Well, we know how you feel about dyslexia? How do you feel about more physical disabilities?

Physical disabilities? Well, I actually value the people who have them quite a lot. They make easy enemies and fantastic bait for the real ones.

Jokes aside, I could not care less, as long as they do not get in the way. Although they have quite the bold target painted on their backs, shooting for said target is the equivalent to shooting at empty space. A waste of bullets and effort.

If they prove themselves competent, I might be willing to interact with them, but I would rather not allow another Brekker into my life.

Of course I know what dyslexia is. It’s a disorder that makes language difficult; in other words, a weakness.

People need to move past their weaknesses. If they do not, they are to be discarded.

The Wraith’s ship sank? That is truly a disappointment. Goes to show how you can never trust women with these sort of things.

Tell us, Van Eck, what is the true reason you hate your son? And don’t spew that “He can’t read!!” shit again, how horrible of you to say something like that of your own blood! Everyone needs the real answer.

I don’t despise him because he can’t read. I have more sense than that. In fact, I have a list of reasons.

- He cannot read, and so he cannot be trusted with the family legacy. To be illiterate is to be vulnerable, but, unlike other vulnerabilities, his cannot be fixed.

- His attitude is wrong. He thinks everything can be fixed with either friendliness or demolition. The first problem I mended, but he still does not assert himself; use his tongue. For these reasons, he cannot be trusted with the family legacy.

- He likes men. Being this way is considered strange in Ketterdam, and would make him a target. It would bring down the Van Eck reputation without contributing money and/or information.

These are three among many other issues with the boy, and, as you can see, they all lead to him potentially bringing down the Van Eck legacy. If I were a less ambitious man, I might forgive him, but I am not. Thus, I deal with Wylan in the way that I deal with all other dead weights. I dispose of them.
