approach the trucks in hopes of getting even the smallest morsels of food, despite the fact that Israel has allowed only one crossing for the already woefully low numbers of aid they’re permitting entry. Reportedly this number has fallen from 140 a day in January to just 60 a day this month, and now 16% of all Gazan children under 2 are “acutely malnourished.” Meanwhile, the US vetoes a call for a ceasefire for the third fucking time. It’s so inhumane in its cruelty it’s actually shocking to see it being allowed to go on and on, and on an international level no less.

hey got some important news. the affordable connectivity program that helps poor and disabled people afford internet is going to run out of funding by april 2024 if we can't convince congress to renew it

One of the programs set up to ensure affordable internet for all is set to run out by the middle of 2024.

i know emailing and calling politicians often seems like a waste of time, but this is gonna hurt alot of people (myself included) if this program is allowed to disappear. we really need to raise some awareness and get this program the funding that it needs. ACP is a game changer for literally millions of people. this is the only way many homes can even get internet, and in this day and age internet access is pretty much a necessity for almost everything. its gonna be a huge blow to have this vital program taken away from those who depend on it.

btw if you are eligible for this program, a good way to help save it is to sign up for it! apparently only 40% of eligible households are actually enrolled in the program, if that percentage were larger it would be alot easier to secure funding for the program. alot of welfare programs rely on how much demand there is for the service, the more demand there is, the more funding there tends to be.

if you currently receive EBT, medicaid, and/or lifeline cell service, than you should qualify for ACP. you can choose between receiving a $30 discount on your home internet or a data plan for your mobile device. this program can also stack with your lifeline cell service.

I need everyone to understand that even as Palestinians, with everything that we grew up witnessing and learning about, some of what we've been seeing unfold in Gaza is still too horrific for us to bear or wrap our heads around

Take this story for example which is still developing from yesterday (Jan 29)

Layan (15) and her sister Hind (6) were trapped in a family car surrounded by the corpses of their family members who have been targeted by Israel

Layan manages to reach the Red Crescent, who have published a recording of her final words, as she sustains a gunshot wound.

The team tries to guide her through and promises her that they are coming to help. Layan was killed, leaving her sister alone surrounded by tanks and the bodies of her family members.

The Red Crescent team that was dispatched to rescue the girls has not been heard of since (about 20 hours ago) and no one knows the fate of 5 year old Hind.

I don't have words anymore.

No news or updates on Hind yet or the rescue team that went out to save her.
