Imagine finding out you have 90 minutes to tie up a love story that's developed over thousands of years. You create something beautifully in character and completely on point for the plot. You pay homage to the original writer's legacy in a fitting and poetic way and create an ending that not only shows the depth of two people's love for each other but the wider love they have for the thing that brought them together in the first place.
And then you go online to find the loudest outcry is that everyone hates it and "THEY DIDN'T EVEN KISS!"
I feel sorry for people who didn't get anything out of that stunning finale.
The silliest thing I find about this whole "they only got 30 years together in the end with no memories of their shared history so what was the point" is that EVERYONE THINKS THEY ONLY MET EACH OTHER IN THIS ONE SINGULAR LIFETIME REALITY instead of my immediate thought that as its architects, Aziraphale and Crowley were wound so deep into the fabric of the new universe that there is a version of them finding each other and falling in love every single generation for billions and billions of years??????
A Roman version and a French Revolution version and a WWII version and ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND---
For goodness sake the song that plays over this version of them finding and falling in love is "Time After Time"! THE IMPLICATION IS THAT THEY WILL ALWAYS FIND EACH OTHER!!!!!! ***ALWAYS*** IN EVERY LIFETIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i only had the chance to watch good omens 3 last night, so i am still trying to articulate my thoughts, and i am still deeply depressed--but, all things considered, i enjoyed the ending
first i would like to say, i know we're all very disappointed in the fact that the writing team was completely cishet, and i too despise this--as a queer person, i'm quite sick of being played by the film industry. but i would also like to say that, based on what i've heard from people who work in film, and from movies and tv shows i have seen that turned out good despite having a bad writer and vice versa, the writing of a show provides a small fraction into what the outcome will be. there are SO many other people working on it, people who are GOOD and people who CARE and people who are QUEER. michael and david, i believe, truly care about these characters--and, at least in my opinion, put their all into this finale. the writers gave them lines, but it was their and the director's (who i should mention identifies as nonbinary) choice how to breathe life into those lines. and boy, did they put heartbreak, and pain, and hope into those lines. but anyway, there were so many people working on this production who truly cared about these characters and the fandom, doing what they can with the resources they have
was it the best possible ending? probably not. i'm sure someone somewhere can think up a better ending. but i think that's kind of the deal with every show. i mean, name one show where the fandom was happy with the ending--most of the shows i watch, as a queer person, have been cancelled so they don't even have an ending. i suppose maybe i'm just grateful this one wasn't left to rot with the other queer shows. so yeah, i think a perfect ending doesn't exist, and there will always be someone who wished it'd have gone a different way--which is not a bad thing! i mean, it truly is the people who wish for more, for better that give the fandom so much fanfic, fanart etc. fandoms would be pretty empty places if fans never cared enough to imagine more
but i did enjoy seeing this side of things. being able to hope that this world in which we're living--the one with anthony and asa--could be kind enough to let us have our happy ending. no sides, no higher-power to manouver us how they like, just pure, unfiltered love
as a young queer person, being able to see two old queer men find love without the help of miracles or thousands of years of history under their belt--it gives me hope.
so yeah, i didn't mind the ending, and while it wasn't the one i was hoping for, i found myself enjoying what it offered me
I know it's not the silly stuff I usually post, but please hear me out, as it's important to me.
It all started with the Russian government making it illigal to talk about queerness amongst children, which was greatly celebrated by the homophobic majority back in the day. Later, they made it punishable for queer adults to publicly share their stories amongst other adults too, which was also celebrated.
On 30th November of 2023, the "lgbtq+ organization" was titled as "extremist", along with all the pro-Ukranian and anti-war organizations, which led to radical, aggressive censorship of all media in Russia. Then, big western social media were banned, along with monetization on them, which made activism for queer/pro-Ukrainian Russians even more difficult than it used to be, as it's required to dox yourself to the government by putting your "content creator" number (obtained from the official public services app "Госуслуги" by giving your sensitive information) in your BIO to get monetized legally. That has affected the right to privacy of not only Russian activists, but also of every Russian content creator.
12 days ago, on September 1st, 2025, they published a new law that punishes those who GOOGLE SEARCH unfavorable information about the government, "extremist" media, or anything that might suggest opposition to the Russian government and its actions. It's not just illegal to "seem" anti-war, or pro-gay, or pro-trans anymore — It's the MINDSET that's being criminalized right now. It's illegal to QUESTION, it's illegal to RESEARCH, it's illegal to INFO CHECK, it's illegal to EDUCATE YOURSELF, it's illegal to even TRY to FIND OUT THE TRUTH, even if you're doing it ON YOUR OWN.
So when I tell you,
