I can't wait to see Safer Sephiroth in part 3. He's honestly the boss I've been waiting for since the remake trilogy started in 2020.
I really hope they give him his more updated design from Dissidia. I really enjoy how otherworldly he is. There is something both beautiful and low-key demonic about that design specifically.
But also the recent artwork reveal of him is interesting too. Sephiroth looks...tired. Not like some divine god, but an exhausted force of darkness at the end of his rope. It made me strangely sad.
Yesss I've been saying I'm really excited for the Safer Sephiroth reveal :o
And I'm sure it won't disappoint! With those insane graphics on the remakes I'm hoping to see something heavenly and stunning
Romancing Barret Week - Day 2: dark thoughts
While I very much like the idea of Barret being a healing influence on Sephiroth, I've also been thinking about how Sephiroth could in turn encourage him towards more violent means. Maybe the rest of the world doesn't deserve it, but Shinra does, right?
[Image Description: Digital artwork of Sephiroth and Barret standing side-by-side in the lobby of the Shinra building. Their backs are to the viewer, and they look upwards towards the second level. The twin staircases bound them on either side, and their bodies obscure the glass sign with Shinra's logo on it. Silhouetted in the foreground are the bodies of several Shinra employees, their blood streaked across the floor and the end of Sephiroth's sword. /end ID]
Barrett: I can fix him.
Sephiroth: I can make him worse.

I think Tifa Lockhart is a much more complex character than we make her out to be.
From her childhood in Nibelheim to what happened in Crisis Core, her role in the story itself is so much more than just who she is to Cloud. Yes, Cloud is a big factor, but she knows about Shinra's cover-ups and the Nibelheim incident more than any of the party members really do, and you can really tell how she struggles with having to hold her complicated feelings back for the sake of the others
I mostly agree, but who Tifa is to Cloud is a crucial part of the internal conflict, which could not be resolved without her simply existing as she does. I don't think the connection to Cloud diminishes anything else about her, I think it neatly puts everything in place and kicks everything off.
She is an "others first" sort of character which comes across in her more shy demeanour around Cloud too. She is probably always considering how to express herself and her needs, without compromising the feelings of others. She's had to put survival first since she was 15 and then others before her own complicated feelings.
It's especially made complicated because of Cloud's identity issues. Can you imagine how much It's messing around with Tifa's own trauma, to have this almost correct, but conflicting narrative thrown at her?
That's why resolution with Cloud is so crucial to their dynamic, as she is the only character who can drive that inner narrative forward. Yes it pins her to Cloud, so to speak, but it doesn't take away her individuality or anything.
It's just that because of Tifa's knowledge and simply being who she is, she is the only one who can anchor Cloud. Thus she drives the resolution of the internal conflict of FF7. But I also think by choosing to stay with Cloud, Tifa is allowed to finally choose her own feelings.
Yes I agree!
She is very crucial to both Cloud and the story. And both of them wouldn't be who they are without each other. A great example of two intertwined and still individually complex characters
I really like how they gave Sephiroth more greenish eyes in the remakes instead of OG or Dissidia's blue/cyan. They fit him so much more
A little something idkđ

Hm,I've been thinking about a potential cutscene aftermath of that 1v1 (shirtless) Sephiroth fight from the OG,but for Revelation. Like if Square wanted to add even more religious symbolism and leave us all emotional wrecks;what if Cloud holds him as he dies and gets to actually outwardly grieve over everything he lost and just the tragedy of all.đ
I do want that sort of scene, but I also fear the (predictable) outraged response from the gamerbros. There's no way they won't make their discontent known over the fact that the hero has complicated emotions about the villain and it isn't just black and white all out hatred like they want it to be.
Don't know why they bother sticking around if they hate it so much...
I think Sephiroth's death will probably be very poignant. I don't think Cloud is going to grieve him though. Sephiroth DID ruin Cloud's life. While I think Cloud will be melancholy about the final fight, he's probably not going to be sobbing over Sephiroth's body.
But I do definitely think Sephiroth's death will be a sad moment. The Remake trilogy has really cemented the fact that Sephiroth is a deeply tragic character. A final death for him is an end to suffering. So I think it's going to be an emotional moment.
...the dudebros WILL complain though. And the purists will probably claim that Sephiroth was never supposed to be this tragic (even though he always was). Those two things are an inevitability. Just brace yourselves.
I'm really hoping for a good, melancholic cutscene! And dudebros will always complain no matter what. The fandom is so divided, Square can't make us all happy. But they will attempt to. That's why I think they're not going to do anything overdramatic and polarizing
Can we talk about the potential of Aeriseph??????
Aerith had every right to become a villain, imagine the power these two would hold if they joined forces. Probably intergalactic. In this scenario, there would be no logical outcome in which the party could win tbh...
I love to entertain this idea, both in fics and art, they just complete each other in a way like no other two characters from the game could. They symbolize opposites, light and darkness, divinity and corruption, terrestrial and extraterrestrial. And yet they're quite similar in their upbringing and even design elements.
Too bad Square scrapped the idea!
Yeeeesss, yeseees spread the Aeriseph propaganda!!
Bring on more art and fics - Aeriseph week is coming up!
The hashtags are so real I'll take aeriseph in any shape of form

Also, the idea that "Sephiroth could be redeemed through Aerith" doesn't seem all that wrong to me, if, presumably, he found out they were siblings.
But on the contrary, they'd make a great evil power couple (and we forget the sibling concept)

Sephiroth grew up pretty isolated, which means there's got to be common sayings that confuse him. For example, I picture him hearing something like "curiosity killed the cat" and demanding a full explanation!
*While waiting outside the briefing room for Angeal. Genesis is reading a book while Sephiroth stands beside him with his arms crossed*
Sephiroth: What do you think theyâre talking about in there?
Genesis: Not a clue, though I wouldnât dwell on it too much. âCuriosity killed the cat,â and all.
*Sephiroth stares at him, mildly alarmed*
Sephiroth: Which cat? A cat was killed?
Genesis: Hm? Oh. No, darling, itâs an idiom. It means excessive curiosity tends to get one into trouble.
Sephiroth: What does the cat have to do with it?
Genesis: The cat is a metaphor, because cats are notoriously inquisitive creatures, and it gets them into trouble.
Sephiroth: Other animals are curious.
Genesis: Itâs just an expression, Sephiroth.
Sephiroth: I understand that part. What I donât understand is why the victim is specifically a cat. Why not another animal?
Genesis: I donât know. Most children grow up around cats, so they understand the comparison.
Sephiroth: I didnât grow up around cats.
Genesis: Minervaâs mercy, fine! Substitute it with a creature you did grow up around.
Sephiroth: You mean like Lifeform-61A-subspecies-33.
Genesis: ...
Sephiroth: ...
Genesis: âCuriosity killed the Lifeform-61A-subspecies-33â Does that sound natural to you? Honestly. Say it out loud. Let it roll off the tongue.
Sephiroth: I advise you not to be curious about how it sounds. According to your logic, it will kill you.
Genesis: You know what? Fine! If weâre going to be agonizingly literal, let us finish the thought. The full proverb is âCuriosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.â
Sephiroth: Necromancy!?
Genesis: UGHâ
i know this trend is kinda old and pretty sure that someone already drew it but i still wanted to do it so đ¤
I love how seemingly every artist has at some point drawn their favorite villain as Alexandre Cabanel's L'ange dĂŠchu.
Please keep doing that. I want to see every single one.
